February 9, 201510 yr Author Not listened to her album yet, but Alexis Jordan's singles were all brilliant. That's a much bigger sales total that i would have thought for her though :o if you have a sales breakdown of the singles, could you possibly share? Interested to see how much 'Happiness' has sold in particular. "Happiness" was on around 370k for the purposes of this rundown with "Good Girl" on 260k, "Got 2 luv You" on 130k plus 50k for "Hush Hush" and various album tracks. :D
February 9, 201510 yr Alexis  Good girl is so amazing  Jordin Sparks   :cheer: :cheer:  Battlefield is one of the best songs ever and both albums are amazing  Do you have a sales breakdown Gezza for Jordin?
February 10, 201510 yr Wow never realized that Good Girl sold that much! Happiness is one of my favorite songs of the 2010s so I am very pleased to see her pop up on this! Jordin is also great!
February 10, 201510 yr Monica - Really liked The Boy Is Mine back in the day and even her version of "Angel Of Mine" was nice but nothing compared to Eternal's version. Also liked "All Eyez On Me" quite a catchy tune. PJ and Duncan - Pure cheesy fun, okay they were never faves of mine but they did have some fun songs "Let's Get Ready To Rumble" was fun, "Our Radio Rocks" also cheesy fun and really liked "When I Fall In Love" which is rather forgotten now, but say what you will they did have a successful run of hits back in the day, such memories. S Club Juniors/8 = Harmless enough and did hope that they would have filled the void after S Club 7 split, but never happened, their stuff was nowhere near as good, but did enjoy "One Step Closer" and "Sundown", the rest were pretty much awful "Puppy Love" (wot the hell were they thinking). Alexis Jordon = Sorry just didn't get into her, found Good Girl rather annoying. What did happen to her anyway. Jordin Sparks = Had a couple of decent tracks especially SOS and Battlefield, but found No Air bland and lifeless, I mean what was the fuss about. But truly talented singer and hope she makes a decent comeback someday.
February 10, 201510 yr Author Wheres MN8? Another one I've missed off! I'll add them in at the end along with St Winifred's School Choir!- Apologies :D
February 10, 201510 yr Author 41.ALTERED IMAGES (858,000) 3 HITS http://www.simplyeighties.com/resources/ALtered%20Images%20in%20the%2080s.jpg Only their first three singles are eligible for this thread but two of those are their biggest hits so Clare Grogan et al sneak into the top 40. Their first single “Dead Pop Stars” was released at the same time as John Lennon was shot so a case of bad timing prevented it being a hit but “Happy Birthday” made up for it when it almost went to No 1 in late 1981 and made Grogan a pin up for a time. February 10, 201510 yr Author 40.MYA (859,000) 2 HITS http://www.top40db.net/img/Artist/3323.jpg Named after the poet and novelist Mya Angelou this is a bit of an unusual entry. Her debut album was actually released in 1998 and was quite a substantive hit in the US, over here of course we roundly ignored it, but it did allow Mya to get a guest spot on Pras Michel’s “Ghetto Supastar” and on Blackstreet’s “Take Me There” both of which did do some business on our charts as you can see. Her second album in 2001 did make her a star in her own right thanks to the excellent “Case Of The Ex”. 4_TyO0PEwpo

Their first 6 singles all went top 4 and in 1988 they sold a million singles alone, over 800,000 of them whilst all teenagers, the man behind them was Tom Watkins who moulded their image to appeal to girls and gays alike and for a while it worked a dream! By 1991 it was all over and the boys were left virtually bankrupt. mOkgLIsm_iU
February 11, 201510 yr Kylie must be soon as it was only ISBSLucky & the firsst 3/4 weeks of Got to be certain that would apply. I think!
