I am glad Cheryl is that low, I was dreading the GA forum coming out in force!

What kind of judging is that? Ugh.

I'm glad Jessie is not as high as I thought she might have been. I need to check out what she's like on The Voice Australia. I was one of the few who enjoyed watching her on the UK version - probably for the wrong reasons.

Fergie kicks off the top 40, having released her first proper solo single in years (aside from the soundtrack single A Little Party Never Killed Nobody) L.A. Love in 2014. Hopefully that leads to an album this year.... We've waited far too long, 9 years since The Dutchess!!!

Selegend Gomez *.* Finishing higher than her bestie Demi, but lower than Miley Cyrus, she's in a good position here Disney wise. She's been solo for the past couple of years after being behind "The Scene" since 2009, and recently had a smash WW with Good For You - this could be a massive era for her.

Ariana Grande found fame on Nickelodeon but she seems to really have shaken that tag and become one of the big pop girls rather than an ex kids' star. One Last Time is one of the absolute best pop songs of the year and she had a huge hit with Problem worldwide, as well as finding time to lick doughnuts and wish her fans would "f***ing die" in between all that.

Alicia Keys has had fairly consistent success over the past 15 years or so, especially with 2009's The Element Of Freedom in the UK. Due to her starting a family, it's been 3 years since her last album but she's still doing well here.

Even though her career is "on hold" (:basil:), Alexandra Burke manages to finish as high as #36! Her 2012 album Heartbreak On Hold was terminal to my ears, with about 3 decent tracks on it and the rest being awful... But her 2009 slayage is still residual clearly, Overcome *.*

She's worse on there  She seems even more up herself and she's very rude to Delta. She said to one contestant "choose Ricky if you want a career in Australia" (when him and Delta turned) - as if nine #1s in 12 years and having one of the top 5 biggest albums in Australian history isn't a career!!

Surprised Fergie managed top 40, tbh.

Oh really? God knows how Jessie, Ariana and Nicki managed to record 'Bang Bang' with all of their egos involved.

I was just expressing my opinion, it's hardly as if I'm hating on her? I prefer other people in the list...

I misinterpreted what you said as being offensive to the people in the GA forum, not offensive to Cheryl herself. Sorry for that.

Oh no not at all, having started posting a bit more in there myself I know there a lot of Cheryl fans on here, ma' bad  :P

Carly Rae Jepsen has actually been in music for 7 years, although 2012's Call Me Maybe catapaulted her to international fame. Since then she's released two albums, including the recently released E-MO-TION, which features the universally praised soon-to-be (hopefully!!) smash Run Away With Me <3 Her pure pop music harks back to the 80s so it's easy to see why she has a lot of fans on here.

Lily Allen might have disappointed some fans with her 2013 album Sheezus, but they're still loyal enough to see her though to finish this high! My own interest in her has waned in recent years, but I always treasure her first two albums *.*

Ke$ha is misconceived by far too many people as some talentless party whore, but if they bothered to listen to her more they'd know she has countless ballads <3 Being much more versatile than her singles might show, Ke$ha's one of the more underrated pop girls recently - especially as Warrior flopped horrifically :(

Miley Cyrus is the highest of all the Disney girls - sorry Raven Symone fans she isn't still to come x She's always had success in the UK, but became the first (and so far onyl) Disney girl to have a #1 in 2013, with the massive Bangerz era bringing her great success. She's looking at releasing her next album for free ::o

Finishing this section is indie darling Florence Welch, who recently released her third album which went straight to #1. Her powerful voice elevates her songs to another level, and she's even had a pumping dance #1 in 2012 with Spectrum - assisted by Calvin Harris.

I agree on Ke$ha she is very underrated. Although the whole rape thing is pretty weird.

Nelly Furtado has been long lost to irrelevancy, but even just 9 years ago she was one of the big pop girls. Loose sold 12 million copies worldwide; 1.1 million in the UK alone! Fast forward 6 years and the follow up Spirit Indestructible probaby barely sold 20k worldwide... It's easy to think of what could have been but if she hadn't left it so long she could have carried on being huge :(

Mariah Carey's star has also been much brighter in the past, although she had a sizeable hit as recently as 2013 with Beautiful! Nonetheless, she's one of the biggest female artists of all time and has a huge legacy.

Sia was always underrated pre-2011, and I spent a lot of time wishing she'd break out internationally. So it's quite ironic I kind of want to just go away now  Her music just doesn't have the same magic and spark anymore, it's all more generic and a bit dull. Chandelier is a monster though.

Tinashe is the newest artist in the top 40, having made such an impact with one album :o She's one of the most horrifically underrated artists in this whole countdown commerically - Aquarius only peaked at #78 in the UK :/ Not since Aaliyah has an R&B female had such potential, I just pray her second album gets more attention!

Marina & The Diamonds flitted between styles from the quirky Family Jewels to the poptastic Electra Heart, but 2015's Froot has been a decent mix of the two (if not as strong as either, at all). Really, her discography has something to please everybody and everybody should love her tbh.

'Froot' completely killed any kind of hype I had for Marina. The first two albums were so perfect and perfectly to my tastes and barring one or two songs, 'Froot' was just really underwhelming and overrated on here. :( The structure of most of the songs was pretty much "wash, rinse, repeat" and I just couldn't get on board fully! 'I'm A Ruin' is probably my favourite song of hers to date though. SO beautifully haunting. <3

Tinashe is about where I had hoped she'd be at the very least so I'm very happy with her placing. Hopefully she will smash with her 2nd album (I really believe she will!) Her first proper era was about creating that solid fanbase, and she did it PERFECTLY. I'm not anything near as strong as 'Aquarius', but I am SO ready to be slain in whatever way possible!

Janet Jackson is one of the most iconic females in music history - she rivalled Madonna at the height of her fame in the US. Without her, there wouldn't be so many of our favourite artists tbh. She pushed so many boundaries at the time, broke records... She might not be such a force anymore but her next album is due very soon to add to her legacy *.*

Gwen Stefani hasn't released a solo album for 9 years, but in the interim her band No Doubt have released an album. Nonetheless, even today What You Waiting For is a song that remains untouched - it pushed boundaries and there still hasn't been anything like it since. She racked up countless hits, I just hope she can return to that. I refuse to acknowledge Spark The Fire being a single tbh....

Robyn is seen as overrated by some, but it's a testament to her perfect pop that she's top 30 here! 8 years later and I think With Every Heartbeat is still one of the most surprising #1s I can rememebr, but fully deserved <3 She's quite slow to release albums, but what we do have is pretty great, so many pop classics.

Shakira has also declined in success, with her 2014 album not attracting much attention at all. However, Hips Don't Lie and Whenever Wherever are both two of the biggest selling songs of the 21st century worldwide, and she's a huge name in both English and Spanish speaking territories. Up the goats tbh.

Just missing out on the top 20 is depression queen Lana Del Rey. Born To Die supplies all the tunes for anyone's down days, it's the perfect album of that type. Ultraviolence.... yeah we'll not go there. The musical equvalent of girls at Coachella wearing flower crowns pretending to be high after one pill. Here's hoping Honeymoon is better

Top 20 will come tomorrow!

Apparently Janet's career "died" right after the Super Bowl controversy. That's what I've read anyway - it caused so much outrage across conservative America that she never managed to recover since. It's weird if that was the case since JT was actually the one at fault (if one of them was).
