Nicky will improve with each performance as his confidence will grow. I always seen Nickly as the most underrated and underused member of Westlife. Its nice that he is getting the spot light now (no matter how short lived). It is a good entry from Ireland, one that should qualify but will struggle in the final, that said, he should get high UK votes as he has the fan-base through Westlife.

I hope Nicky will attend Eurovision In Concert on 9th of April, that is a good opportunity to present his song.

Even if he just qualifies, it will have a positive reaction since that didn't happen in recent years.

Also, regardless of his Eurovision part, he still has an album coming out. I don't expect anything, not after I see how Shane and Mark are struggling. But as long as he is happy with it, that is the most important thing.

Nicky's 2nd live performance:

I think everything was much better now - the vocals were good, he didn't miss a note he seemed more confident and he moved around the stage.

This was a huge improvement on The Ray Darcy Show. So much better without the backing singers! Deserves to qualify at the least.

Its a far better performance. Here in Ireland it seems to have very mixed reviews and many people seem to be against the way the irish entry wim starting as picked. I hope Nicky can qualify but to think if he does he wont do great at the final.

All he can do is do a great performance, that is it. Even if he just qualifies, it will be nice. And just like Nicky said, they can always get back to the public choosing the act next year, it obviously wasn't working since Ireland hasn't even qualified for a while.

I think poor Nicky is getting too much heat for no reason. No one is saying this is a winner song or that he is a perfect singer. But come on, the song is harmless and catchy, just what Eurovision is all about. And it is not like amazing singers ALWAYS go to Eurovision, this show is more than just the voice. To be perfectly honest, Swedish entry to me sounds worse than Irish one, Frans voice is also very average and yet Sweden is considered one of the favorites to win while people blast Nicky's vocal.

The thing is, it is all subjective really, what songs you like and don't like. But again, Nicky is criticized way too much. He is so happy and proud to do this, most with his fame would be embarrassed to do this. But he is genuinely so honored to do this.

It's not true. No radio station in Ireland plays any Eurovision song and hasn't for a long time. The song would be getting the same amount of airplay (read: 0) no matter who was singing it or who they worked for.

I do hope he will truly promo it more in May as planned because there was no point then in revealing so early if he hadn't planned to promo his entry.

It is a shame that he at least didn't perform in the UK. If his job is really an issue they should habe thought about that before RTE select him to do this.

It is starting to appear this will be a disaster for Ireland and Nicky Byrne. Nicky is getting nothing but negative press with his entry by the looks of things. Considering who he is i would have expected Ireland to pull all the punches.

I haven't seen negative press apart from this, where?

I read that a few Irish celebrities backed him up and that 1 where Nicky said Louis Walsh told him it is a good song but that he won't win.

I think this last criticism is justified, I really thought he would do tons of promo since he revealed his song so early but no. I doubt this is his fault though, the team nehind him should have made an effort.

No matter what happens though, he is releasing his debut album in early May which is a smart move.

The promotion or lack off has received negative press and apparently radio stations in Ireland are refusing to play the song as Nicky himself works on a station called 2fm which is opposition. Outside of these i understand their was a backlash of how the entry was selected. Ireland need the Westlife fans to come out in force to back this entry if it stands even a chance of making it out of the semi's.

I feel 3/10 is quite generous.

I don't really have another hate figure for this year though so Nicky will have to suffice for giving as, like they said, a weak and flat song.

I'd say about 5/10, it's inoffensive I guess, but reminds me of a weaker imitation of something that would have fit on Matt Cardle's debut. His voice is starting to grate on me a fair bit though so I think I'll go off it a bit more

You know what, he deserves to be criticized for the lack of promo.

Looking at the pre-Eurovision party and Ireland is nowhere to be seen:

Its baffling he won't even appear in London on 17th. What goes in the heads of his team is truly a mystery.

^^ The lack of promo is baffling, He could have easily got some promo in some Westlife's biggest markets - UK, Germany, Netherlands, Norway & Sweden. Aside from Eurovision you would think his team would be keen to launch his solo career off the back of Westlife & ESC!
Exactly. What is the point in having him represent us if he isn't going to use his Westlife fame to Ireland's advantage?
