If "Change Your Mind" was a Revival reject... I don't know what the HELL was going on in Selena's mind not putting that in her album.

My review:

There are so many elements to this album that it makes it sound very diverse without it being boring or too samey, which is a SMART move for Britney. The market today is already so diverse that a simple dance pop track might just flounder. So the next step is to pick the next single that could just work.

"Invitation": 8.5

There's something that's very Imogen Heap about this, and that might just be the overloading overlays in the chorus, but for some reason it works here? I don't think it's grabbing me as much as I would like, but I still think it will grow.

"Make Me": 9.5

Okay I think we all know this single is Sexney at her best so moving on. Still mad about the video.

"Private Show": 9.0

This is where the diversity of the sound in the album really works. This has more of a cabaret/burlesque feel that it might work as both an acoustic performance or a full-on performance. Maybe this would be done in Vegas with the full-on feather fans and whatnot? Sure the vocals can be a bit much, but in the end, it's supposed to take you a few decades back in its production and sound.

"Man On The Moon": 7.0

It's good for what it's worth. Is it memorable? ...probably not.

"Just Luv Me": 10.0

A great use of the Purpose type of instrumental to create such a sultry track. Once again, Sexney at her best.

"Clumsy": 9.0

I think I've really come off this song but I wanna say that small "oops!" that she makes before the drop is so cute and it always takes me off guard because it sounds like she's orgasming. The production is ON POINT and she's really bringing it.

"Do You Wanna Come Over?": 11.0

OBVIOUSLY. I mean, this is the fun Britney that I fell in love with and would unashamedly blast in the car. If I get at least one of those on a Britney album, I'm happy. Obviously there's more than just this but HOLY CRAP.

"Slumber Party": 9.0

Incredibly subdued for her. I don't really understand all the hype for this but I think it will grow with time.

"Just Like Me": 10.0

I'm actually surprised at how current this sounds while sounding dated at the same time? This has a bit of an early 2000's vibe - I mean if you've listened to adult alternative (like my dad) - and it doesn't sound boring or tried at all! This was one of the biggest surprises of the album, if not the biggest surprise.

"Love Me Down": 10.0

This I would DEFINITELY blast on the radio. Or anywhere. It's so ratchet it works. GAWD.

"Hard To Forget Ya": 10.0

This goes HARD (though not as hard as "Do You Wanna Come Over?"), so naturally I would like this type of song.

"What You Need": 9.5

A big band instrumental was also something I never thought Britney would try to incorporate - it almost reminds me of the Back 2 Basics singles Xtina had - but it really works with the type of style she's trying to pull off, which is once again more cabaret and organic.

"Better": 10.0

Now THIS is what I'm talking about, Britney! I appreciated Femme Fatale because there was a certain charm in her songs there that mix with the current dance sound, and that's what "Better" does :heart: :heart: And considering the "Lean On"-type of production is my dance fad au choix maintenant, I can't say no.

"Change Your Mind (No Seas Cortes)": 10.0

I'm sorry, but if this was a Selena Gomez reject, why the HELL would she pass up on it? This sounds SO MUCH like a Revival album track. And considering that was a f*cking good album, that's saying much.

"Liar": 10.0

There NEEDED to be a featured rapper with that production and that build-up. Also I love the Western cowboy-like atmosphere that it gave with the background fiddle-sounding synth.

"If I'm Dancing": 9.0

This is such a contradiction because her voice makes this sound like a dream pop song but that production is SCREAMING Missy Elliott. Well okay, g'won Britney!

"Coupure Électrique:

Okay, I LOVE the sound of this. But really? Not even two and a half minutes! This makes it sound more like the opener of the upcoming tour rather than the album closer. Actually this should have opened the album.

Overall, this is a SOLID album. I feel like Britney and her team took some of Bieber's and Selena's producers from their latest efforts and combined their sounds to create this album. And it WORKED. SO MUCH. Probably alongside 7/27 for my favorite album this year. I also see a GIANT improvement between this and Britney Jean.

"Do You Wanna Come Over?" HAS to be the next single, I don't care how campy the chorus sounds, it's just SO PERFECT.

I'm so glad everyone has taken to this.

It's so not straight forward pop, it's more complex and intelligent yet still infectious.

I remember when Britney Jean came out and I tried so hard to love it but it felt so half arsed. And everyone was slating it, even the fans. It was quite a sad time to be a Britney fan. This is a very welcome turn around.

