The OCC confirm the 12.7k gap between Madonna and Sam Smith, so sales are correct. I think we just need to accept that Madonna's sales are lower than expected.

Sam Smith is listed twice on the Radio 1 site as well, OCC must be treating the CR single as a separate entity ^_^
Looks like Sam Smith is heading to #1 by the end of the week, at least its better than the horrendous track by Flo Rida, so I'm happy with that, it can only increase after Comic Relief on Friday.

Have they stopped revealing the midweek album #1 or did they just not want to mention Madonna being at #1? :P
Clara just said the two versions of Lay Me Down are being counted twice/separately, and will be played twice on Sunday.

It's the same song. OCC are a bunch of idiots to treat both versions as two different songs. Disgrace is what it is

Agreed. Rooting for Years & Years though!

SS will only get #1 if OCC do the decent thing and combine sales for both versions which they should be doing

Looks like even the OCC are doing everything they can to prevent that snoozefest from being #1

To be fair, it seems like the John Legend featuring version of 'Lay Me Down' has been released as a single rather than a remix like the A$AP Rocky and Mary J Blige features were on his previous songs. And obviously money from the John Legend version will go to Comic Relief and any other version of 'Lay Me Down' won't.

That's a very good point actually, maybe that explains why they've decided to chart it separately.

I think OCC have to do chart the single separate, as they have to split the sales to donate to Comic Relief, it would make more sense, the donations have to go somewhere instead to the original track, that's the most logical explanation that I can think of.

I'm assuming this'll mean there will be no streams included?

I think there is also physicals attached to it, as 2% is given out of its total, 97% download sales and 1% stream sales from what I can make out. That 2% has to be physicals.

And this will be the second time Flo Rida has stopped Comic Relief from reaching #1

At the moment, streams are contributing towards the original version and now the CR version is available to stream, hopefully it will help the song out

Strange, when I used the find function it never showed up

Slightly off topic but sometimes when I use Firefox's, it stops working and I need to reopen the tab :drama: (also you could check if Case sensitive is turned on/off :P)

Not sure if that's a good or bad thing tbh

Also not sure if the CR version will be streamed much/even available to stream? I know these two artists are some of the biggest streamed artists these days but seeing it's Comic Relief I'm not too sure...

EDIT: Oh  :drama:

Commenting on the update later :P

Perhaps for the first time ever, I am willing a Flo Rida single to be number one ('Troublemaker' doesn't really count, does it?)
If the two Sam Smith versions enter seperately, I hope both make it into the Top 10 officially. Then the OCC will look daft for not combining them

Perhaps the record label doesn't want sales of both versions combined? The decision to combine sales rests initially with the record label / distributor as it is they who input all data to the OCC Product Database and it is the label or distributor who has to nominate the "main track / version" to which sales of all variants of a track have to be linked to. The ultimate decision on whether sales of different versions of a track get combined is down to the OCC but if the label have requested that sales be separated then the OCC will accept this if there is a good reason for this to happen.