February 11, 201510 yr Author 38. CLEOPATRA (870,000) 6 HITS http://wac.450f.edgecastcdn.net/80450F/popcrush.com/files/2013/02/cleo2.jpg Three sisters who, in their day, caught the attention of the Madonna (who signed them to Maverick Records in the US and gave them a top 30 single) and the Spice Girls who got Cleopatra to support them on the UK leg of their “Spiceworld Tour”. BRIT nominations followed and another top 5 single on the ABBA tribute were 1999’s highlights but record label issues and parting ways followed in 2000 and chart momentum was lost. 1OZp_YixQSI
February 11, 201510 yr Author 37.BRANDY (874,000) 5 HITS http://ia.media-imdb.com/images/M/MV5BMTY0MzM2Mzg2Nl5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTYwMDA2NDI0._V1_SX640_SY720_.jpg Monica’s sparring partner in “The Boy Is Mine” proves to be the bigger popstar here. The pair famously didn’t get on in real life with the words of the song proving prophetic, anyway some revenge is dished out here. She spent most of the 90s since her debut creating movie songs and starring in some, and dating other musicians (one of Boyz II Men and rapper Ma$e) whilst managing two albums of her own. UrNb397wS-A
February 11, 201510 yr Author 36. SAMANTHA MUMBA (878,000) 6 HITS http://news.bbc.co.uk/olmedia/1580000/images/_1580595_mobo1.jpg You can thank a certain Louis Walsh for this one, only 15 when she was discovered on a talent show in Ireland Mumba had a brief but very successful career consisting of 6 top 6 singles. “Gotta Tell You” famously lost the midweek lead to Eminem and she upset Bowie fans with her sample of “Ashes To Ashes” on her next single “Body II Body”, but it was the inability of “I’m Right Here” to generate sales (it sold 63,000) as a lead single for a second album that proved the final straw (despite it’s No 5 peak) and she was dropped. a1vLeZ2fBrY
February 11, 201510 yr Not too fussed about anything Cleopatra released. Brandy's favourite era by far for me was 'Afrodisiac' - love that album, especially the title song  Samantha Mumba had a great voice and some decent pop songs ('Gotta Tell You' and 'Always Come Back To Your Love'), shame she didn't last beyond one album.
February 11, 201510 yr Cleopatra I bought all their singles !!! Such a guilty erasure cleo really did have a voice!! Brandy never say never one off fav albums of all time!! Didn't ultimate kaos make this list ?
February 11, 201510 yr Author Didn't ultimate kaos make this list ? Ah now they definitely didn't! Their best seller "Some Girls" only made 120k and the rest wouldn't even come to 100k
February 12, 201510 yr Author 35.MCFLY (884,000) 8 HITS http://www.virginmedia.com/music/pictures/brits2005/pix/08_main.jpg Tom Fletcher may have failed to make the cut for Busted but he was retained as part of the songwriting team for the band which led eventually to Fletcher forming Mcfly with help from James Bourne. McFly were an instant success with two chart toppers from them and a Comic Relief single in March 2005 which remains their best seller. In short they released 8 singles as a teen band of which half made No 1, they would of course be considerably higher were it not for the poor sales climate of 2004/05. uSYyHrNw8Zg
February 12, 201510 yr Author 34.JOE MCELDERRY (892,000) 3 HITS http://www1.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/National%20Television%20Awards%202010%20Arrivals%20J7KYLenEeDwl.jpg He might have seen Olly Murs off to win the X Factor in 2009 but poor Joe’s winning track “The Climb” couldn’t make the festive No 1 spot as it lost out to Rage Against The Machine as a token of defiance to Simon Cowell’s domination of the spot despite selling over 450,000 copies in a week. It made No 1 the following week but will still deemed a failure by many, and when his follow up “Ambitions” failed to crack the top 5 he was virtually written off and his relationship with Syco was broken in early 2011. ucncOc5PAgU
February 12, 201510 yr Author 33.TIFFANY (912,000) 6 HITS http://fr.payplay.fm/227077300-tiffany-photo.jpg Along with Debbie Gibson they were the faces of late 80s US teen pop, Tiffany promoted her album on a tour of US Mall’s, which in 1987 was the first time that this kind of promotion was used and led to her being labelled a Mall rat which was perhaps a bit harsh. She scored a No 1 with her cover of “I Think We’re Alone” and then scored three further top 20 hits before 1988 was done and before the magic faded. Tiffany spent the rest of her teens trying to "emancipate" herself from her parents but did tour with New Kids On The Block supporting her which ironically helped them to far outstrip her eventually. February 12, 201510 yr As a McFly loon, I was wondering when they'd appear :) shame they suffered in the poor sales climate of 2004/2005. Still, having their first 15 singles all make the Top 10 is impressive - even if the chart runs of those singles aren't quite so impressive :kink:
