I haven'read one bad comment of review of the single. Everyone likes it but I guess they just aren't interested enough to buy it. The biggest issue is that major relevant stations won't play the song, only BBC Radio 2.

I just hope the album will do better. Plus, he will release another single before it (possibly Butterfly), so hopefully this will help him.

Massive boost after his Pallidium performance - Back in the iTunes chart at #48, Would be great if he could beat his #56 official peak but guessing it will fade away as quickly as it arrived.

I agree it probably won't do much in the end but it does show what just little promo could do - if only Radio 1 would give a nod to this, it would have been on the top of the chart, I'm sure of it because I still haven't stumbled upon 1 bad reaction or a review. He just simply needs to catch a break...

In case someone is interested, his performance can be seen here, it starts at 24:30:

Also, I think this is his best performance of the song yet, he didn't skip the higher notes like before, he felt comfortable enough to hit them.

^^ Totally agree that some radio exposure would have made this huge if just 1 performance can move it from outside the iTunes Top 500+ to the Top 50 in a few hours, Also I think the song is really current with what's doing well at the moment with the likes of Sam Smith etc,

Hopefully overall sales won't be too tragic and enough for Mark to think it's worthwhile to continue to self fund releases, Just a shame that it bombed in Ireland - I thought that was the one market where it would do well.

Yes, I was actually shocked how bad it was in Ireland, I truly don't understand - I was sure at least Westlife fans would back him up.

And you are right, the song is very current - heck, if Sam Smith released it, it would have been no. 1 for sure. But sadly radio stations are such hypocrites, the song is perfect for today's music industry but because he is a Westlife member, they don't want to play it.

And you know, since he is praised so much by the critics, maybe record labels will give in to his vision and back him up so he could have a great record deal in the future - maybe he won't need to self-release his next album, it would certainly made everything easier for him and would give him a better chance of succeeding.

Oh wait, there ARE people who hate this just because he is from Westlife, I was mistaken...

You made that perfectly clear, no point in repeating it. It is obvious you are simply a Westlife hater so you will hate everything that the Westlife members do.
It's awful and so is he.

Great input into the discussion - There are many acts I dislike (Olly Murs being one) but I appreciate he has a fanbase on here and many threads so I chose to not visit them rather than post how awful I think he is then leave

Michael basically hates everything, ignore him.

I hated Westlife, but love this, i actually like all of the solo stuff from them, better off seperate it seems.

He had good promo in Ireland too - Maybe he left it just a little bit too late to capitalise on the success of WL, Also think it was a mistake not to release a physical and have signings something that WL fans loved was buying a physical format - Am sure it gave Shane a boost when he sold signed copies online, I remember that he kept adding extra as they were selling out.

Love Shane's solo album and this from Markus, Was really disappointed with Kian's album though - Suprising that none of them yet have managed to become really successful as a solo artist, There is usually 1 that emerges as a big solo star from boy/girl bands. I guess Brian McFadden has been the most successful after he left but that seemed quite short lived too.

I agree, he really should have released physical copies as well, I was surprised that he didn't give that option. Westlife fans loved physical releases, it was stupid not to have that. Shane's situation says it all...

While Kian's album is nothing special, I enjoyed the fact I could hear his voice, he definitely proved he can sing.

Brian had a chance to become the most successful one but everything got destroyed thanks to his public and bitter divorce. I think if he released the best thing in the world right now, the public would still hate it, his career is doomed sadly. BUT I'm glad he is recording a new album despite everything.

Interesting point from Regina, that they are better off solo... I think that shows they are all very creative individuals, if only Syco allowed them to be like that in the band. If they come back in the future, I do hope they will be smart enough to use their creativity and actually make a great original album on their own.

Pleased this is still hanging on in the Top 150 iTunes chart - If only he could have followed up the Palladium performance with a few radio interviews/daytime TV performances - Surely there is still enough interest in him from the WL days to be able to get on these kind of shows?

Looking forward to what he comes out with next although I fear airplay support will be zero after this missing the Top 50 :(

I agree, even just a little promo would do wonders. However, I don't think it has anything to do with interest, I guess it is just a lot harder to get anything when he is self-releasing everything...

BUT, Shane's situation wasn't any better either when it comes to promo either - the only big thing was a performance on X Factor Finale, although sadly, he didn't even get a chance to sing his own song.... So I really don't know where the real problem lies.

And also, I think airplay support has been pretty zero even now so I don't think it can get any worse. Until he gets the support from A list radios, nothing will change - having huge support from Radio 2 or some other B stations is almost next to nothing I'm afraid.

The reason Shane didnt do well was his solo music was very similar in style in Westlife and full of dreary songs. At least Markus has gone for a bit of a different style and something more creative which stands out.