Though I suppose the deluxe tracks are more straightforward pop, and are all jams.
Who are they anyway? They sound like they make country music? :???:
Who are they anyway? They sound like they make country music? :???:
They do. Haha. Think Nickleback, but more country!
Do You Wanna Come Over played when Aubrey got evicted on CBB :cheer:

Here's my rating after a few listens:

Invitation: 10/10 - every time I listen to this song I like it more - her voice is chilling

Make me: 9/10

Private show: 8/10

Man on the moon: 10/10

Jus luv me: 10/10

Clumsy: 9/10

Do you wanna come over?: 10/10

Slumber party: 9/10

Just like me: 9/10

Love me down: 8/10

Hard to forget ya: 7/10

What you need: 7/10 - these two are my least favourite tracks on the album but they are still alright. They just seem quite repetitive.

Better: 9/10

Change your mind: 10/10 - F**k this song is amazing: I think it's my favourite

Liar: 10/10

If I'm dancing: 10/10

Coupure Electrique: 8/10

My album order (I was never a huge blackout fan like most fans - I know it's rare, shoot me) I'm rating them from what I can remember from my enjoyment of them at the time of release:

9th - Britney Jean

8th - Britney

7th - Oops I did again

6th - Baby one more time

5th - Black out

4th - In the zone

3rd - Circus

2nd - Femme Fatale

1st - Glory

Up until this point, Femme Fatale had the least 'album fillers' for me but Glory literally has none and so it's #1 for me! Wow.

Great review Joe - very well written and really encapsulates the album. I do love clumsy though!

Is it too soon to state 'Liar' as one of my top 5 Britney songs, ever??

I'm still slightly overwhelmed by this whole album! I've not felt like this about an album since Kelly's 'Breakaway'! I'm shocked. Stunned. Pleased. Everything.

I have listened to it once in full and I really like it I would give 7/10 with room for growth

My favourites are Do You Wanna Come Over, Slumber Party, Love Me Down, Hard To Forget Ya, What You Need, Liar and If Im Dancing.

I feel like Tracks like Just Luv Me and Man On The Moon could grow tbh

MOTM is the biggest grower! Solid 10/10 moment. I think it would do really well as a single, TBH.
They do. Haha. Think Nickleback, but more country!
More like Nickelback but without that one good song every tragic artist/group has.

After getting over my initial stan freak out;

9.5/10- Invitation

10/10 - Make Me

09/10 - Private Show

10/10 - Man On The Moon (this has gone from being solid to f***ing exceptional)

10/10 - Just Luv Me (Effortlessly stunning)

8.5/10- Clumsy

10/10 - Do You Wanna Come Over? (Single #2 if 'Liar' can't happen)

9.5/10- Slumber Party

09/10 - Just Like Me

10/10 - Love Me Down

07/10 - Hard To Forget Ya (if this were on Britney Jean it would be a solid 8.5/10, weakest song on the album but it's still a solid track. Love the throwback to nineties pop and the Bollywood production really seals it in a great way)

10/10 - What You Need (holy f***, best vocal of her career! It's so good! I thought this would go down after first listen but it's literally Britney Spears' vocals at its very best. Britney meets Tina Turner, SLAY ME.)

8.5/10- Better

09/10 - Change Your Mind

11/10 - Liar (Favorite song since 'Gimme More'. And only BOMT is above that. f***ing I can't even talk about it)

10/10 - If I'm Dancing (crazy infectious, the crazy production paired with her soft vocals really just creates something special)

08/10 - Coupre Electrique - Fantastic closer, even though I feel like it ends right before a climax, but it works being the last track)

Album rank;

01. Glory (never thought she would outdo 'Blackout' or 'In The Zone, but she has. This completes her holy trinity. This wins because there is not a moment of dullness, and that's saying a lot for an album with 17 tracks)

02. Blackout

03. In The Zone

04. Femme Fatale

05. Oops... I Did It Again

06. Circus

07. Britney (this and circus switch places frequently)

08. Baby One More Time

I continue to feel baffled at how Better, Change your mind and Liar ended up on the deluxe. I'm low key mad that Spotify advertises the standard instead of Deluxe.

http://attitude.co.uk/album-review-britney-spears-glory/ - Here's my review that was published this morning btw
