May 13, 201510 yr Isn't that how standard UK releases work? Most songs premier 6-7 weeks before their release dates, yet radio wait until 4 weeks before release to playlist them. So that would be a 3 week gap between premier and playlist. The point I'm trying to make is that it premiered too early.
May 13, 201510 yr The point I'm trying to make is that it premiered too early. But I don't understand why, its how every other songs tends to work in the UK.
May 13, 201510 yr Sorry to harp on but with this kind of release a pre order is a terrible idea, because since it'll only be fandom buying it when it comes out (as playlisting won't have started), it won't impact iTunes at all
May 13, 201510 yr I'm with April on this one...I'm not worried about this at all, I think it will start entering playlists in the next few weeks and then start getting major radio play once its out (month of June for example) which i'd actually prefer as when people start hearing it it is available to download/stream immediately rather than hearing a song loads and not being able to download it for weeks... Video is doing really well..over half a million views in 3 days!
May 13, 201510 yr Chill out guys. I think Leona and co. have things in control. I said two weeks ago about how wise it may be to overlap UK and International promo, and yes, my idea is rooted on the some of things that have been brought up here - impact dates, standard 6-7 week prelease, playlisting, etc - all which can affect chart performance. As for why specifically, I recommend the spontaneous global release, it is because I feel the UK Radio likes to snub a number of its artists from time to time. Just my opinion, as I haven't studied the UK market very well. What I seemed to note is that they are very very quick to jump to playlisting US artists but will show very weird reluctance in doing the same for local ones - talk about not celebrating your own. TROUBLE from Glassheart is a very prime example of this. Just couldn't get a BBC 1 playlisting to boost it ahead of the release. This is why I don't want her team relying too much on UK performance, or even counting on it the way SyCo used. The US and International market welcome new music from recognized artists without any snobbery and let fans have their fill of it and decided whether or not it is worth airplay. UK Radio, not so much, though sometimes they can all jump behind an artist, the way they did Emeli Sande. Anyway, like I said before, FUMF is a people song, which means so many platforms to ensure its success. I think US will love because it is one of their most popular styles - Motown, and the upbeat uplifting tone should sure rouse the rest of international. I don't see UK Radio holding back at that point, though I get the sense that they will be much more supportive to Leona this time. Just my thoughts, I could be wrong about some things. I noticed the US release date is June 7, same as the UK one. Really good news there. They are really setting themselves up for success. I just wish they would start servicing it to TV stations/channels - music channels worldwide - especially. That tends to be how young people these days discover songs as they are the channels of preference for those demographic. I personally discovered Uptown Funk and Thrift Shop via tv, not long before they became no1 songs. TV, I would say, is bigger than the internet when it comes to discovering good music. I look forward to great success for Leona. I believe she has put the RIGHT WORK in, and nothing can 'keep her down' this era. Edited May 14, 201510 yr by Hagarthy
May 13, 201510 yr Author SIBC playlisted the song today and it says the focus date is 20th June: http://www.sibc.co.uk/downloads/SIBC%20A%2BB%20playlist.pdf So that means Radio should start getting on board sooner instead of later with the June 29th date which is good news. :cheer: Edited May 13, 201510 yr by Envoirment
May 13, 201510 yr Author More good news, FUMF video is now featured on the front page of 4Music: http://www.4music.com/ On the bottom right under latest videos. They're a UK TV channel which plays music videos so good to see it featured on their site! Also under brand new beats part of their website: http://www.4music.com/charts Which is great as it wasn't there earlier!
May 13, 201510 yr I hope she gets herself back in the charts on a global scale with this song. The girl deserves it! Some top 20 (Italy, Spain, Norway, Sweden) and top 10 peaks (UK, Ireland, Austria, Germany, Switzerland) would be nice. Not impossible if you ask me. Not brilliant, but much more exciting then some of her recent releases. Cover 9/10 Song 8/10 Video 7/10 End.
May 14, 201510 yr I just want things to go well for Leona, FUMF just gets better and better after each listen, just hope a wider audience get to hear it. BTW, Leona looks so happy, as if the weight of the world has lifted off her shoulders.
May 14, 201510 yr Author How come I'm not seeing the video on iTunes? They took it down I assume to generate more sales of the pre-order. Glad I bought it before it was taken down! Also BBC Radio 1Xtra played the song yet again today - they are loving it! :cheer:

Also BBC Radio 1Xtra played the song yet again today - they are loving it! :cheer: Oh lord, It was the only reason that kept the song in the top 200 of the pre order as giving a visibility, plus only fans (who already pre-order the song) bought the video Edited May 14, 201510 yr by pes
