February 26, 20169 yr Yasssss! A fantastic UK entry to be proud of! Should surely get us midtable at least?
February 26, 20169 yr WD the public on getting something right! I mean it's not an amazing song but it was the best out of a mediocre lot.
February 26, 20169 yr What were you watching (if anything) while we got a film of past winners then? We got the same thing here babes!
February 26, 20169 yr This song does sound very British, which is great, it's very Coldplay meets One Direction. The bridge melody reminds me of something that I can't put my finger on. Hope this can chart in the UK, but I doubt it will get streamed much.
February 26, 20169 yr Haven't been watching tonight's show but Joe & Jake were my favourites before this so I'm glad they've done it! Hoping for some mid-table glory!!!
February 26, 20169 yr After E****** V***** it's great to have something representing us that isn't a complete embarrassment. I mean it acutally has a STRUCTURE and a HOOK for heaven's sake! Edited February 26, 20169 yr by LexDANCE
February 26, 20169 yr Plus Joe & Jake make a nice addition to Jade, Javine, Jemini, Josh, James and Jessica in the UK Eurovision entrants list.
February 26, 20169 yr Author So when the acts were introduced at the beginning I was very pleased my running order theory was correct from earlier, knowing that Joe and Jake were closing the show. I think Dulcima really benefited from the live performance, the middle 8 sounded more in place in a live setting! Matthew was very outdated even if sung decently, but in disagreement with you guys I think Darline put in the best performance of the night although I know they had no chance from the third slot. Karl was underwhelming, the verses just lead to such a weak chorus. Bianca did sound like a bit of a Leona impersonator, obviously trying to imitate Leona's demo which is fair enough - she sung it excellently though! Joe and Jake weren't perfect live, I thought Joe struggled with his verses but it was still my favourite song! Overall I thought it'd be between the last two, with Bianca winning it - and I looked at the odds who matched my opinion exactly with Bianca just ahead of Joe & Jake, Darline were way out at 9/1 by that point. So I voted tactically as while Bianca probably gave the best live vocals, I wanted Joe and Jake to win so gave a couple of votes to them. So was very pleased when they won! :D I think the sound levels throughout the show was pretty awful, probably even worse than Spain's national final, and that was symbolised perfectly by Katrina's mic fail! I think Joe and Jake will benefit massively from the Stockholm stage with the perfect sound and the chance to make a massive stadium performance and I could see them coming around 15th which while not groundbreaking would be a massive step forward. Good work UK! And the national final was very enjoyable, even if the sound wasn't great.
February 26, 20169 yr I've worked out that Joe and Jake's song reminds me of a mix of a couple of Foo Fighters songs melodically - Times Like These and Learn To Fly.
February 26, 20169 yr Author Lots of people following its premiere said it reminded them of The Script's No Good In Goodbye in the choruses, I can see where they are coming from and I love the euphoric sound they both have!
February 26, 20169 yr Just back from the show and ecstatic that Joe & Jake won!!!!! I think I voted for them three times, but I couldn't tell if the calls went through as I couldn't hear  Wasn't really expecting it, thought Bianca got a really good reaction from the audience and was just rooting for it not to be Karl in the end but so happy with how it turned out and how the UK haven't screwed it up. The most instant, catchy, commercial / radio friendly / hit-sounding song of the lot, won't get my hopes up too high for May but left side of the scoreboard I'd like to think.
February 26, 20169 yr Well, okay then. Guess that's about as good as we could do. I missed the show but I wouldn't have been able to bring myself to vote in it anyway. I guess I'll let it grow on me, it's still not sounding amazing but I'm hearing hints of Owl City's Metropolis in it now which is a very good thing (and anything away from One Direction album track/sub-Coldplay fare in terms of comparisons is). Could do not terribly.
February 26, 20169 yr Definitely the best choice there in terms of the best live performance and catchy song. Hopefully should be a mid-table result after last year's embarrassment. I thought it was a two-horse race between them and Bianca - the other live performances were really mediocre or just plain bad.
