Jack Charlton, part of the England 1966 World Cup winning team and former Republic of Ireland manager has passed away aged 85.

It’s not been a good year for the Leeds team of the 70s. Jack Charlton follows Norman Hunter and Trevor Cherry in dying this year.

The Charlton brothers provided a classic example of how the best players don’t necessarily make the best managers. Bobby was undoubtedly the better player of the two but Jack was the more successful manager by a long way.

Rip Jack a true Irishman, last saw him at the Ireland England friendly in 2017! Absolute legend who arguably revolutionised the Irish national side.

Jack Charlton was Ireland's favourite Englishman. He was given honorary Irish citizenship in 1996 and was often seen fishing on the River Moy in Ballina,County Mayo.

To be part of the greatest World Cup achievements for both England and Ireland makes him one of a kind.
