In what world is 'The Time (Dirty Bit)' more annoying than 'Whip My Hair'?

Also she did actually have a second top 100 hit :o '21st Century Girl' which was a much more tolerable song but alas peaked at just #91.

Her appearance on “America’s Most Talented Kids” saw Jojo get a record deal aged 13, and by 14 she was pumping out the hits narrowly missing out on becoming the first act born in the 90s to have a No 1 single when “Leave (Get Out)” was pipped by Nelly in September 2004. She was actually offered her first contract aged 6 but has been out of the limelight since 2007 during which time she was in dispute with her record label until she was in her 20s.

90.DEUCE (310,000) 3 HITS

When he wasn’t busy managing East 17 and Pet Shop Boys (among others) Tom Watkins also managed this lot who formed this band after the lead singer did work experience in his office, their first hit “Call It Love” missed out at No 11 but second single “I Need You” smashed into the charts at No 10 thanks in part to coming third in the heats for that years Eurovision Song Contest (losing out to Love City Groove). After their third hit the lead singer quit and the band were dropped, even a new record deal and a new member couldn’t revive their fortunes.

Incidentally before someone points it out- Yes Willow Smith was NOT a teen but there a few pre-teens on this list so the title is slightly erroneous but it's a "celebration" of YOUNG popstars so I thought I would count them to....

"narrowly missing out on becoming the first act born in the 90s to have a No 1 single"

So who actually was the first?

So disappointing. She should have that many sales for each single, not for all of them combined. :drama:
92. WILLOW SMITH (306,000) 1 HIT

Oh remember this one? They’re just getting younger on this thread, Smith was a mere 10 years old when “Whip My Hair” made its debut at No 2 to the chagrin of many members of this forum though incredibly it was held off the top by an even more annoying record (Black Eyed Peas’ “The Time (Dirty Bit)”. She’s not graced the top 75 since thankfully though as a 14 year old she can still add to this total for a long time- be warned.

OMG Willow Smith - what a dream song

89.ALYSSA REID (313,000) 1 HIT

A graduate of Canadian talent show “The Next Show” (though she wasn’t a winner) Reid only had one hit in this country (and now she’s over 20 the only hit ever for this thread) when she took Heart’s 1987 No 3 hit “Alone” and put a 2012 spin on it. The track actually went one better than the original did in the UK charts though it could have been better as it lead the midweek sales flashes only to lose out to David Guetta’s “Titanium” come Sunday.

88. SAM FOX (321,000) 1 HIT

Launching herself at just 16 as perhaps the most famous page 3 girl of all time, Samantha Fox was an immediate hit with the readership of the “Sun” which resulted in considerable fame in the press. Her decision to give up topless modelling when she hit 20 was tied to her entrance into the pop world with “Touch Me (I Want Your Body)” which made No 3 here but also (surprisingly) No 4 in the USA, her pop career was extended to the end of the 80s thanks to producers S/A/W before reality TV called for Fox.

A teenager for the period of her debut album Ciara earned herself the tag “First lady of Crunk N B” with her first hit “Goodies” which as co-penned by the same guy who co-wrote Usher’s “Yeah” and provided the singer with a UK No 1 hit in early 2005. Three more top 10 hits followed in the year including a feature on Missy Elliott’s “Lose Control” which was a favour returned for the rapper’s guest spot on Ciara’s “1,2 Step”.

ALYSSA http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ed2305b7.png Alone Again is a wonderful track and I really wish it had made #1, it had pretty decent sales though so can't moan. Such a shame that she never had another hit because she has two fantastic pop albums FULL of hits, like this one:

LOVE JoJo too, Too Little Too Late is one of my favourite songs of all-time

So disappointing. She should have that many sales for each single, not for all of them combined. :drama:

Yeah, then you have Alyssa Reid a couple of places higher who only had the one forgotten hit, I guess that's what you get for having your biggest hit in 2004, although "Too Little Too Late" was big also in 2007.

I was a huge fan of Deuce back in the day. First single i ever bought was I need you and their album was one of the first i bought. It's so random when it comes on my iTunes now
