Columbia Records’ Mark Ronson this week saw his global phenomenon ‘Uptown Funk’, featuring Bruno Mars, become the fifth biggest-selling single in UK history.

The track first broke through the 2 million sales barrier before overtaking Wings’ 1977 hit Mull Of Kintyre/Girls’ School, when downloads and streams are combined.

It has had extraordinary international success too, with global sales now standing at a staggering 14.6 million TTE (Total Track Equivalent) - which includes downloads, audio and video streams.

‘Uptown Funk’ – released by RCA in the US – remained #1 in the US Hot 100 for 14 weeks, as well as staying in the US Top 10 for an astounding 31 weeks in total, recording the second-longest run for a Top 10 hit in the process.

This incredible success means 'Uptown Funk' has become only the second single of the millennium to break into the Top Ten biggest-selling singles in the UK ever, alongside fellow Sony Music artist, Pharrell Williams’ ‘Happy’ which sits at No.4 in the list

Perhaps my prediction of it passing 3 million chart sales will come true? :cheer:
