That's an interesting question but I wouldn't say it's a biased chart just because Spotify was not able to send the data to OCC in time. It's not the OCC's fault.

Is it only me who actually really enjoyed the last chart being Spotify-free? It made things SO much fresher and it didn't feel like it was less of a representation of what's popular, at ALL.
Loving how people are still streaming the Tinashe remix of 'Jealous' <3

Well I liked it more too :P BUT if we follow the rules we should follow the rules every week not letting those glitches happen, even they seem positive for a chart listener and for new releases. In the end the chart will be much more streaming dominated anyway, so it will be impossible not to include in there.

So when Spotify sorts itself out I think OCC should re-release the last week's chart even if it's not their fault

I also liked it way more and I actually kind of hope the spotify data gets lost again this week :kink:

Yup, this is exactly like me :kink:

that's fair enough. I'm also wondering if Spotify (and also other retailers) have some sort of agreement, contract with the OCC, so if they cannot give the data in time they have to pay some extra fee or penalty?

I think it's annoying. Like, Carly Rae for example, fell out of the top 40 prematurely. Songs will probably re-enter this Friday (if data is back), but they'll have unfair broken top 40 runs. Also, I don't like how low overall sales are without Spotify data.

I agree with Joes statement although everyone is sick to death of TOL for instance it's record breaking 54 weeks have been broken because of a glitch and whether people are sick of it enough it was still a top 40 hit because people are purchasing it and listening to it so it is annoying. As I've said it's having such a long run because it's a modern day classic.

This situation has bound to have happened in the 60s and 70s when maybe certain data didn't arrive from different parts of the country for whatever reason or tills electronic recording data didn't work?

Uhm, would you like to HMV's album sales get lost?

And the latest chart should never be rerun even they got the data. It's what it is and next week is another story. That's why they are called weekly charts. You don't "fix" them afterwards.

Do we know yet whether:

1. Spotify deliberately withheld the data (probably due to some argument about Apple streaming) or

2. Whether it was a technical glitch (either at Spotify or at Millward Brown, who centrally collect/analyse the data for OCC)

Anyone heard anything, from an official source?

Disagree with this.

Charts and the OCC, have to work to strict rules and procedures which ensure the consistency and integrity of the charts. Else its just an inconsistent meaningless shambles.

Its actually disgraceful that there hasnt been an official OCC statement.

But the data would still be for that exact week,
