How Deep Is Your Love is getting a bit old. Still, at least Sweet Nothing beat it in the Calvin Harris least favourite poll.
I still love How Deep Is Your Love but isn't it time for a new song, Calvin?
Am I right that there are only 2 entries to this weeks chart? (new + re-entries)

Correct :drama: Very slow week beyond the massive top 2 sales!

That Spice Girls song was crap, why did they change from what was a winning-formula sound for them in the 90s to something that really didn't work?

:arrr: Brb, messaging Michael~

They weren't going to know during its creation whether it'd "work" or not, would they? Hindsight is a wonderful thing. They still got a #1 out of Holler anyway, significantly ahead of the #2, so arguably they did something right. It was produced and written in 1999, when TLC and Destiny's Child were hugely successful with r&b songs. The Spice Girls wanted to "mature" and I guess working with American producers on a "hot" sound seemed logical to them at the time, to develop.

Biography

Elena Jane "Ellie" Goulding (born 30 December 1986) is an English singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Lyonshall, Herefordshire. Her career began when she met record producer Starsmith and Frankmusik, and she was later spotted by Jamie Lillywhite, who later became her manager and A&R. After signing to Polydor Records in July 2009, Goulding released her debut extended play, An Introduction to Ellie Goulding, later that year.

In 2010, she became the second artist to both top the BBC's annual Sound of... poll and win the Critics' Choice Award at the Brit Awards in the same year. Goulding released her debut studio album, Lights, in 2010. The album debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and has sold over 850,000 copies in the UK. Her cover of Elton John's "Your Song" reached number two in the UK in December 2010 and on 29 April 2011 she performed the song at the wedding reception of Prince William and Catherine Middleton at Buckingham Palace. The album's title track, "Lights", was released in the US in March 2011, and peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified triple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Goulding's second album Halcyon was released in October 2012, "Anything Could Happen" preceded the album as the lead single. Halcyon debuted at number two on the UK Albums Chart, and, after 65 weeks, reached number one. Halcyon debuted at number nine on the Billboard 200 Chart, her first top ten debut in the United States. Halcyon Days, a repackaged edition of Halcyon, was released on 23 August 2013, it included new singles including "Burn", which became her first UK number-one single in the same month. At the 2014 BRIT Awards she received the award for Best British Female. By the end of 2013, she has sold an estimated 4 million albums and 15 million singles worldwide. - Wikipedia

Ow, big drop for this, was hoping it would be much bigger than it has been when I first heard it. It's a fantastic pop song imo. Army seems to be a bit slow starting so far but hopefully that'll pick up.
Be Right There isn't sounding as good as last week.
I'm a HUGE fan of Jade's Don't Walk Away (probably one of my top 5 fave r&b songs of all time) and Be Right There does a lot of justice to it.

Biography

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are an American hip hop duo formed in 2008, from Seattle, Washington. The duo is composed of Ben Haggerty, a rapper who goes by the name of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, a record producer, DJ, and professional photographer, who met the former at a photo shoot and they have significantly collaborated ever since. In 2009, they released their first collaborative effort, an EP titled VS. EP. They have since followed up with VS. Redux (2010) and the Grammy Award-winning album The Heist (2012).

Macklemore and Lewis' single "Thrift Shop" reached at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 2013. The single was premiered on commercial radio by radio personality Jay Postal on September 2, 2012, and was soon dubbed the first song since 1994 to top the Hot 100 chart without the support of a major record label by Billboard, although Macklemore, in a slightly unusual recording contract, pays a nominal percentage of sales to use Warner Bros. Records’ radio promotion department to push his singles. Their second single, "Can't Hold Us" also peaked at number one of the Hot 100 Chart, making Macklemore and Lewis the first duo in the chart's history to have their first two singles both reach the peak position. Macklemore and Lewis released their debut studio album The Heist on October 9, 2012, which charted at number 2 on the US Billboard 200. The pair was nominated for seven Grammy awards at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards, winning four awards, including Best New Artist, Best Rap Album (The Heist), Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance ("Thrift Shop"). Thrift Shop has gained approximately 755,776,153 YouTube views as of August 29, 2015. - Wikipedia
