Australian mixed indie-pop band Sheppard have announced that A Grade Playa will be the fifth single from debut album Bombs Away (released in the UK next month, supposedly), following Let Me Down Easy, the global smash Geronimo, Something's Missing and Smile.

The powerful pop song, about an ex-boyfriend of singer Amy Sheppard, was sent to BJSC by FSR Rontvia last year and failed to qualify for the final. But don't let that put you off because it's a really great track with some powerful vocals and gorgeous harmonies. Studio, live (as filmed by moi last month) and nightcore versions are below:

On a more personal note, I'm elated to see this announced as a single, it was by far my favourite song of last year and I always thought it would make a great single, hopefully they'll film a video for it

20000th thread tho *.*

I wanted to snatch that honour

I *may* have made this thread just for that purpose *.* But what better way to mark it than with this ikonec DNQ?

Nightcore versions of songs should be included in ALL topics. 11/10 20000th thread for this alone.

Song's rather great in the normal version too, stunning choice for a single.

Not feeling the video its a bit boring if I'm honest but it has improved the song for me. It's pretty decent actually giving it more credit than I originally thought.

Shame Geronimo killed their chances of getting anymore songs potentially doing well really :(

They really deserve to be much more than a one hit wonder imo (of course in the UK they're barely even that thanks to the year release delay and various other factors that killed it off).

I hope they can come back strong with a killer lead single next time but I sadly doubt they'll see much more success, although with Scooter Braun as their international manager I'm quite surprised that they haven't managed to land another hit anywhere.

This is really good! Only the second song I've heard of theirs, but no way would I reconcile it as being the same act who did 'Geronimo' if I hadn't known who it was by. :o
