Sanna Nielsen - 7 5. Taylor Swift - 1989 Best single : Sanna Nielsen - Undo Second place : Kat McSnatch - I Don't Like You Third place : Go!Go!Go! - I Love Christmas (even I-Tunes Russia sell this single and their album  ) "Legend In Leather" (by Heidi Range) if my favourite song from 2014, but it's illegal for # 1 in year chart, because wasn't released as single. I really need to hear this Kat McSnatch album  Go!Go!Go! would have made my top 50 (about #49). The other three albums are also great. Excellent countdown, of course 'Undo' is pop perfection so it should've won but OH WELL ~ (full recap coming soon, still recovering from an EPIC Christmas) Thanks Math :D I shall be commenting on other people's very soon, just wanted to finish mine first! Pleased you've had a great Xmas!
December 26, 201410 yr Some nice stuff in the top 10, Rich, I'm not overly familiar with the top 2, but You Ruin Me deserved more than it did, a really quite nice ballad, I'm surprised it bombed and most radio's ignored it rather than only growing in popularity like All of Me, Jar of Hearts etc. These Days was a very solid comeback, I like how their comebacks never sound the same as the last one, Rather Be obvs one of the song of the year too. I really enjoyed Shut Up & Dance and Spitfire from you in terms of your BJSC entries this year, I'd quite like to see more of that sort of thing from you!
December 27, 201410 yr Amazing countdown Gooddelta, I have loved reading this  Definitely agree with most of the 1989 highlights: Out Of The Woods, Shake It Off, Blank Space, Style, I Know Places, Wonderland Out Of The Woods is stunning and has to be a single, Shake It Off + Blank Space are of course perfect and I Know Places was actually my least favourite song on the album on first listen [and the only song from 1989 to miss my personal chart top 40 originally] but wow that song has hit me so badly since then. I of course adore Style and Wonderland [the latter I bought on iTunes yesterday] but neither would be highlights for me. Yay for Taylor slaying here  Top 100 Singles of 2014 1. Sheppard - A Grade Playa 2. Sanna Nielsen - Undo 3. The Veronicas - You Ruin Me Stunning. Beautiful. Spectacular. Thanks HeartFM. This song is just perfect and an amazing comeback  4. Sheppard - Geronimo Really hope this can become the big hit it deserves in 2015  5. Clean Bandit feat Jess Glynne - Rather Be 6. Take That - These Days 7. Molly - Children Of The Universe This is possibly my favourite ever UK Eurovision song. It is so amazing and atmospheric. We deserved to do so much better than 17th :( 8. The Common Linnets - Calm After The Storm Another one of my favourite ever Eurovision songs. This is simple but just works so perfectly Top 40 Albums of 2014 1. Sheppard - Bombs Away 2. The Common Linnets - The Common Linnets I adore this album so much  3. Ed Sheeran - x 4. Taylor Swift - 1989 5. The Veronicas - The Veronicas I am waiting till the UK release to hear this, I love YRM and IYLS though  6. Shakira - Shakira. 7. Take That - III 8. Kylie Minogue - Kiss Me Once Really like this and really enjoyed watching her tour on TV the other day  9. Katy B - Little Red 10. Clean Bandit - New Eyes
December 27, 201410 yr I must say, I didn't really get Sheppard at first, and Geronimo I'm going to have to give more of a chance sometime, they are a nice band but didn't really stand out based on what I'd heard until you sent A Grade Playa. I must enjoy her voice far more than George's because it's such a fantastic song to listen to with her vocals, definitely a great pop song, and I wish more people had taken notice of it. It didn't really stick with me long term (which on the plus side means it's still quite fresh for future listening) but I'm very glad to see it triumph up here anyway. The rest of your top 10 is also very good for the large part, RAMelia and Atemlos are among my favourites of your entries this year (with Shut Up And Dance just behind them, that's just kept growing and growing into amazingness since the contest), of course I love Rather Be, Calm After The Storm and Undo and You Ruin Me is a lovely ballad that really surprised me. Very nice countdown, I've enjoyed reading it as ever and you have some lovely songs toward the upper end.
December 27, 201410 yr Hey Rich, great countdown as usual! Undo slaying  What a song. Great to see Taylor and Ed high in the albums, and it's certainly no surprise to see Sheppard do the double :P I really need to give the album a listen, Geronimo has really hit me recently
December 27, 201410 yr Echo was Eyes said about 'You Ruin Me' being one of the biggest surprises all year from The Veronicas too who I never was a fan of, only liked 4ever from them before this year but their whole album is brilliant. Another one I missed when scrapping in some albums of the year on my thread lol. Sheppard I hope can at least get a hit with Geronimo but I'm not getting my hopes up. The pre order is nowhere to be seen and it wasn't doing exactly great last month :( CATS & COTU are fab Eurovision songs this year. Played both earlier today out loud in my room and came to appreciate Molly's so much more now. Edited December 27, 201410 yr by Robert S

