March 19, 201511 yr Sadly they wouldn't have been #1 even with streaming, most likely :( Ed Sheeran's streaming put him a safe distance ahead. Would've given it a *bit* more longevity though.
March 19, 201511 yr It's not streaming that dramatically reduced the No.1 turnover recently, it's a combination of a couple of massive songs coming out when literally nothing else is around. You can't possibly dismiss Hozier's Take Me To Church as "literally nothing". But I guess streaming was probably making up a significant part of his chart sales also. March 19, 201511 yr But even that was released about seven months ago Yep but it was "around" when the two big songs in question were at number 1.
March 19, 201511 yr If they'd had their single up for streaming Union J arguably might have held on to their career for a little longer, as if they'd made the #1 it would have dropped from the chart nowhere near as fast due to the 'Number 1 effect'. Doubt it, they were dropped like most X Factor groups as they are basic and uninspired imo.

Sorry, I meant in terms of new releases. Last year there were at least one or two major singles released every week.
March 19, 201511 yr Sorry, I meant in terms of new releases. Last year there were at least one or two major singles released every week. I agree. I guess you made it sound like they were default number 1s when their sales held up, albeit with streaming added.
March 19, 201511 yr I take it there is no update today :( It would have been posted if so. Question. Do album streams get counted in the midweeks? I presume so! I don't see why they wouldn't tbh.
March 19, 201511 yr Question. Do album streams get counted in the midweeks? I love the way you prefixed your question with the word question  But yeah I'm pretty certain they do.
March 19, 201511 yr Ha the point last night I made was basically in relation to songs with high preorders but low sales so we won't see song selling 65k unless sales drop ridiculously low.
March 19, 201511 yr Easy #1 for Sam Smith then. Good to see Years & Years with some great sales at #2 too. Ed Sheeran still in the album top 5 is ridiculous though  How long has he been there?
March 19, 201511 yr Easy #1 for Sam Smith then. Good to see Years & Years with some great sales at #2 too. Ed Sheeran still in the album top 5 is ridiculous though  How long has he been there? 30+ weeks now?! Didn't it dip to #6 for one glorious week a while back!
March 19, 201511 yr So Sam Smith #1 this week :puke2:, then Jess next week, then Ed/Rudimental the following week?
March 20, 201511 yr Problem with the MW database, from what I can make out Firestone is #38, Pitbull #30, MNEK #29 Tough Love #11 that's all the new entries. There isn't an album chart yet. Once everything is fixed, I add an update.
