I thought it would be useful to have a separate thread for discussion relating solely to the 30th Anniversary week in February. Here's a summary of what's been announced so far:
  • *The special week of episodes will all have live elements and there will be one completely live episode broadcast on Thursday 19th February.
*The killer of Lucy Beale will be revealed during the completely live episode
*The week will centre around the wedding of Ian and Jane Beale
*There will be a number of returning favourites for one-off appearances:

Peggy Mitchell, Tanya Branning and Christian Clarke

.
*A major storyline will begin involving Richard Blackwood being introduced into the programme
*The conclusion to Nick & Dot's current storyline

with many media sites reporting that she will kill him (or at least be accused of it)

.
*An aftermath programme will air following the live episode featuring backstage gossip and interviews with the cast.
*A flashback episode will air on Friday 20th February - we will learn exactly what happened the night Lucy died.

Tonight, a trailer for the 30th Anniversary week will be aired for the first time following the programme at 8:30pm.

Any day-to-day discussion can continue in the regular thread.

The official 'Live' week schedule:

Monday - The first ever episode will be aired on BBC Red Button, Graham Norton EastEnders Special on BBC One at 10:45pm
Tuesday - 30 minute episode at 7:30pm
Wednesday - 30 minute episode at 8pm
Thursday - 1 hour episode at 7:30pm [reveal of Lucy's killer] and 30 minute episode at 9:30pm [flashback episode]
Friday - 30 minute LIVE episode at 8pm

The trailer is soooooo creepy! :o

Ooh, exciting! Now wait for people to rip the advert apart for clues! :D

I think Ronnie will come out of her coma on anniversary week, hopefully surviving! Also, looking forward to who else will be returning - I'm sure someone will remain unconfirmed until the episode is broad-casted.

Incredible trailer! The hand prints on the steamed up window was very creepy!
The build up is just wonderful, i feel as excited about this live episode and reveal as i did for the who killed Archie live reveal.
What sort of ratings are people expecting/hoping for? Looking back at the lead up to the 25th anniversary, episodes were averaging just under 11m whilst the live episode had over 16m, so assuming ratings this year will continue to average 8m, the live episode should get 12-13m which is pretty outstanding for TV ratings these days.

I think the whole week will rate quite well actually. Apparently there will be six episodes airing over the five days. I'm gonna say low 9m on Monday, high 8m on Tuesday and Wednesday, 12m for the live episode on Thursday and 10m for the flashback episode on Friday.

Here's the first episode of 'Back to Ours' with Shane & Jessie (Kat & Alfie) looking back at their storylines...

There was the first episode of a special series '30 Years of Cliffhangers' on earlier as well!

I watched both the iPlayer and BBC3 programmes. Both I enjoyed, particularly the 30 Years of Cliffhangers which made me feel all nostalgic about the years I've watched EE.

That sounds quite ideal for a minimum!

I'm surprised Mick & Linda appeared in the top 100 so quickly (Linda less so, since she had loads during the rape storyline)! :o

Yeah I thought it was quite surprising too at first, but I suppose 2014 was rather Carter-dominant!

Next episode is Thursday 5th February rather than the Tuesday.

You can vote on the EastEnders homepage for Ian and Jane's wedding song. It's a choice of:

• The Power of Love - Jennifer Rush

• I Want to Know What Love Is - Foreigner

• You're the Inspiration - Chicago

• That Ole Devil Called Love - Alison Moyet

• There Must be an Angel (Playing with my heart) – Eurythmics

All were hits during 1985 - the year in which EastEnders started.
