Surely Måns has a semi final record? Or is that still bloody Rybak

love the winner, but also loved Italy - there is now a convincing reason to get rid of the juries. The wrong song won according to voters from all nations, who all had generally (bar a few neighbouring country bias votes) the same faves coming up - looks like running order is more important than staging gimmicks these days, and politics really doesn't influence votes that much, the songs do.

Just noticed: Finland and Czech Republic 10th in the semis on televoting? :( Get rid of the juries THIS INSTANT.

Suppose that says there is some semblance of a rock vote out there at least, if we can get a year where the juries aren't allergic to it maybe one will qualify again.

According to calculations by another forum:

I don't believe the juries were implemented with the philosophy that them reversing a public decision was unacceptable. If they couldn't do that their existence would be pretty meaningless. Obviously the winner being different is a bit controversial but you could just as easily make an argument that they need to do something about the running order here - it's not coincidence that Italy and Russia were top 2 on the televote from the final 3 slots.

Eurovision results have confounds. That's kind of something you have to accept.

Latvia number 2 in juries :cheer: - I think well deserved winner tbh.

Getting rid of juries would be a massive mistake in my opinion, it's no coincidence that since 2009 the quality of entries has increased massively and the number of novelty entries has decreased to barely anything this year. Fair enough it is harsh on Italy and if the UK were in the same position I would be very disappointed but having jury voting has really reversed the negativity that surrounded the contest in the 2000s and it's no coincidence either that since 2009 and the jury re-introduction every song bar 'Running Scared' has been a big success on European charts. This chart success gives the contest credibility and I really think the contest is in the best position it has ever been in on the whole.

anyone have these split scoreboards for the semifinals?

They are all on the Eurovision 2015 Wikipedia page now! :D

Totally agree - 50/50 split is, on balance, the best way to decide the winner. More often than not, jury and televote agree on the winner. This year was indeed interesting, but it's the law that is sod that Italy didn't win (I'm secretly VERY glad, I hate opera!).

I also agree jury vote is there to put a lid on the novelty acts and IMO they voted a sublime top two this year!

I don't really understand why people say 'oh the juries didn't vote for the same winner as the televoters' is a justification in itself for getting rid of the juries. Of course you're going to run the risk of that happening if it's a dual system - it's built right into it and to be expected to happen sometimes.

I'm REALLY pleased they stopped Italy from winning, but I would prefer the jury influence to be tamped down a little - I hold it almost wholly responsible for the rise of Boreovision.

I suppose this year also disproved the belief that juries don't vote for party songs with Israel finishing top 10 in both the televote and with the jury in the final. Hopefully that encourages more party tracks to be entered in future!

The semi finalists saving us from nul points!

According to my calculations [/dexterslab], if you'd have done the semis under the 2010-2012 voting system, the Semi One qualifiers would have remained unchanged but in Semi 2 Malta would have made it over Azerbaijan.

That's two years now that Azerbaijan have been on the verge of not qualifying iirc.

If only the finalists had voted.

1. Sweden 239

2. Russia 208

3. Italy 204

Thank god for our friends in Ireland, Portugal and San Marino :drama:

Also, according to my calculations, this is what the final results would have been under the old jury/televote system of 2009-2012

01 SWEDEN 364

02 ITALY 310

03 RUSSIA 290

04 BELGIUM 218

05 LATVIA 174

06 AUSTRALIA 167

07 ESTONIA 96

08 NORWAY 90

09 ISRAEL 73

10 ALBANIA 64

11 ARMENIA 54

12 GEORGIA 51

13 SERBIA 49

14 ROMANIA 43 (more votes)

15 AZERBAIJAN 43

16 MONTENEGRO 42

17 SLOVENIA 41

18 LITHUANIA 33

19 GREECE 23

20 CYPRUS 22

21 POLAND 18

22 HUNGARY 15

23 GERMANY 8

24 FRANCE 7 (more votes)

25 SPAIN 7

26 AUSTRIA 6

27 UNITED KINGDOM 4

Those 4 points for the UK were the 3 from the San Marino jury and (strangely) a single point from Switzerland.

Only ranking Top 10 songs and then combining jury and televote. Now they rank them all.
