Omi finally dethroned! I love the Weeknd his song so happy to see it doing so well.

Selenur needs to get a move om tho

Omi finally dethroned!

He was only there for 4 weeks, that's like nothing for a US #1 of late (minus Bad Blood) :')

Would have prefrred him to stay there than The Weeknd getting there tbh. Lol at 1D still not getting that #1 tho.

Did not realise 'Photograph' had got that high! Slay em Ed.

Damn, The Hills is still at #11!!!! Happy that CFMF is finally #1 though!!!! Also excited to see Lean On entering Top 5 in the US!!

Chart Highlights

  • The Weeknd earns his first chart-topper as "Can't Feel My Face" takes over at #1. It does so thanks to a streaming boost: the song takes the this week's Streaming Gainer honor as it rises 5-4 on Streaming Songs, tallying 15.4 million streams after its video's July 29 premiere. On Digital Songs, the song drops 1-2 after selling 134,000 downloads, but it dominates airplay: it climbs 2-1 on Radio Songs and Pop Songs, logging 152 million in audience impressions. On Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, "CFMF" spends a fourth week on top. Meanwhile, last week's Hot 100 #1, OMI's "Cheerleader", drops 1-2.
  • One Direction earn the highest debut of the year so far as "Drag Me Down" enters at #3. The song becomes their fifth top-10 hit and their fourth to debut within the region. It blasts to #1 on Digital Songs with 350,000 downloads sold, their best-ever weekly total. On Streaming Songs, it debuts at #12 with 8.5 million streams; 7 million of those streams came from on-demand services, giving the track a #1 debut on On-Demand Songs. "DMD" isn't listed on Radio Songs, but it logged 17 million in audience impressions over the past week. Below "DMD", Major Lazer's "Lean On" rises 6-5, keeping the Airplay Gainer honor. The song climbs 7-5 on Radio Songs with 99 million in audience impressions, and 10-9 on Digital Songs with 71,000 downloads sold. It's #1 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs for a fourth week.
  • Further Down: Aside from "DMD", three other songs enter the top 40 this week. The first is Drake's "Back to Back", which debuts at #21. The Meek-Mill-aimed diss track gives Drake his 40th top-40 hit (and, as fate would have it, pushes Meek's "All Eyes on You" down 21-43). The track debuts at #4 on Digital Songs and at #8 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. Another Drake diss track aimed at Meek, "Charged Up", debuts at #78. Below Drake, R. City's "Locked Away" climbs 60-35, rising 25 spots for a second week in a row. The song is the duo's first top-40 (though they've written and produced hits for artists like Miley Cyrus and Usher), as well as featured singer Adam Levine's fourth as a solo artist. The song earns the Digital Gainer honor as it lifts 39-18 on Digital Songs. It's gaining traction on Pop Songs, where it climbs 23-16. The third song to enter the top 40 this week is "Rotten to the Core" from the soundtrack to the Disney Channel film Descendants. It's sung by actors Dove Cameron, Cameron Boyce, Booboo Stewart, and Sofia Carson, who all make their first chart appearances. The song opens at #38 on the Hot 100, at #20 on Streaming Songs, and at #33 on Digital Songs. Another song from the soundtrack, Dove Cameron's "If Only", debuts at #99.

Below the top 40,
Disclosure
's
"Omen"
debuts at #64 a full tracking week after its release. It debuts at #47 on Digital Songs and jumps 7-5 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs. Beneath "Omen", Drake's
"Hotline Bling"
debuts at #66. The song, which is unrelated to the Meek-Drake beef, debuts at #30 on Digital Songs and at #20 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. Drake appears on another debuting song this week,
The Game
's
"100"
, which starts at #90.

Honestly DYING at Rotten To The Core ha relevance

That song is so trashy, so fabulously bad it's hilarious and enjoyable

I am quite shocked that 1D got their highest ever one week sales with 'Drag Me Down'. Like, I guess someone leaving a band like that is a good thing commercially more than anything but still. Highest ever sales total and an amazing streaming start giving them a #3 début feels downright cruel - they're never going to get a #1.
I honestly don't think Zayn leaving was the main factor in why this did so well. I mean, yeah, we wanted to hear how they sounded now that they're just "Four White Guys" rather than 1D but it's more attributed to the changing sound and their ravenous fanbase.

I think the changing sound and Zayn leaving came together to make it such a big deal! I don't think 1D changing sound in such a way would have been a huge deal if Zayn was there, nor do I think Zayn leaving would have been a big deal if they continued with their standard sound, but I think the big changes all over has given them a second wind of sorts.

Honestly they were fading with Four, I think Zayn leaving might have given them the boost they need to last a while longer than they otherwise would have.

Oh and don't forget the drama surrounding it all. I'm sure a lot of 1D fans have a renewed determination to see them succeed now that they've had 'beef' with Zayn, so they're more frantic when a new release comes than ever.

The only reason it's done well is the sudden release... they released it the day after Zayn got signed by RCA. If that wasn't enough drama, suddenly new 1D... hence why it's slowly dropped down the iTunes charts.
The sudden release is another factor but the sudden release the day after Zayn announces solo plans is... basically down to Zayn drama all the same.
