Has Sigma's Coming Home been released yet? Seems strange to premiere the song/video today but not release it until tomorrow with no pre-order available?
415 99 Souls - The Girl Is Mine (feat. Destiny's Child & Brandy) [pre-order]

Brandy rerecorded new vocals for this which is why this is finally able to get released (plus they got clearance from DC's former manager, Beyonce's dad, Matthew Knowles!).

3Beat don't tend to do on OAOS though do they

Nobody can really prove this though. I think most of these songs that have ended up missing the top 20 that would have made it with a held back release have sold about what they would have done anyway, just with a shorter chart run.

Sure there are probably exceptions, like the Blonde song (maybe Foxes too although that would have crashed and burned after a low top 40 peak anyway - so what's the point?), which probably would have been a hit with radio support if it was held back, but what's to guarantee it would have got radio support with this strategy, and even if it had, what's to say it wouldn't have just gone 18-39-74-OUT, accruing probably only a few more sales than it would have done anyway.

Record companies really need to get over these inflated chart positions somehow determining a 'hit', in what world does this sort of chart run look good on anyone? Sure the media will have a field day with a No.28 debut for a seemingly major star but they'll have just as much fun with a song sliding from 10-40 in the second week...

For the last time, it's not record companies that are obsessed with chart positions. It's the media. If a single is dead on arrival it doesn't get the support.

I do hope that 99 Souls track can become a belated hit. Loved it so much for months!

Even heard it on a couple of nights out, it always goes down a storm.

It's both. Certainly in the case of labels like AATW and MOS.

Well I was never a Fleur fan on the show so was never going to LOVE this but even I'm a little disappointed. It seems the best bit was the instrumental bit we kept hearing over and over as a snippet. Her voice is just too strained for me. It will be interesting when she does this live how the rapping bits go as it was terrible on the live final last year.

Even if your not a fan of an artist and they come up with a piece of music you naturally love would you not just love it?!

Lots of probbable top 10 entries next week then.

Take Me Home, In2, Sax, untitled Coldplay track, Coming Home.

We'll probably have a bit of a clear-out, though I'm not as confident that Sigma/Rita and Jess Glynne will make the top 10 next week (Jess will certainly do it the week after, I'd imagine).

We should get a decent amount of NEs next Friday but not sure Coldplay have enough to be top 10 (depending on streaming some influence) but Coldplay usually just fall short although a lot of the time they released previous singles mid week.

99 Souls to somehow become a smash would be great, the song's been around since December last year though so maybe it's too late.

 #4 MNEK & Zara Larsson

Well...this has taken me by surprise! Still don't get the hype though.

Sales are dropping quite heavily and pre-orders are by far not as high as last year or 2 years ago I fail to see why held back releases could have advantage again next year (when sales will drop more). So I will watch but it won't happen ;) (and good so imho)

Also the market needs a bit more time to adapt to this new situation.

Agreed even in times when preorders were in their prime around June 2014 when Sing by Ed Sheeran wasn't given an OAOS release and given it premiere on Zane Lowe in April 8 full weeks before release and then in June it debuted impressively with 133k sales but the question I would ask is would it have sold more than 133k in the 8 weeks previously? Course it would!

That was a huge turning point for me even if I was a huge fan of OAOS long before this.

Yeh all Sigmas releases have been held back.
