Yeah, the producers need to be careful if they have Adele on the final. If the X Factor winner 'only' shifts 100k downloads this year (bearing in mind the collapse of the download market) and I doubt it will be streamed much in week one/ever, then an Adele performance that makes a major impact could snatch the Xmas #1 from their hands with 150k sales maybe.

 

I had a sneaky suspicion Adele will be on next Sunday, though that doesn't stop her from being on again for the final.

She'd have to sell more than 660k(?) in 3 days to steal Oasis' record for fastest selling album, I don't think that's possible.

Yeah, 663,389 in 3 days, which was reported as 696k at the time. Also, in its first 7 days of release, the album sold 813k (again, a total from the time, so its sales will have been downgraded somewhat).

 

Its first day sales were initially reported as 356k, which will have been downgraded but surely still over 300k which is also the highest first day sales (the second fastest selling album over a debut week, Take That's Progress, got 235k on its first day), so will be interesting to see how Adele fares, as highest first day sales is probably more likely than highest first week sales.

I don't think it's a huge surprise that Adele will prob try to move to single 2 from the album before the end of the year as most artists release a new single in sept-October then release single 2 to impact in Xmas week!

Adele's sales are huge and they'll no doubt drop considerably over the next few weeks but I can see them rocketing up again after the first live performance of Hello. You know that it's going to be incredible and I think it'll give her a massive boost again. She's got number 1 on lockdown for the foreseeable future.

 

I hope we get some news of a performance soon.

The first paragraph showed that Amazon UK obtained 100,000 requests for the album before the recording session.

Fantastic sales for Adele. I'm calling 260k now. I'm thinking Beiber could make just over 80k again this week. He's really stabilised at #2 on iTunes and is getting huge streams also.