It's a real shame that You Ruin Me didn't grow in popularity I agree, perhaps releasing it in November it was always going to get lost. I agree about Take That, it's always difficult to predict which direction they'll go in next, which is a very good thing and keeps them relevant. Pleased you like those two, I don't send too much in the way of indie/alternative as it doesn't represent a high proportion of my music taste but every now and then I fall in love with something like that! Amazing countdown Gooddelta, I have loved reading this  Definitely agree with most of the 1989 highlights: Out Of The Woods, Shake It Off, Blank Space, Style, I Know Places, Wonderland Out Of The Woods is stunning and has to be a single, Shake It Off + Blank Space are of course perfect and I Know Places was actually my least favourite song on the album on first listen [and the only song from 1989 to miss my personal chart top 40 originally] but wow that song has hit me so badly since then. Clean Bandit - New Eyes Thanks for all your comments throughout! Taylor's album is really fantastic, I Know Places was one of my initial highlights actually! Pleased to find another big fan of The Common Linnets' album, it's so strong from start to finish! I must say, I didn't really get Sheppard at first, and Geronimo I'm going to have to give more of a chance sometime, they are a nice band but didn't really stand out based on what I'd heard until you sent A Grade Playa. Very nice countdown, I've enjoyed reading it as ever and you have some lovely songs toward the upper end. Thanks Eyes. Sheppard were a real surprise package for me, Geronimo took a while to hit me properly so I didn't have massive expectations for the album and certainly wasn't expecting to hear my favourite album of the decade to date. I guess Australian pop has always had a knack of hitting me in a way like nothing else can. Amy Sheppard definitely deserves more attention, I guess it will forever be one of those songs that I 'get' way more than everybody else seems to, but I'm still completely addicted to it. I'm so glad they performed it live at the gig I saw too, so perfect  Pleased to see you pick those three out of my BJSC entries, all far exceeded my initial expectations for them (although by the time the final rolled around I admit that I would have been disappointed if RAMelia hadn't won). Hey Rich, great countdown as usual! Undo slaying  What a song. Great to see Taylor and Ed high in the albums, and it's certainly no surprise to see Sheppard do the double :P I really need to give the album a listen, Geronimo has really hit me recently Thanks Liam. Undo is so perfect, Sanna really never ever lets me down and I'm elated at the success she finally achieved, I never imagined I'd see her on the Eurovision stage! I feel like you'd enjoy the Sheppard album so hope you get a chance to listen at some point! Echo was Eyes said about 'You Ruin Me' being one of the biggest surprises all year from The Veronicas too who I never was a fan of, only liked 4ever from them before this year but their whole album is brilliant. Played both earlier today out loud in my room and came to appreciate Molly's so much more now. Thanks Rob, I've always loved The Veronicas and they've pretty much hit my personal chart top ten with every single they've put out over the last nine years, I adore them. 4Ever was their only other #1 for me though, albeit about four years before it was released in the UK  I'm happy with how well Geronimo has been received worldwide but it could go either way really, it could do a Cool Kids if the UK public don't latch onto it. I hope it gets airplay support though.

I guess this forum hasn't warmed to Sheppard yet, the album is a real gem though. It seems like quite a few people liked the Sweet California track even more than I did, I didn't expect it to make the semis of The Best Of! Superb countdown as always here Rich! Great to see 'Undo' doing so well, as much as I adore 'Busy Doin' Nothin', it was the right choice for Sweden this year. Thanks Adam, I think Busy Doin Nothin also would have come 3rd for Sweden (and perhaps the song would have been a UK top 20/30 hit with the exposure) but I'm much happier that Sanna won, for a start I way prefer the song and it's just a perfect narrative for Sanna, I've been waiting so long for her to get the recognition she deserves. Hearing it on the chart show was a real *.* moment. Since when do the third place entries EVER chart?
December 30, 201410 yr I never expected that #1 single, I was more inclined for Rather Be or You Ruin Me for some reason.
December 30, 201410 yr Author I never expected that #1 single, I was more inclined for Rather Be or You Ruin Me for some reason. I thought it was quite an obvious #1 given its mega chart run! I've played it 188 times this year (very low for some members I know but I rarely overplay songs as I'd get too bored of them!) compared to 72 for You Ruin me and 55 for Rather Be so the stats speak for themselves :o
December 31, 201410 yr Since when do the third place entries EVER chart? If include British entries : Jessica Garlick with "Comeback" reached # 13 in 2002. If don't count British entries : Dutch "I See A Star" by Mouth and MacNeal in 1974, peaked at # 8. Before Sanna it was only one non-British third place at ESC in all history of the official UK chart.

It seriously might be the track of the year for me although it won't be on my eoy until next year's EOY for me and it should be relatively high. No Paloma either? What's going on :( Thanks James! Both of Taylor's singles and Out of the woods peaked at No.5 in my weekly chart, little quirk there :P Paloma would have been top 150 with OLCHLT and Changing i guess, I've never been HUGE on her though.
