November 14, 20168 yr Well back then I was completely new and didn't start to really pay attention until around BJSC 79 (+ I pointed Noemi and Kai Tracid), so you've come a LOOOOOOOOOONG way omg that reminds me: how am I going to rate "This Girl" </3 That's fair, didn't have many hits in 2015 anyway...Storm, Noemi, IAMX and Kai Tracid were the only ones who qualified with Kai Tracid ranking the highest!! And treat Kungs as if it never became a huge WW hit!!!
November 14, 20168 yr I'll see if I can find something similar to Audrey Napoleon again at some point. xo
November 14, 20168 yr 'Virtual Paradise' in your top 40! A good choice as that's still very much up there as one of my favourite of my own~

November 22, 20168 yr Author BJSC 2016: #TheRoadSoFar http://66.media.tumblr.com/711a918ddd27d47924da25688ef7f019/tumblr_ms3xpxiDhR1sdifoio4_500.gif Opening Statement: *"Carry On My Wayward Son" starts playing* Doing the rankings for this contest and thinking about a theme has been pretty... cathartic. I mean, it's pretty clear that the quality of my entries has regressed despite a win and two more top 10's... I don't know. Maybe the face of BJSC is changing and we just have to keep up with it, maybe being mainstream works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't (but in this year's entries it has worked). I have learned one thing: I don't really know how this works. One period of time you've picked up a string of hits and the next you're not even sure if the next three or so entries will qualify. And I feel for those who have been frustrated with their content and their direction because I've been there. I've questioned whether or not I still wanted to do this. But that's just how the system works: things click when they want to, and recreating an old formula so many times just doesn't seem to work. So I went back to that, and I've sent what may be my favorite songs I've sent this year. So to those who have helped me rekindle that fire and those who have motivated me to jump out of the box, thank you.
November 22, 20168 yr I agree sticking to the same sound doesn't seem to work although if I'm being honest indie does seem to work for me. Also HYPE!

November 22, 20168 yr The Witney Carson & Lindsay Arnold Award for Most Surprising Point Swap: South Danaelanda & Ethanola - BJSC 82 Ethan pointed Paperwhite and that wasn't even a dance song! Is there something you're not telling us? I let him win the contest in exchange for him giving me 18 points. :o (disclaimer: that was a joke, inb4 people start calling me Lee) Nah, I think he just really liked the song, he often gives big points to songs not considered 'dance'. And he didn't give me 18 points for many of my actual dance entries!

