Posted March 27, 200619 yr Come on guys, get those creative juices flowing, vent your spleen, show your enthusiasm or otherwise for any given week's new releases... The only rules are, please no reviews that consist only of "this film rules" or "this film sucks" - tell us why you think it rules, why you think it sucks. Give a brief plot outline (but not too much that it'll give the game away), a main body outlining your thoughts, a conclusion and a mark out of 10 would be useful as well..... But above all, have fun with it..... :)
March 27, 200619 yr I was thinking of doing my Top 20 movies of all time (with Pics) would this be ok? Another idea is to get this forum a bit like a movie magazine - a Reviews section, a Box Office section, Release schedules, DVD sections, Cinema reviews (the actual venue not the film....!)

That's a pretty good idea Jester, it was kinda what I was hoping would happen when I came up with the reviews idea in the first place - a round-up of cinema locations would be a pretty neat idea as well. As soon as I can figure out how to do sub-forums, I'll try and get on this. Your top 20 films of all-time is a pretty cool idea too - make it so, as Jean Luc Picard would say....
March 27, 200619 yr Great idea! Will there be a special thread to post our reviews in or should we just start a new thread for every review?
March 28, 200619 yr Author The plan is to do sub-forums - one for Recent Releases, one for DVDs and one for reports of your local fleapits.... :)
March 28, 200619 yr I'll do a few reviews sometime too... but do they have to be only for the current movies or can i review a few older ones too ?
March 28, 200619 yr Author I'll do a few reviews sometime too... but do they have to be only for the current movies or can i review a few older ones too ? It depends how old, I would say anything within a month is cool (the average time a film stays in the cinema is usually a month or so..), after that, it would have to go under DVD review. Hope that clears things up.. :)
March 29, 200619 yr I'd love to do the Nightmare On Elmstreet films. Reviews for all of them would be brilliant :D
March 29, 200619 yr Author I got PMed by Phil last night - he's not sure about whether to add sub-forums for the review things or not, so what I suggest is just put the reviews in the main forum body and in the description of the topic describe whether it is a New Release, DVD, Retro Film or Theatre Review... If and when we get the sub-forums, I'll move em... The more reviews we get up and running, the better likelihood there is of getting the sub-forums.....

Reviews for all of them would be brilliant :D That's a cool idea actually, I'd thought about adding a bit for Retro/Classic Film reviews....(anything that's over 10-15 years old would be the only stipulation...) - but Elm St is okay because the cycle started over 20 years ago.... Make it so....

March 30, 200619 yr I will bringing you a Dawn Of The Dead (original) review as it's one of my favourite films.
May 29, 200619 yr Ooooo, i'll write some, i work at blockbusters and want to do english at uni so i suppose it'd be perfect :P
June 8, 200619 yr What's the deal with this? Is it going a head cos I haven't seen any film reviews on here. Unless I'm just being lazy and not looking hard enough. Nevertheless... movies are my life. What do you want me to review? I have a cinema opposite my house. No lie.

Nevertheless... movies are my life. What do you want me to review? I have a cinema opposite my house. No lie. hi Ms Presto! Infact I was discussing this yesterday and we can't decide whether to have a seperate sub-forum solely for reviews or to add reviews inside the movies forum with a title prefix of [REVIEW]... If a sub-forum was made I woudnt want the actual reviews discussion to detract from the movies forum itself.
June 8, 200619 yr I understand.. A few thoughts, if I may comment? add reviews inside the movies forum with a title prefix of [REVIEW]... Well, you could do this but wouldn't the review get lost amoung the other threads on this forum? If a sub-forum was made I woudnt want the actual reviews discussion to detract from the movies forum itself If a sub-forum was added purely for reviews then that would solve the problem of the review threads getting lost. I understand what you mean about them potentially distracting from the main forum, but I don't think they will. People come on this forum to talk about other things as well as reviews about movies surely? Tell me to shut up if I'm wrong cos I'm new and haven't become aquainted properly with everything on here. To solve both problems can you use some form of "sticky" or "announcement" function on the forum for mods/admins? They can sticky a review to the top and then there's no need for a sub-forum. However, there's a problem with the forum being over run by sticky reviews at the top and the proper threads waaaaayy down the page. And I hate scrolling. The other problem is a lot of admin work on the mods part, in deleting old reviews etc... It's your call Mr Boss Man! EDITED cos I cant spell.... Edited June 8, 200619 yr by Ms Presto
June 9, 200619 yr the post-requisite spell check is always allowed! Ok sub-forum it is!! Let me speak to the movie mods and get back to you :) // looks back on his spelling :D
June 9, 200619 yr Um.. thanks! Erm... I was only giving some pointers..lol. I have designed and modified my own forum here: http://www.theordinaryarmyforum.co.uk It's only a pants phpBB, but it does me.
June 9, 200619 yr takes a while to modify forums fully, I spent rather a long time on BuzzJack already. If I see a good idea I go with it and I believe a movies sub-forum will be just that. Will add it this evening!
