Posted June 8, 201510 yr How I compile my charts: With a few exceptions, I don't go out of my way to seek out new songs - I usually wait until I hear them on the radio. I mainly listen to Radio 1 and for this reason, most (though not all) songs in my chart are those which are played on Radio 1. I don't usually add a song to my chart until it's started gaining some airplay. Songs generally tend to climb gradually as they grow on me, peak and then fall fast, so the chart looks similar to an 80s/90s singles chart. I also usually get bored of a song within a few weeks, so songs don't generally tend to hang around the chart for more than a few weeks - typically around 9 or 10 weeks for a Number 1. This week's chart commentary: * Last week 'Uma Thurman' gave Fall Out Boy their first ever Top 3 hit on this chart, and now they better that by climbing all the way to #1, dethroning Sia's 6-week chart topper. Nice to see Ella rising again. It is her weakest so I didn't care about the song going top 10 but she as an artist on her own definitely deserves to go top 10. What a insane talent she is. Let it Go is really chilled out and nice so I hope it can become some form of hit for James. I've had enough of HBTR. Radio likes to rape it constantly :lol: Good chart overall this week. And the album is fantastic, so many good songs on it! 5 - I prefer Taylor's solo version too, especially as Kendrick's verses have been added at the expense of her verses, but yeah I get your point about Kendrick's version having brought it more attention, so fair enough I suppose. 7 - Oh really? I think it's actually my favourite Florence single to date, so if there's even better on the album then I'd really better check it out!! 12 - I really like 'Warriors' as a single choice but I think you're right they will probably go with 'Shots' next, given that it was a US single. 15 - Yeah both 'Dead Inside' and this are brilliant, 'Mercy' especially actually, and I listened to the album yesterday, it's definitely theirs best for a while :D 21 - This is OK but I think it sounds too much like Maroon 5, it is a shame they're going to fade away now though cos they definitely had potential. 26 - Yes I tired of HBTR a while ago and this is quite a nice song so it's very welcome as a single choice. I've heard the album but I'm not overly familiar with 'If You Ever Want To Be In Love' yet. 27 - Completely agree, I love the repeated 'Regret, regret' chants! Such a brilliant song. 31 - I'm actually not that big on 'Photograph' as a lot of people seem to be. I really liked 'Thinking Out Loud', this just sounds like a slightly inferior version to me, obvs won't do anywhere near as well either. It's not a bad song though.
