It was very emotional and the portrayal for Stans cancer was excellently done. I do think Jim;s death should have been left seperate though and either helled back for a few weeks as the two deaths take from each other. Jim Bardon deserves a stand alone death on the show to mark his real life passing.

Im still gutted Stan is gone,i loved his one liners, i am a fan of the Carters especially Stan, Linda and Mick.

I'm not sure if I'm meant to, but I feel so sad for Babe! So many horrible things have been said to her recently!

I agree. I feel so bad for her always being sidelined and everyone being horrible to her.

But Mick and Shirley always do boneheaded things for boneheaded reasons and I bet they gave the same conversations over and over again for the next 6 weeks.

Friday's episode was really emotional, probably some of the best scenes (that I've seen) since the Live Week. I didn't know Stan's character at all and I wasn't overly familiar with Jim either as I only started watching originally the year that he originally had a stroke but it was really affecting acting from both the Carters and Jackson-Brannings. I agree that perhaps both deaths should have stood alone separately but I'm sure both characters will have large funeral episodes at separate times to give them the send-offs that they deserve.
I know they want the mirroring effect but why on Earth would they be on the same day in real life? It wouldn't be weird if not for Tina and Sonia being in a relationship. They can't exactly be there supporting each other when they're at separate funerals and they can't have either of them miss their respective relative's funerals because if wouldn't ring true.
Oh. Well I think that's a really bad executive decision made from the producers. Not only because Stan has been a large part of the last couple of months' storylines but because Jim Bardon/Branning was a huge part of EastEnders's history.

It might be that John Bardon's family wanted a fairly muted affair, rather than the week-long funeral which Frank Butcher received? I can't think of any other reason.
Yeah its the same with poor Anne Kirkbride on Corrie. The family comes first and that must be the way John's family wanted it.

I wouldn't object normally but the logistics of these two characters doesn't seem right when their both relatives to two characters that have a strong connection to each other. They could still have had a muted funeral for Jim anyway.

Besides from what I've heard, Stan has to muted funeral and Jim gets the big send off.

Stan's funeral is going to be overshadowed by

Linda confronting Dean about the rape and he finally admits to her that he did it

.

I'm interested as to whether there will be any one-off appearances from previous characters. It will be interesting to see what excuse they have for Bianca not turning up considering her character lives only half an hour away from Walford if Patsy is still in the US.
Surely Jack, April and Suzy will be back for the funeral?
The actor who played Jack had an interview with Digital Spy recently and said he wasn't wanting to return to EE - not sure if that rules him out or not - Suzy didn't care about anyone but herself so she may not care to come back for her father's funeral, and Buzzjack April is known by more people than EE April so will anyone even remember she exists? :P

If Bianca returns I think I might explode.

Hahahahahaha

I agree re: Suzy and April. Suzy was never really bothered about her family and no one even knows April.

By the way, I just read that back and I didn't mean for it to sound shady at you! :P

I could see maybe Tiff and Morgan returning.
