Once again confirming that once you hit 30 years old, Radio 1 throws you into the trash.

So, I know that Radio 2 are on board (for now) and her radio tour is starting, but things aren't looking great for this at all. I think we should prepare for a minor hit at best.

The pre-order didn't even make top 75 and disappeared from the top 1500 within a couple of days. So, that probably accounted for a couple of hundred sales in total. It's also never reappeared in the top 1500, which shows a distinct lack of interest for it.

Without radio hammering this, or any major TV performances (I doubt the Palladium gig will do much), I just can't see it taking off, which is bitterly disappointing.

I still love the song and would love it to be a massive comeback for her, but all the signs are pointing in the opposite direction at the moment.

BBC 1 has no right to refuse playlisting Leona and I'll tell you why. It is not privately owned and exists primarily for the promotion of British artistry to its citizens and the world at large. Now, when a British artiste has gone on to represent British talent not just locally but on the global stage - and to great acclaim, it should be automatic that when such an artiste presents new and appropriate work to the public, it is immediately playlisted. It is that simple. You cannot turn away someone who has continued to shine the torch of British music worldwide for years because you don't think they are cool enough, when US performers such as Rihanna or Beyonce get immediate heavy rotation when they release new music (such suckers for anything with a US tag). I really for the life of me do not understand the logic behind that for a PUBLICLY OWNED radio station. If it's VJs and executives think they now OWN the station, then it is time to give them a dose of reality. IMO, where BBC decides to randomly discriminate on British artistes, especially when they stand to benefit from it in a way that would push British music worldwide, then its is not the radio station we ought to be addressing directly but the Culture Secretary herself. I frankly think its abominable. Were any American pop artiste to fart tomorrow, you can sure bet it would get an A playlisting. I'm frankly disgusted if this is true.

I wouldn't be surprised if PaulM1983 is right. While I don't think she needs Radio 1, commercial is needed instead and if Heart and/or Capital were going to get on board, they usually would have at least shown signs of getting on board by now, a radio tour isn't exactly going to change their minds.

I don't think it's about her age, I think her music fits with a slightly older audience now. Even if the single/s under-perform, I am sure with strong promo and radio 2 support, the album can still sell a decent amount :)

Not at all surprised - but it's not the end of the world.

I don't buy it - the daily star have made up so many stories in the past. Plus going by their logic, BBC Radio 1 have also snubbed Rita Ora & Nathan Sykes (who are released the same week as Leona). I'm going to wait until Leona's radio tour starts and this wednesdays playlist.

In other news, BBC Radio 2 played it again today and Minster/Pirate FM have played it again too. Great to see regular play by other stations starting! :cheer:

It stayed in the top 1500 for a week before dropping out. And the reason it hasn't reappeared is due to it getting no airplay. That should change this upcoming week. Personally I'm quite confident in Leona & her team. She looks to have a lot of upcoming promotion so that should help a lot.

I do actually think you are probably right in this case. As if James Ingham has any idea as to what is going to be snubbed in the coming weeks. Radio 1 don't have their playlist meetings until the actual day that the playlists are published. There's no way they'd be telling the Daily Star what they may or may not be playlisting in future.

That being said, I still feel quite certain Radio 1 won't play the song - but really hope I'm proved wrong.

@Ed_StarOnSunday How are you allowed to get away with this? Making up lies, putting words in people's mouths, it's not cool.. #disappointed

Alesha Dixon tweeted about it and how they made up lies and put words in people's mouth... So I'm going to take that article with a cup of salt. I really hate how the tabloids always try to stir things up.

Hello from a Will young fan.

I have been reading your posts recently, and the discussions have been remarkably similar to those that Will fans have been having in the past month.

- despite everything, he has the No1 album today.

Hopefully, you will all be celebrating a similar triumph in a few weeks time.

Talent will triumph.

Leona's lead single isn't out until 9/11 though so it'll be a long time before we can find out how that's going to do.
It will be sad if Fire Under My Feet flops, but at the end of the day the album needs to be a success. That's the most important thing.

Yeah I really would take anything you read from things like those with a pinch of salt...

I still have high hopes for this song, I really think it'll smash. Really want to see capital & heart get on board from tomorrow onwards, it's all about radio play and promo for June so lets hope they have a lot up their sleeves. Fingers crossed.

Really disappointed if Heart, Capital, Capital Xtra & Smooth do not get on board with this, it will be a great shame.

I always knew that there was a very high chance that Radio 1 and Capital wouldn't support this, but I didn't think she'd struggle to get the likes of Kiss and Heart on board, plus the smaller stations like Clyde etc.

Maybe its still to early and they will come on board this week at some point, here is hoping.

I thought the same, but I did not post it, especially since we were more than a month away, but seriously if they don't play soon, I do not see playing at all then.

I hope with the second single she goes to Capital and ask them, choose a single that you will playlist and that will be my next single

I think it's fair to say Capital won't be supporting this, but sometimes Heart get on board a little later on, so I'd hold out for them a little longer.

Pretty happy with the schedule given it doesn't give us all the details. She'll likely do a lot more stations than are on the schedule and it only goes up until Friday. She'll likely be doing more at the weekend, into next week and has Sunday Night At The Paladium Sunday, great stuff!

The fact that she is visiting BBC R2 on the 13th make me think she could still visit other big radios next week too
