Cheltenham Gold Cup-winning jockey Graham Bradley has died at the age of 65.

Bradley rode more than 700 winners during his 22-year career in the saddle and enjoyed a successful partnership with trainer Michael Dickinson.

His greatest success came in the 1983 Gold Cup, when he guided Bregawn to victory as Dickinson famously saddled the first five home.

Former Chelsea and Leeds United owner Ken Bates has died at the age of 94.

Chelsea announced the death of Bates on Saturday, saying he "passed away peacefully in Monaco this morning surrounded by his wife and family".

Bates bought Chelsea for £1 in 1982 when they were in the old Second Division, taking on debts of £1.5m, and set about turning around their fortunes.

He eventually sold the club to Roman Abramovich in 2003 in a deal worth £140m when they were in the English top flight.

The club were heavily in debt when Bates sold his shares. He stayed on as chairman at Stamford Bridge before stepping down in 2004.

Chelsea said in a statement: "It is with great sadness that we share the news of the loss of Ken Bates, former owner and chairman of Chelsea Football Club.

"The club sends our heartfelt condolences to Ken's wife Suzannah, the rest of his family and his friends.

"Ken's determination to fight for Chelsea when times were tough, and drive the team on to winning trophies will never be forgotten."

American boxer Hannah Rapp died on Saturday after being hit by a car while cycling in Texas.

Rapp, 26, was passed by a car which suddenly came to a stop then reversed into her, according to the Brazos County sheriff's office.

The driver has been arrested and charged with manslaughter.

Rapp challenged for the WBC women's featherweight championship in June, losing to Tiara Brown in Orlando, which left her with an 8-1-1 record.

WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman said in a statement: "She was an exceptional boxer, but above all, an invaluable member of our boxing family."

Former Newcastle United manager and England captain and manager Kevin Keegan has died aged 75, seven weeks after he revealed he had been diagnosed with stage four cancer.

No surprise, but sad news. I hope he was well enough to have seen Saturday's match.
