I can't see a song like that getting success at the contest, it's so monotonous.

Yeah there's never been a song like it so it's hard to imagine it being effectively staged, but I'd just be happy that we've sent a song that is actually representative of the music in the UK charts!

From the Metro:

On New Year’s Day Jedward will find out if they’ve been short-listed to represent the UK at Eurovision in 2016, after failing to win for Ireland in 2011 and 2012.

No doubt this strange tour around Europe will help promote their cause if they do get through.

When asked why they were applying for the contest again, John explained: ‘We’re interested as we know we’re already popular in Eurovision and will have support across Britain to represent the UK because of the fan base we got in X Factor.’

Let’s just hope their airport tour doesn’t inspire them to perform a song like this one from Scooch, which was the UK entry in 2007.

Well Jedward would still be better than Josh, Engelbert, Bonnie and Electro Velvet...

Indeed, I hope the BBC realise that putting these two in a national final (if it does end up happening) would result in them winning more than likely.

I did like 'Luminous' that they released a couple of years ago, if they have something like this I wouldn't be upset with them being our entry as it is a very well produced pop song and actually not too dissimilar to the Swedish produced entry Donny Montell has in this year's Lithuanian selection - but I don't want another 'Lipstick' or 'Waterline' despite me liking them to an extent at the time.

I don't give a shit what they enter, it could be a bjørk featuring timberland (missy elliot era) produced, dr luke written epic but it'd still be presented by two talentless twats who shouldn't be anywhere near our national final. They are irelands problem, not ours.

Wiwibloggs have compiled a list of some of the entries the BBC have already sent rejection letters to over the past couple of weeks which includes the completely politics-free 'World Support Ukraine (Russia Go Home)' by Ukrainian singer Diana Mess.

OMG at all of this !

I love Jedward but it wouldn't be good for the 'taking it seriously' direction we want to go in. Idk, maybe Europe would welcome them back into their hearts after a few years break but it also doesn't fill me with hope that they did worse the 2nd time round for Ireland.

diana mess. completely living up to the name

liza starlight is everything i aspire to be in life when i'm 114. seriously though, it's so josh dubovie, i'm SHOCKED it got rejected

shocked they rejected some of these. they are all pretty UK ESC. clueless, old, cheesy, distasteful garbage. oops

Scott Mills is part of the problem, because he represents a station which sneers at the contest unconditionally. As does he during his own presentation of the semi-finals. So even if we could find a 'killer' song, it would never get playlisted on Radio 1, and it would similarly be ignored by 6Music and possibly even Radio 2 (as was the case initially with Blue 2011). If the BBC could provide more joined-up support for the contest, it would find it a bit easier to attract the substantial, experienced act which successful Eurovision nations enter year after year.
The thing is Jedward would genuinely have a real shot in a UK voted national final :/ I'm not sure I trust the public to make a decision that's that much better than the awful ones the panel have made since 2012

With the exception of Molly

yep, many people will vote for Jedward for the lolz if they are in the national final. Hopefully there's some sort of jury that get a percentage of the vote too so that we don't get another joke act like Electro Velvet or Scooch
Captain Russ from Scooch followed me on Twitter the other day though (without me following him first). *.*
Ha! For better or worse, if 100 people (on the street, not Buzzjack) were asked to name a UK Eurovision entry from the past decade, I still think Flying The Flag would come top *.* Well actually 90-odd of those probably wouldn't be able to name any.

The BBC Entertainment PR guy has been replying to Eurovision questions via his account on Twitter saying news is coming "incredibly soon" and very recently posted the UK Eurovision flag. I'd like to hope info was coming as soon as Monday, but I think press releases are usually Fridays aren't they? So perhaps on Friday we'll get some news! Or he may just be trying to shut all the Eurovision fans up :heehee:

He's answering loads of questions from angry UK fans now! :heehee: He's confirmed the UK public will decide who goes to Stockholm and he says that everything is in "safe hands" and that the BBC "love the Eurovision". He seems optimistic but it's probably just because he knows that if it all goes wrong the public can be blamed this time!

The UK public getting to decide and everything being in safe hands sounds like a bit of a contradiction :kink:

(Not that the BBC doing it all internally is any better)

As optimistic as we can be, we'll still more than likely be let down with some horrible act representing us.

Minipop Icons on Facebook have posted that "although they've now taken down the link, the Belfast Telegraph reported today that Mel Giedroyc will host a UK national final, 'Eurovision: You Decide', with six acts performing."

I hope the BBC really put a lot of effort into this as if it goes well and they get a good result in Stockholm, they could have their own Melodifestivalen type show to replace The Voice once that has gone to ITV after this year. Be clever BBC! :magic:
