Born in McComb, Mississippi, and raised in Kentwood, Louisiana, she performed acting roles in stage productions and television shows as a child before signing with Jive Records in 1997. Spears's first and second studio albums ...Baby One More Time (1999) and Oops!... I Did It Again (2000) became international successes, with the former becoming the best-selling album by a teenage solo artist. Title tracks "...Baby One More Time" and "Oops!... I Did It Again" broke international sales records. In 2001, Spears released her third album Britney and played the starring role in the film Crossroads. She assumed creative control of her fourth album In the Zone (2003), which yielded the worldwide success "Toxic". In 2007, Spears's much-publicized personal struggles sent her career into hiatus. Her fifth record Blackout was released later that year, and spawned hits "Gimme More" and "Piece of Me". Her erratic behavior and hospitalizations continued through the following year, at which point she was placed under a still on-going conservatorship. Spears's sixth album Circus (2008) included global chart-topping lead single "Womanizer". Its supporting tour The Circus Starring Britney Spears was the highest-grossing global concert tour in 2009. Later that October, "3" became Spears's third single to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Her seventh album Femme Fatale (2011) became her first to yield three top-ten singles in the United States: "Hold It Against Me", "Till the World Ends" and "I Wanna Go". In 2012, Spears was featured on will.i.am's single "Scream & Shout", which topped charts in over 24 countries. She also served as a judge during the second season of the American version of The X Factor. Spears's eighth studio album Britney Jean is scheduled to be released in December 2013, at which time she will also begin the two-year residency show Britney: Piece of Me at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. Spears was established as a pop icon and credited with influencing the revival of teen pop during the late 1990s. She became the 'best-selling teenaged artist of all time' before she turned 20, and garnered honorific titles including the "Princess of Pop". Her work has earned her numerous awards and accolades, including a Grammy Award, six MTV Video Music Awards including the Lifetime Achievement Award, nine Billboard Music Awards, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In 2009, Billboard ranked her as the 8th overall Artist of the Decade, and also recognized her as the best-selling female artist of the first decade of the 21st century, as well as the fifth overall. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) named Spears as the eighth top-selling female artist in the United States, with 34 million certified albums. Nielsen SoundScan ranked her the tenth best-selling digital artist of the country, with more than 28.6 million digital singles as of January 2012. She has sold over 100 million albums worldwide, making her one of the best-selling music artists of all time. Rolling Stone recognized her instant success as one of the Top 25 Teen Idol Breakout Moments of all time, while VH1 ranked her eleventh on their "100 Greatest Women in Music" list in 2012, and Billboard named her the sexiest woman in music.Forbes reported that Spears was the highest paid female musician of 2012, with earnings of $58 million, having last topped the list in 2002. - Wikipedia Chart history - Top 100 (Year peak title): Britney Spears 1999 01 ...Baby One More Time -1- MILLION SELLER 1999 03 Sometimes -2- 1999 05 (You Drive Me) Crazy -3- 2000 01 Born To Make You Happy -4- 2000 01 Oops!... June 14, 201510 yr Uma Thurman as the chartbreaker  because that'll be HUGE in the chart next week...
June 14, 201510 yr Have the R1 chart show ever considered getting their tongue out of Fall Out Boy's backside?
June 14, 201510 yr What an odd Chartbreaker! Is this really set to chart any time soon? Absolutely love love this song though so not complaining :D
June 14, 201510 yr Double post sorry. I don't even mind the song that much, it's just blatantly not going to be high in the chart. And that time when their album went in at 2 was just ridiculous. Edited June 14, 201510 yr by The Hit Parade
June 14, 201510 yr Fall Out Boy as the chart breaker? Expected to be 'riding high' in the charts next week? lol good humour (good song though, always great to hear them randomly on the chart show!) Edited June 14, 201510 yr by Chez Wombat
June 14, 201510 yr I'm dying at them playing Fall Out Boy, just so they don't have to give Britney or Chris Brown a spin. That being said, I do love 'Uma Thurman' and it'd be great to see it go top 40. It reminds me of the time they played 'Superlove' as the chart breaker and it didn't even go top 40, but to be fair there was no other significant new releases that week. June 14, 201510 yr Oh, I'd switched off but what a wonderful chart-breaker. It SHOULD be riding high in the charts but eh, at least it has this.
June 14, 201510 yr Uma Thurman is currently #66 on iTunes so maybe Radio 1 expect it to increase massively over the next few days
June 14, 201510 yr I'm dying at them playing Fall Out Boy, just so they don't have to give Britney or Chris Brown a spin. That's what I was thinking!!!!! It would be good if they make Top 40 but realistically, they might end somewhere at 51-60. It reminds me of the time they played 'Superlove' as the chart breaker and it didn't even go top 40, Superlove not making Top 40 was really gutting.  Edited June 14, 201510 yr by buzz_person
June 14, 201510 yr On the topic of strange Chartbreakers I remember when they played Feelin' Myself a week too early as it had been pushed back & R1 had obviously not realised  Edited June 14, 201510 yr by Dobbo
June 14, 201510 yr Sorry for my abrupt disappearance halfway through the thread this week, some family issues (things have calmed down now). Will sort out the final recap / album chart stuff in the near future.
June 16, 201510 yr 4 weeks at #10 for 'Hey Mama' is David Guetta's longest run in the Top 10 from his 'Listen' album era! :o The #1 'Lovers on the Sun' only managed 3 weeks. Wonder if you could argue its a bigger hit? :P
