relying on some people in my semi liking it more than they liked '1-800MYLOVE' instantly also (Mattias particularly stands out as one of those :kink:)

I can confirm that this is the case :P

Jadakissnia Man-go to the final with MONOMOTION!

It was announced tonight in The Actual Republic of Bellamia that Jadakissnia have defied the (Aeroche) odds and have made the BJSC 97 final! It comes as a bit of a surprise to us that MONOMOTION - 'Mango Bay' has qualified after being dubbed as "the worst thing we've ever sent" by Beaverdonia and "air/our worst nightmare" by Hendinia! These were both two people from our own semi but thankfully wrong semi syndrome didn't quite occur so we're elated! 'Mango Bay' is our 20th qualifier to date out of a possible 24 so that's a bit of a milestone right there! We have also equalled our longest qualifying streak of 5 again (last happened between BJSC 81-85 and 87-91) after qualifying with aYia, BÖ, Hugar, King Plague and now MONOMOTION! Thanks to everyone who pointed us in semi 2 <3 please support this lovely ambient song in the final, we have been drawn in slot 40.

Our 12 from the semi made it through but sadly we had to say adios to our silver medal! This was Cadelicia's brilliant 'Distante' by Meg who definitely could pass for an Italian Björk. We then lost all of our 5-3 point section, these were: Thelonia with 'I Feel Alright' by Bonzai, Buzzjack Mountain with 'From My Lerv' by Lee Mills and Deandria with 'RAJKA' by A_GIM feat. Klark. Shoutout also to our big losses of Espen, Cumulonimbia and Unovia in the other semi! </3

MONOMOTION - Mango Bay

http://i.imgur.com/jADiXk0.jpg

The BJSC 97 final took place a couple of nights ago in Aeroche, as they generously filled in after extenuating circumstances for our original hosts cropped up. We experienced quite the journey with our entry 'Mango Bay' by MONOMOTION as it yo-yoed up and down the scoreboard throughout. At one point we hit a peak of 5th. But of course this didn't quite last and after tumbling back down we recovered to 24th place with 173 points. It was a little frustrating to take a tumble after that peak but we'll take 24th as it is still higher than most predicted us. We're still in amazement that we qualified in the first place to be honest. Sadly 'Mango Bay' is our worst performing finalist of the year in terms of both position and points, which is a shame as it is our favourite song that we have sent in 2017. But at least it was a unique position (this is the fifth time we have finished in the 20s region: 26th for JJ's 'All White Everything' (79), 25th for Perturbator's 'Sentient' (84), 21st for aYia's 'Ruins' (93) and 22nd for Hugar's 'Waves' (95) were our previous finishers in this section). This wasn't quite our worst semi final finish of the year however! We were surprised to come as high as 15th there when we were adamant it would be a scrape in a nightmare semi. Also... we had a wonderful medal positions haul. Including a second 18 ever in a main contest from our close allies Persephonia for the first time since our debut! We also received an 18 from South Danaelanda, 15 from Tartford and 13s from Flynnonda and Kluminican Republic. <3

Quintessa scooped the crown for this edition with infectious electroswing delight 'Gypsy (Catch Me If You Can)' by Norda & Mike De Ville feat. Joanna Jones with the highest points total of the year, a staggering 379 of them! Congratulations to the nation for their debut win. A big thumbs up as we awarded them 10 points! Our 18 points this edition went to Zanmatony with euphoric Spanish throwback 'Bailando' by Paradisio. These were the first points we had ever given to Zanmatony in a final, so they got off the mark in style! This entry of course finished in a frustrating 11th, our fourth 18 to finish in this position this year as we are simply cursed in 2017. Our 15 was breathtaking 11 minute black metal entry 'Hearth' by Saor, sent by Persephonia. That Jadaphonia 18 swap was so close. This finished in 21st so another frustrating position for a favourite, buuuut it was still a solid result for such a risky entry. We were then once again entranced by the magic of Steven Wilson (following 'Routine') and gave 13 points to Terra Avium for the gorgeous 'Pariah'. This performed marvellously in the contest and finished as high as 2nd, meaning that Terra Avium have the same bridesmaid peak as us in the contest now.

Thanks to the following for voting for us: Quintessa, Avalonia, Summericia, Triangledonia, Lotunia, Tartford, Flynnonda, South Danaelanda, Persephonia, Singerpurear, Cadelicia, Espen, Cumulonimbia, Altyr Muunilinst, Zanmatony, Desbuanda, Kluminican Republic, Terra Avium + Aelandor

✘ VETOED ✘

Looks like us Jadakissnian people stepped out of the #inspiredbloc this month because we have been vetoed for the first time ever ahead of the BJSC 98 semis  The blog coverage sadly piled up and prevented us from entering Kelela's 'LMK', an artist we discovered mere days ago. Please check out 'LMK' above if you think it may have been your thing, really feels like quite old-school Aaliyah-esque R&B to my ears. <3 Luckily we already had a backup as this was a reconfirmation in the first place! Soooo back to Bollyhop wonderfulness we go...

Don't say that Cody! :kink: This was not the best start to our 25th contest sooo I need to salvage some goodness by getting a new Q streak record!

For like a spliiiit second I was toying with the idea of sending Kelela - LMK myself but thought that it would indeed get vetoed. Love her Hallucinogen EP especially, although that's a bit different in sound to this r&b banger, bit more of electronic subtlety.

Sorry also for what happened with 'Mango Bay' after I was in this thread to say I like it more than '1-800MYLOVE' :kink: I was surely expecting to give it points but I ended up largely enjoying the final so much that I had to leave out both you and the eventual winner in my votes, after pointing them each highly in the semis

Oh wow Mattias! :o slay at our taste crossover when you were also toying with sending Tearist - 'Headless' too haha. I have also been told that Leww wanted to send 'LMK' but also didn't try it due to thinking it would be vetoed! I did think you would be a fan of this song though tbh 'cause I noticed you had posted a while ago in a thread of hers in R&B *.* My heart sank a bit when I saw how many blogs it was on but I fell in love with it so thought I would give it a shot. Ahh well, I hope my attempted sending of it can at least lead a couple more people to discover it. Ooh I shall have to check out her Hallucinogen EP ~ Arca had a hand in that one didn't he? :o electronic subtlety sounds good to me <3

Oh yes I was like aww when I saw that you had given 'Mango Bay' points in the semi but none in the final but no worries, it happens! Shall have to wait and see if you're a fan of my entry this month I guess ;o

oh wow yess, 'Headless' was a tune as well, I'd forgotten about that! That was in my "back pocket of potentials" for months but something always stopped me from sending it  So I was pleased to see you go for it as I probably wouldn't have! And yeah, Arca was a producer on that Kelela EP, he's been doing a lot of great stuff, I listened to his self-titled album a few weeks ago and ended up really enjoying that too *.*

Haha, it was too good to have not been unleashed by somebody *.* I actually thought it was going to be a bit of a risky entry so I sent it in January with the chance that I might have an AQ from coming 2nd the previous contest, then it ended up coming 12th and the supposedly 'safe' entry I had lined up for next month SOLDOUT DNQed  it's weird how these things work out *_* and ahhh slay, I had read that he was involved with some of her stuff but wasn't sure exactly what. I loved that Arca song 'Vanity' that was entered to the Instrumentals spinoff, and Leww introduced me to 'Desafío' from the eponymous EP which is 11/10 incredible, I should probably check out the whole thing too, especially if you're on board!
