Is it true that Island dropped Leona???

 

Yeah. From what Soe has said, it seems like Leona choosing to do Cats was the deciding factor. They clearly didn't work well together in hindsight. She's still with Def Jam in the US though and will be looking into signing with another Universal label in the UK.

The Leona situation is not ideal. I really believe she will struggle to have any further mainstream success. Everything just appears to have gone wrong and it truly has her work cut out to solve it. With Leona, it is hard to see where she belongs or what would be the best record company for her.

I think her management should approach The Queen of Katwe producers (or director) about shooting and releasing Thick Skin as the movie's official promotional song. Everyone's been doing promotional songs this year, JT for Trolls, Pink for Alice in Wonderland, Suicide Squad also just released a video. It would really fit today's movie-marketing trends. I'm just envisioning this video of Leona in African attire (those big headwraps and patterned dresses), singing with intermittent shots of Lupita and the rest of the cast acting out the theme of the movie one way or another. Simple video that could do wonders for the movie's release. Here's to wanting this to happen.

Does featuring with other artist goes into her total record sales ??..I just discover Little Mix had now overcome Olly murs and sit at 3 with 11M record sold as the biggest x factor selling acts. So I did my research and basically it's since 2011 that when they announce leona they say 20M but I am pretty sure she should be at least at 25M now based on this receipts http://atrl.net/forums/showthread.php?t=959765..so I thought maybe they do not upload until it reaches a round figure like 30M but then I (re)discover a 2015 article by DS where they were quite picky e.g. they put Olly 10.5 M and leona still 20

Spirit + Bleeding Love alone sold close to 20M WW and if we add BIT that sold like 3M~ WW and Run that sold 2M in the UK and Germany alone its really close to 30M even without Echo

I don't know but we didn't get new sales update in a while and we never got SPS update.

Also I rememeber when there was that football event she was preforming on few months ago, The host said she sold 30M albums. Her label needs to release offical numbers

Spirit has sold ~8 million WW and Echo ~2 million. Glassheart/Christmas, With Love/I Am would add another ~250k. So 10.25 million albums.

 

"Bleeding Love" has sold at least 8 million copies WW (Almost 5 million in US and 1.1 million in UK alone)

"Better In Time" has sold ~3 million WW (1.6 million+ US/250k+ UK although US figure is old so more likely around 1.8 million+)

"A Moment Like This" has sold ~1 million in UK + Ireland

"Run" is likely around 1.5 million WW with 850k+ in UK (Did well in Ireland/Germany/Switzerland/Austria and has some decent sales in the US)

"I Got You" has sold ~80k in the US/120k in the UK so ~200k WW

"Happy" has sold 500k+ in the US, 250k+ UK and likely around 1 million+ WW

"I Will Be" has sold 150k+ in the US

"One More Sleep" has sold ~200k WW (~160-180k in the UK in sales - no including stream sales)

"Forgive Me" sold ~150k in the UK

"Collide" sold ~110k+ in the UK

 

So she's sold at least 15 million+ singles WW. She should easily be at or above 25 million records sold now. I guess the reason why she hasn't had it updated when lists and stuff come out is because she's not as relevant/selling as much anymore?

The other question .. are songs having leona featuring on counts in her total sales..and about streams, does the total streams divided per 100 goes into her total sales too ??

I remember on DS a couple years back we had roughly estimated 28 million records sold and actually once Daybreak said she had sold over 28 million.

Ye, once you take into account album track sales and such Leona should be at or near 30 million now.

 

I'm hoping she'll have a string of successful collabs. I don't think collabs count towards an artists' sales total though - Rihanna's single certifications announced at 100 million were all hers as a lead singer and didn't include all her collabs as well. Although I guess you could include the sales especially if the singer has a big part in the song.

Nope, just a quiet period as Leona gears up for the start of the Cats broadway show in a couple weeks time. Not sure when "Only Ones To Know" will drop as well, but should be soon - likely this month.

Yeah its old, I am pretty sure that is the track that was written by one of the Run writers plus a couple others.

It's actually the opposite, previews are for the public and it allows time for the directors and cast to sort out any little issues and really get into the flow of the show before it officially opens at the end of July, that way the critics are hopefully seeing a flaw free show.
