March 11, 201510 yr Author OK, what about three generations? Any examples where an artist's parent and also grandparent has made the charts? Ian Campbell Folk Band charted in 1965, his son was Ali Campbell of UB40. As a soloist he charted with his daughter Kibbi on Somethin Stupid. Aaron of Sam & The Whomp's father is Trevor Horn of Buggles later a successful producer
March 11, 201510 yr Joe Brown and daughter Sam Brown. In addition, Joe's wife Vicki managed to achieve something neither Joe or Sam achieved - a number 1 single, albeit uncredited. Vicki provided the female vocals on J.J. Barrie's 1976 chart topper, 'No Charge'.
March 11, 201510 yr The closest I can think of to three generations starts with Ewan MacColl. He didn't have a hit as a performer, but he did write The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face and other hits. His daughter, Kirsty MacColl, had hits both as a performer and as a writer. Her nephew (and Ewan's grandson), Jamie, is in Bombay Bicycle Club. Jamie MacColl is also the son of Neill MacColl, who had chart success as a member of the Bible. (this makes him the grandson of Peggy Seeger and the great-nephew of Pete Seeger). Neither they nor the Mumbai Velocipede Association has had a Top 40 single though. On a different musical tip, LMFAO are an uncle and nephew and Redfoo is the son of Berry Gordy (obviously best-known as the founder of Motown but also had a Number One single as a songwriter) and the half-brother of Rockwell.
