Top 100 update (28/12/2014, 22:00)

 

The year is off to a very uneventful start, no major releases this week (I think Echosmith's album is out but that's pretty much it, I guess we'll see tomorrow) and not even any pre-orders in the top 100, though Fall Out Boy's new album isn't far outside at #108, while Madonna, Mark Ronson and Imagine Dragons are also top 200.

Madonna #105, Imagine Dragons #129 and we have a couple more pre-orders sneaking into the top 200 - Enter Shikari's 'Mindsweep' at #111 and Rae Morris' 'Unguarded' at #178. Enter Shikari released the same week as Fall Out Boy and Mark Ronson, based on the pre-order positions they'll probably end up as the third highest new entry but I could see them being top 5 nonetheless.

 

We have a new release in the top 100! Huzzah. Låpsley's EP is only 4 tracks so sales will presumably be counted towards 'Falling Short'. I doubt it'll trouble the top 100 (possibly unless she is top 5 in Sound of 2015) but #43 is a fairly decent position.

 

Not a new release but George The Poet's album enters at #90 after he came 5th in Sound of 2015, this doesn't bode well for him to achieve much commercial success.

Pleased that Rae Morris is making an appearance in the Top 200, looking forward to her album!

 

Seems Fall Out Boy will get the #1 out of the 19th January releases since they're also #32 on Amazon, with Mark Ronson at #74 and The Decemberists at #98. Enter Shikari are #15 on the pre-order list (other 19th Jan releases ahead of them are Belle & Sebastian and The Waterboys).

Poor Mark Ronson if he ends up #2 behind Fall Out Boy, that'd be 3 consecutive #2 albums for him without reaching #1 (though he at least now has a #1 single when previously he similarly had 2 #2 singles). That said Fall Out Boy also have a #2 and a #3 without a #1. And Enter Shikari have two #4s without making the top 3.
Britney's 'The Singles Collection' (2009) has been reduced to £3.99 for 23 songs and 16 videos! Bargain.

Other pre-orders: Imagine Dragons #111 and James Bay has popped up at #164. Madonna and Rae Morris out of the top 200. George The Poet has climbed a bit more, while Raury doesn't have any albums to see a Sound of 2015 effect for unforch.

 

Meanwhile the week's new releases hot up as Joshua Radin apparently still exists. You may remember him from 'I'd Rather Be With You' from 2010, the song that was not by Jason Mraz but might as well have been (especially as it peaked at #11 for 2 weeks although thankfully fell quickly afterwards).
