Johnson is just trying to deflect with the Saville thing. He has no credible response to all the partygate allegations but any decent human being would have resigned by now. The only thing he is sorry about is being caught out. There are also quite a few parallels between him and Trump. On a slightly different subject, I wonder how all the partygate stuff is being viewed internationally by other countries.

The thing about the Saville smear is it became normalised because no one challenged things like it earlier such as Jeremy Corbyn being portrayed as a Czech Spy or Antisemetic but they didn’t because they didn’t like him and disagree with his ideology, so we are were we are I guess!

100% - the framing of Jeremy Corbyn as an anti semite was one of the low points of the last election especially compared with Johnson's homophobic and racist comments which went unchallenged. It was very effective though. And we are left with a horrific political culture.
I think that it went on for too long to such an extent that it cannot possible that people didn’t know at least rumours about hi

Same now with all these downing st parties (I’m betting there’s more than the ones in the report) - there’s no way hoards of folks don’t know about this. There will be a long list of folks with knowledge about what happened and have been involved in either passively or actively covering it up

THIS. This actually angers me the most tbh, SO many people knew about it. Everyone who attended the parties, all their families/friends/fellow colleagues and yet somehow not one leak at the time (or at least in the few weeks afterwards)? Very suspicious indeed. And also very very convenient this has all come out after all the restrictions' have ended. Imagine if this came out this time last year, we wouldn't have had that long 3rd lockdown that's for sure!

Has anyone noticed, all the Eton Mess ever does during PMQs is reel off long lists of dubious "achievements" and never actually answers a question. It's so infuriating.
I can't even watch it (although I read about it) - it's absolutely vile. And anyone who can defend that behaviour (even if they belive his policies are correct and working - which I would strongly disagree with) from our Prime Minister obviously has a skewed and twisted set of values that are very damaging going forwards.

This has happened at every PMQs in history tbf.

He’s asked him a question about tax rises for working people and he answers with unemployment has decreased. Great reply by Starmer though that that bluster and words with no answer won’t work with the police 😂.

I notice he didn’t apologise for the Saville slur either. But sure Hoyle the speaker is meant to intervene but is useless.

Hmmm, if we are talking about the Met Police, I'm sure that Johnson will get the outcome he wants. Wouldn't trust them as far as I can throw them.

Well this is it I agree especially with Savid Javids brother speaking on Ch4 news lastnyt. But wouldn’t be a good look for Starmer to go with that tone 😂, Jezza would have done it though!
Is that 12 public letters then? Assuming the same again have gone private were still nowhere near the 54 threshold
Now up to 13 public - unlucky for some. I always wonder with the letters being in a locked draw of one individual, if he was bribed enough then he could have a pile of 80 letters say but pretend to colleagues it's only 40 (it is a Tory we are talking about)! It is such a pathetic and antiquated system for people who don't live in the real world (like a lot of what goes on at Westminster)

Aye it's a bit weird isn't it.

I think people would soon work out if the count was drastically under.

I'm pretty sure they don't have to send actual letters in these days? Think it's all emails as well. Like most things (and from what I have read too) most of the MPs at the moment who have come out in public are playing to a very specific audience or loyal to someone else in the Party whose not currently in the Cabinet. For a lot of MPs who privately want Johnson gone, they won't send a letter until they know it's a sure thing he would go in a Leadership contest.

good to see an actual previously serving member of the forces, the MP who helped the dying policeman in front of Parliament, Tobias Elwood, call out the lying useless blonde-bimbo git and send in his letter after his slander about Keir Starmer. Johnson of course has never served his country in any form, nor has a low he won't sink to and try to shrug off as a laugh.

Re the Abba party, I presume they started with Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!, Money, Money, Money, and You Owe Me One, upped the mood with Two For The Price Of One, and then the rest of the Tory Party joined in with rousing versions of Don't Shut Me Down, Disillusion, Hole In Your Soul, and Under Attack, and more recently some will have been singing Move On, S.O.S., and Slipping Through My Fingers before the finale Hasta Manana is the future anthem about a year before the next general election.

Aye wouldn’t surprise me like it’s like waiting on a new pope being announced and waiting on the white smoke!

Haha yeh it was strange as Tobias was defending him on Ch4 news lastnyt still but it must have been Matt Frei which turned him 😂

Boris must have some serious f***ing fort on Nadine Dorries.

Accusing the MPs submitting letters as being 'a handful of egos' what unlike the basket full of egos' in cabinet

Nadine Dorries is simply saving her own skin. No one other than Johnson would let her anywhere near government.

It’s the same for most of his primary cheerleaders. They’re so strident in their support because he is their only real shot at power and that matters above all else to these people.

Im starting to think that once Scotland has gone Indy, Starmer is exactly what rUK needs. Basically a boring technocrat to right the ship, try and make some reforms to how the UK is governed and the obscure and ridiculous rules of Westminster before an actual progressive gov can take over. The uk is so badly damaged at this point it kinda needs treated like a banana republic with a regime change and then a transitional government

Remember Atlee was looked at in the same way as you describe Starmer. I still have ‘some’ faith!
