I know all artists have their threads in one forum but this is definitely Pop.

Without hearing the song you can hardly say it's pop or urban :lol:

I could be totally wrong because Syco lead singles are usually quite strong but I've just got a worried feeling from the title and lyric (I'm aware how stupid it is for me to judge off such things) that this is going to sound cheaper than I'd hoped from her.

They played a clip on GMB this morning and I mean a clip basically a line and then the sax... I liked it though sounds quite fresh

LOL sounds like a poundland version of uptown funk.

That sounds awfully cheap to me. I mean, it sounds catchy and definitely not awful, but I wanted something brilliant from her.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one that thought Uptown Funk on that clip. I just hope it sounds much better when the full version drops.

I think her debut single was always going to be some sort of ode to Uptown Funk, I'd have been surprised if it hadn't been.

From that clip, it sounds like a TOO obvious 'Uptown Funk' clone. Referencing the sax and having that as the hook/judgement doesn't help either. It's too knowing/designed to be a hit for me to enjoy it so far but we'll see.

It sounds too much like Uptown Funk, but I guess that's what I expected.

It does sound very cheap and tinny but it's not a HQ clip. I still have belief in her team that her first hit will be a monster. Cheap production will not cut it.

 

I'm not really getting the 'Uptown Funk' vibes though tbh.

I don't see how people can judge a song from a 20 second snippet and it's not also in HQ the snippet either. I'll wait until I here the full song.

The sax bit does sound cheap and tinny I agree, regardless of it being LQ, reminds me a tad of Crazy Stupid Love's instrumental chorus, but it's catchy anyway and I think I'll like the song - I'll judge when we hear it all!

Okay. So the sax breakdown definitely sounds miles better from the HQ clip. I still think it's a bit too predictable going with an 'Uptown Funk' clone but at least it's now sounding like a good one. I so want her to do well.
