Just thought I'd test one of these out here in this part of the forum.

As well know, the '50 Shades Of Grey' movie is heading to cinemas on Friday 13th February and it's been on pre-sale ever since Late Oct/Early Nov.

How much do you think this will movie will make in it's opening weekend over here AND in the US?

My predictions:

UK: £7m - £9.99m

US: $45m +

I'm expecting MASSIVE things for this.

I have no idea how this film is going to turn out. When it was first announced, I thought it would flop because everyone would be over the books by then and they weren't pieces of literary geniuses to start with. BUT there seems to be a lot of buzz surrounding it with the trailer/soundtrack/promotion so it'll probably be a big success!

UK: Nothing more than £4 million/$5.2 million. The '18' rating is very restricting for there to be a higher gross than this.

US: I meant to hit $45 million + but by accident didn't :P The rating isnt very restrictive over there and I think personally it will have a very front-loaded week of about $50-55 million.

I don't see the 18 certificate as too much of a hindrance tbh. I think it's going to easily sweep past "Gone Girl" especially with it being Valentine's weekend. Going for £6m+

$55-$60m in the US.

Released in 9 days or so!

I'm really believing this is going to be doing some "pre-sales" records.

At one point tomorrow evening my old local Cineworld back up north is devoting SEVEN out of the ten screens to this. With a showing starting every 15 minutes at one stage. Did massive franchises such as Harry Potter/Twilight etc. even get that kind of treatment??

Should cross 10m with ease.

I think Harry Potter definitely had something quite as ridiculous as that but even then it seems like it's heading for a huge total this weekend :o

It's INSANE just how popular it's been doing on pre sales ALONE. Where I work, we are having it in like 7 (out of 12) screens too, I think! Valentine's night is very similar, also! We're expecting one of the biggest days for Valentine's day ever, I think!
Box Office Mono predicts that this will do about $92 million in its first weekend and $101 million for the fore-day weekend:O That's as huge as American Sniper :o
It's funny that even though the film has been absolutely slated by critics it really hasn't stopped anyone. Even I'm booked in for tonight just because I want to see Dornan.
