August 26, 20159 yr Is this really the first time 'Straight Outta Compton' has ever charted? :o Also what exactly is going on with Fetty Wap? Are '679' and 'My Way' both current singles or is one of them just doing well anyway despite not currently being a single?
August 26, 20159 yr Author If the Billboard chart archives and Wikipedia are to be believed, it's the first time N.W.A. have ever charted on the Hot 100 at all, which is pretty incredible. And I think "My Way" and "679" are both singles? They're both on urban radio right now anyway. Fetty's definitely the biggest urban breakout in a while.
August 27, 20159 yr Author Chart Highlights OMI's "Cheerleader" stays at #1 for a sixth week. The song remains at #2 on Digital Songs with 105,000 downloads sold; it passes the 2,000,000 sales mark this week. Meanwhile, The Weeknd's "Can't Feel My Face" holds at #2. The track tops both Digital Songs and Radio Songs for a third week each. It sold 109,000 downloads and logged 157 million in audience impressions last week. "CFMF" also tops On-Demand Songs for a sixth week, while on the genre charts, it leads Pop Songs for a third week and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs for a sixth.Fetty Wap's "679" flies 13-8, granting Fetty his third top 10, all three of which he's earned in the past six months. The track features Remy Boyz, who earn their first hit in the region. (Monty, a member of the group, earns his second overall after featuring on Fetty's #7-peaking "My Way", which falls 8-11 this week.) Fetty is the first rapper since 2004 to peak in the top 10 with his first three charting hits. 11 years ago, Chingy had sent his first three hits—"Right Thurr", "Holidae In", and "One Call Away"—to the region. "679" jumps 12-8 on Digital Songs and 7-4 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.Top 20/40: R. City jump 25-16 with "Locked Away", giving the duo their first top-20 hit and Adam Levine his second as a solo artist. The song earns the Digital Gainer honor as it ascends 10-3 on Digital Songs. It also earns the Airplay Gainer honor, rising 23-14 on Radio Songs and 14-12 on Pop Songs. Meanwhile, this week's Streaming Gainer is Fetty Wap's "Again", though it descends 33-40 on the Hot 100. The track debuts at #27 on Streaming Songs and tumbles 4-27 on Digital Songs. On Hot Rap Songs, it drops 8-10.Three songs enter the top 40 this week. Drake earns his 41st hit in the region as "Hotline Bling" blasts 57-34. The song jumps 41-30 on Digital Songs and 13-7 on Hot Rap Songs. Below Drake, X Ambassadors' "Renegades" leaps 45-37, giving the band their first top-40. The track keeps at #44 on Digital Songs and debuts at #47 on Radio Songs; on the genre charts, it keeps at #3 on Hot Rock Songs and at #11 on Adult Pop Songs. Finally, following the August 14 release of the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton, the eponymous N.W.A. song debuts at #38, 27 years after it was first released. Incredibly, it's the first time N.W.A. have ever charted on the Hot 100 at all. "Straight Outta Compton" debuts at #33 on Digital Songs, at #23 on Streaming Songs, and at #9 on Hot Rap Songs.Further Down: @iHeartMemphis' "Hit the Quan" debuts at #41. The viral hit owes its debut to its #19 entrance on Streaming Songs; on Digital Songs, it drops 45-47. The track surges 29-15 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. Another debuting song indebted to Straight Outta Compton is Eazy-E's "Boyz-n-the-Hood", which opens at #50. The 28-year-old song debuts at #22 on Digital Songs and at #18 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. Finally, this week's biggest positional gainer is Little Mix's "Black Magic", which flies 99-68. The track benefits from Little Mix's performance at the Teen Choice Awards on the 16th. Accordingly, it debuts at #48 on Digital Songs, while on Pop Songs, it rises 29-28.
August 27, 20159 yr If the Billboard chart archives and Wikipedia are to be believed, it's the first time N.W.A. have ever charted on the Hot 100 at all, which is pretty incredible. How strange, especially as they even had a couple of hit singles in the UK. I mean 'Straight Outta Compton' had become a classic anyway, but yay for it finally getting a chart position to back that up to some degree I guess. (Didn't notice that Eazy-E track making its first ever Hot 100 appearance as well!)
August 29, 20159 yr It is TIME for Little Mix to smash it stateside - please let Black Magic be the song that makes it happen.
August 29, 20159 yr Ooh, wonder what brings Shut Up And Dance back in the top 10. Great to see Renegades, Crash And Burn, and Stitches all finally top 40 and still climbing!

August 30, 20159 yr Ooh, wonder what brings Shut Up And Dance back in the top 10. I think it was used in a viral video. Slightly mad because it stopped Fetty Wap from holding down #8-#10
