December 9, 20159 yr it's almost as if you have to force-feed x factor contestants' material down people's throats just to get them to pay attention (hence why sax was a hit) but because this album isn't literally everywhere, people don't seem to be taking an interest which is a shame as there's only about two songs on this (covers excluded) that couldn't fare well as properly promoted singles. :(
December 9, 20159 yr The album's opening, which should be around 25k, isn't bad when you consider that Sax opened with 60k. It's only going to open on a lower position than expected because of sales being huge at the moment. A second single followed by the album's launch in the first quarter of 2016 would've been safer.
December 9, 20159 yr Exactly, 25k would have been an easy top 5 normally but it's right in Q4, near Christmas, naturally it's going to be more competitive. We have to look at the sales for this rather than the position.
December 9, 20159 yr What did Ben sell a few weeks ago? 18k I believe, I'm sure someone will correct me if am wrong.
December 9, 20159 yr Yes 18130 (just checked the sales thread) I think Joseph said she is just under 18k that at the moment, so she will better that but not by much if it continues to fall. I understand fans want to make the best of this (I know as a Ben fan) but considering the hype and massive coverage she has had in comparison, I'm not sure how this can be seen as anything other than disappointing. The real test will be next week and how big the drop etc Edited December 9, 20159 yr by torresgirl
December 9, 20159 yr Yeah Fleur's sold just under 18k so far this week, she'll definitely outsell Ben. I think her sales are decent and it's only gonna end up low due to such high sales at this time of year. The entire campaign has been directed at Sax so far so it's no wonder the album's going slightly under the radar.
December 9, 20159 yr "The album [ben Haenow] debuted at number 10 on the UK Albums Chart with 18,130 copies sold. In its second week, the album dropped to number 29, selling 7,743 copies, bringing it's total to 25,873 copies sold." Wikipedia. I hope Fleur announces a live tour soon, my brother and I really want to see her perform!
December 9, 20159 yr It's like I said in the chart forum earlier, the fact she has a single which has been a reasonably big hit puts her in a better position to recover this than Ben does in the future (I'm not necessarily saying she will, but she stands a better chance). I do agree it is a disappointing opening for her though.
December 10, 20159 yr I think it's about what should've been expected, 'Sax' isn't a natural album seller and for a new artist it is quite rare these days to launch an album with just one single. I think you'd expect Fleur to be more of a singles artist and Ben to be more of an albums artist just by the type of music they produce and the radio stations they appeal to.
December 27, 20159 yr Gone silver with sales of 65,000. Obviously not quite the success that we had hoped but Silver within 3 weeks isn't a disaster. Should easily hit 100k and go Gold and hopefully following singles will give it a few boosts.
December 27, 20159 yr That's decent considering it didn't peak in the top 10 and she's only got one single out so far! I hope future singles continue to do well and sell the album.
December 27, 20159 yr It should easily go Gold, Platinum might be a struggle, but I can see it being around 200k by this time next year (if the followups do decently) which would be a pretty great result.
December 29, 20159 yr 'Gold Watch' was used during the coverage for Leeds vs Derby on Sky Sports tonight, the instrumental sounds great! It must be a single at some point, however I think I'd choose 'Breakfast' first as I think 'Gold Watch' is too similar to 'Sax' to have as a follow-up single. 'Breakfast' is perfect for radio and then 'Gold Watch' can be saved for a Britain's Got Talent performance. Aside from those, other potential singles are 'More and More' and at a push 'Baby Don't Dance' but I don't think she should go for any aside from those 4 (plus 'Sax'). I have a feeling they will push 'Paris' though and I can't see that going anywhere.
December 29, 20159 yr Yeah I'm definitely agreeing that the order should be: 1. Sax 2. Breakfast 3. Gold Watch I would like either 'More and More' or 'Baby Don't Dance' as a 4th single but I can't see them pushing the campaign much beyond the three singles tbh.
