Stretch 'n' Vern - I'm Alive Nk0-vtvIZVA Average Score: 6.92 Total Votes: 13 Highest Rating: 10 (Jester) Lowest Rating: 3 (ThePensmith & Viper*) In ninth it's Deep Blue Something with the brilliant track Breakfast At Tiffany's. The band would prove to be somewhat a one hit wonder with only one further visit to the top 40. Finishing in tenth it's a group so unknown they don't even have a Wikipedia page. The track is an uptempo dance number which is a bit of a surprise to see end in the top 10. It's lowest score of 3 was only matched by the top two tracks.

This track however, mystifyingly to me, finishes in seventh. The Beautiful South cropped up their fair share of times as well with varying standards of tracks. Rotterdam finishes a respectable eighth place.

It was also, however, the only track within the top 6 not to receive an 11. Just behind are the Pet Shop Boys, another band with mixed results in these rates. No scores lower than 2 meant it couldn't be pulled any further down than sixth.

Suede - Beautiful Ones xqovGKdgAXY Average Score: 7.64 Total Votes: 14 Highest Rating: 11 (dandy*) Lowest Rating: 0 (bluesunstorm) Finishing in a very impressive fourth is Suede with one of their many top 10 singles, Beautiful Ones. In bronze place it's Aussie band Crowded House with the iconic song Don't Dream It's Over. This was originally a hit in 1987 but upon re-issue entered back into the chart in 1996. Despite its popularity it never peaked higher than #25 in either of its runs. Which leaves us with the mammoth battle that is: Insomnia Vs Spice Up Your Life. These two themselves were well ahead of everyone else but there was still a huge gap between #1 and #2. Which way will it go?

Faithless - Insomnia P8JEm4d6Wu4 Average Score: 8.67 Total Votes: 15 Highest Rating: 11 (Chapman & gavindeejay) Lowest Rating: 3 (darkstar79) So in a week where we had a Spice Girls poll it's perhaps fitting they win the incumbent Now Rate. This, their second win after Wannabe, really was the runaway leader from start, actually averaging above 10 for most of the voting until a few lower scores at the end pushed it down to a still excellent 9.13, a higher average score than Wannabe won the Now 34 rate with. With six 11's and three further 10's it really was head and shoulders above the rest. Big congratulations to Faithless too with the iconic Insomnia, one of the most recognisable dance tracks of the 90s. Both tracks only received a 3 each and were the only two to average above 8. Well done all round! Thanks to the 14 others who participated in this rate, more stats to follow and the next rate will be up before the night is out.
