Strictly is down too which is surprising, the two didn't clash did they?

There was a half hour overlap at the start, that would seem to have done some of the damage. Especially given the return to more 'normal' levels for the actual final on Sunday which had no overlap.

Was expecting more from the Luther ratings given the hype but I suppose it'll easily top 7m in the official ratings.

A 50% share is very impressive! Awful for ITV though, I would have thought the premiere of one of the biggest films of the last few years would have attracted a bigger audience even if the reaction to the Hobbit films has turned into something pretty similar to the Star Wars prequels.

Great Strictly ratings - third and fourth highest overnights of the year (behind Bake Off and BGT finals) and better than last year's 10.65m and 10.21m.

In fact, Strictly seems to have done better all round in the ratings compared to last year, despite the continued drop for X Factor which has been around less time.

I work out that X Factor had an average of 6.71m viewers in the overnights throughout the past series, whilst Strictly got 9.54m - average of 2.83m difference.

That's from 28 X Factor episodes and 27 Strictly episodes.

What reaction is that??

Can't believe EE is now THIRD to tripe like Emmerdale.

I believe it is widely accepted that The Hobbit trilogy is considerably less good than The Lord Of The Rings trilogy.
Yeh, I'm not meaning it's on the same level of reaction as the Star Wars prequels but I don't think they are/will be remembered as a great trilogy in the same way LOTR is. It's the whole thing of stretching the story unnecessarily.

The soap figures are atrocious. Even Coronation Street is now just about holding above 6m on a Monday! :o I think we'll be in for some ratings shockers over Christmas.
Last year's Christmas ratings for everything were quite low when compared to previous years, so I'm not expecting much from this year.