November 26, 20168 yr Author BJSC 2016: #TheRoadSoFar http://66.media.tumblr.com/711a918ddd27d47924da25688ef7f019/tumblr_ms3xpxiDhR1sdifoio4_500.gif Play By Play: *"Carry On My Wayward Son" starts playing* So this next part is dedicated to all the past entries that I've sent, but this time they're gonna be delegated to a time span of every three months. The reason being that I don't want to revisit this and have the browser crash on me because there were too many videos. BJSC 81 (January 2016): MIIA - "Dynasty (Elephante Remix)" 0TFxEERjS14 So Elephante has become one of my favorite EDM producers as of late, and it's not because the time he was sent before was pretty good and I wanted to recycle (although "I Want You" was one of the best entries last year, COME BACK TO US APRIL). It was because after that, every other single that he released seemed to have gotten better and better. So I was pretty ecstatic to see this end up in his EP a couple months ago (waaaaaay after I sent this). I like how this was kinda where progressive house was going, where it experimented but kept that rush of euphoria a standard progressive house track had. And this was the type of song that I got obsessed with during the last two weeks of last year, and four more later and I sent it. I don't want to write it off because it was pretty commercial and that's the stuff I thrive off of. Generic it may be, but it's still hauntingly addicting. You can stream a remastered version of "Dynasty" and the rest of his EP I Am The Elephante in this little link. (and now that I realize it I just stuffed his EP down all your throats. SOMEONE SEND CATCHING ON PLZ) BJSC 82 (February 2016): Pixel Fix - "You Settle Me" ZaxGQhbZIL8 Why did I choose to relive this quarter...? So this was pretty painful, and to see one of my favorite entries of the year get completely shit on by everyone except Mattias and Harry (the latter who gave me hope that this was another "wrong semi languisher") was pretty horrible. Don't really go back to this contest because it pretty much started me vs. Grant and me vs. the entirety of the Lottsey clique other than Lindsey (which, by the way, you are a REAL ONE. If I want someone to send the potentials I chicken out on and Addy has already got something under his sleeve, I want you to send them because clearly you need a top 10), but this was such a stellar track. BJ 10th Anniversary: Kristina Karo - "Karo Train" UsSRzjTw4-A I barely even remember this contest, hell I barely remember where this placed.
November 26, 20168 yr First of all yes at Silverline getting top 20 in last year's BJSC EOY I am glad you loved it  Secondly at that award I got yasss I agree, #Justice4Flynnonda
December 4, 20168 yr Author http://s8.favim.com/orig/151006/celebrities-flash-funny-gif-Favim.com-3400318.gif "Never Stop" has joined The Naked And Famous in the semis of this year's TBO! Go vote for them in any way possible!
December 10, 20168 yr Author I didn't forget about this :P (Not like Teen Wolf did with Stiles oops #spoilers) BJSC 2016: #TheRoadSoFar http://66.media.tumblr.com/711a918ddd27d47924da25688ef7f019/tumblr_ms3xpxiDhR1sdifoio4_500.gif Play By Play: *"Carry On My Wayward Son" starts playing* Movies (February/March 2016): Apollo 440 - "Charlie's Angels 2000" Oh yeah I almost forgot about the Movies spin-off lol. I had originally confirmed Sevyn Streeter's FF7 song (sampling Bang La Decks before they won) but then switched to this because I somehow forgot one of my favorite movies existed. Charlie's Angels was always a childhood fave of mine and I was so glad to share this. Maybe sometime I can actually join the Rabb.it festivities and shove that movie down your throats. It was also nice to see Apollo 440 qualify for the main BJSC under the Usfland regime. BJSC 83 (Aptil 2016): Rain Man f/OLY - "Bring Back The Summer" I... didn't expect to come back to a BJSC final so soon. I also didn't expect to get a top 10 so soon. However, I actually liked the feeling of having a surprise hit, both here and in real life - with the Spotify scrapes and the commercial dance airplay success. Maybe being vetoed was a good thing... it's always led me to surprise hits. I also thought about sending Marshmello's "Alone" at one point but I think one commercial dance success per year is enough for me. Listen to his latest single "Habit" though, it's HEAVENLY. BJSC 84 (May 2016): Atlas Genius - "Stockholm" So this wasn't fun. After the DNQ I didn't really bother with the contest until I came back from Hawaii. Lack of WiFi and too many fun things to do kinda does that to a person. Then again I thought 84 was the weakest contest anyway so it made sense. WorldVision II (May 2016): Radio Killer - "Feelings" I got to represent Romania for this edition of the contest, and man was it easier than Morocco to find something that was more commercial and ear-friendly. Although, I was also pretty surprised that this got as high as it did. I actually had this as a potential from last year but then forgot about it, and getting Romania actually reminded me of this song. It was a pretty good day rediscovering it. BJSC 85: JR JR - "Gone (Robert Delong Remix)" So apparently this year was big on flops and surprise hits, "Gone" being the second of them. Turns out I still had some in me when it came to commercial alternative. It was also the continuation of the flop-veto-surprise hit pattern that I had going on. I was unsure whether this would get vetoed as well, given that it was the third time DeLong had been entered (albeit with a remix that I'm pretty sure will get slammed unlike his other entries), but I'm glad it didn't.
December 17, 20168 yr Author And in a shock twist (after much torment by Daehun), The Naked And Famous are through to the finals of TBO! I... still don't understand how this happened - I didn't think it would get that much support to get through (with "Never Stop" coming exactly where I expected in the semis), but this is a welcoming surprise. Keep showing your love during the finals!
December 17, 20168 yr 'Stockholm' and 'You Settle Me' were definitely your big highlights from the first half of the year  Criminal that they both DNQed!
December 18, 20168 yr Author BJSC 2016: #TheRoadSoFar http://66.media.tumblr.com/711a918ddd27d47924da25688ef7f019/tumblr_ms3xpxiDhR1sdifoio4_500.gif Play By Play: *"Carry On My Wayward Son" starts playing* BJSC 86 (July 2016): Snow Tha Product - "Nuestra Canciòn" Yay we're halfway :P My first venture into foreign langauge. I didn't really expect a Spanish hip hop song to be my first foreign language song (personally I thought I would give in to K-pop before entering any other language) but this was still a painful flop. I kinda got pretty disoriented and started losing interest in the contest as a whole and it took stepping back and just trying out willy nilly for the next spin-off to find my direction, which kinda explains the next two songs: Reinvention (July 2016): Sofia Carson - "Love Is The Name" So I kinda entered this out of pure reflex and it was the one song I was obsessed woth for the past three months so I decided to try it out here because I had a small feeling this would have DNQ'd in the actual contest. Needless to say that this didn't flop on its ass so that's a plus for me. Shout out to this song for getting me back into the whole Radio Disney playlist thing after avoiding extremely generic teen pop for a while. And it was a good thing that this cleared my head, because it led me to discover this... BJSC 87 (August 2016): The Naked And Famous - "Higher" Probably my best decision to ignore the naysayers who thought this was gonna get vetoed, I mean they've been gone for three years so why not? And I thought this was gonna continue the DNQ-veto-surprise hit pattern I've gotten for the past few months. It wasn't a veto, but it was a much bigger surprise. From underdog to winner. I'm so glad that it got as far as it did despite much opposition from the Lottsey clique sans Lindsey because hello this is typical indie rock, and I didn't expect it to WIN either so yay. Also one of my favorite contests in terms of production and hosting, not just based on quality. The results had a few other shocks as well. What the hell happened with "Wild Child", guys? That should have gotten a medal position :( BJSC 88 (September 2016): Nhato f/Sasi - "Way Of Life" Listen here! And the subsequent AQ was also another song I was proud to send despite its tragic performance on the charts. I discovered it a few days after hearing "Higher" but decided to save it in what I dubbed "The Comeback Trio" (which wasn't really a comeback as it consisted of two bottom fives and a win, the inconsistency). I was also faced with the challenge of hosting and having to adjust deadlines to coincide with the huge time zone gap (word of advice: don't post deadlines on a Sunday). Luckily that went well and we got to see a good winner and a sigh of relief from me. And it was also nice to pass the baton to Jade. Next time either of us win, we need a BJSC 74 squad hosting sesh.
