December 11, 20159 yr 'Made In The A.M.' is still too high tbh, but there's been plenty of good albums so far! :D

This is an album I'd been anticipating since February 2014 when I saw him as a support act for Tom Odell, and really liked what I heard. Hold Back the River's release later that year made me even more excited, and unsurprisingly it was huge in my chart. The album definitely didn't disappoint, not being as ballad heavy as you'd expect. The single choices so far are good, although I'd have swapped Scars and If You Ever Want to Be in Love, to show some diversity sooner. Glad it's been a massive album in the UK also and I really hope the success can be maintained with album #2! It just misses out on my top 5 due to a competitive year where many albums are quite close together in my affections. http://i759.photobucket.com/albums/xx240/MarthaJonesFan/Cover%20Sleeves/The%20Vamps%20-%20Wake%20Up%20album.png 5 The Vamps - Wake Up - 1-… (1+ weeks) Top 40 hits from the album 01 Wake Up - 1-2-4-6-9-16-21-28-31-… (9+ weeks) 12 Volcano (feat. Silentó) - 12-… (1+ weeks) 17 Rest Your Love - 17-… (1+ weeks) 28 Cheater - 28-34-X (2 weeks) The latest addition to the chart, The Vamps' album soars into my top 5 of the year after just one week of charting (well, it's at three weeks now but was 1 week when I did these lists). The chart runs look very out of date already as Rest Your Love has made #1 and Volcano went top 5 this week but I'm ensuring they still reflect the chart year. Wake Up the song, despite being very good, kinda killed my momentum for this album slightly, but it turns out it's actually not even in my top 5 of the album and there are so many good songs, it's a really good album and it surpassed my expectations. It's not as good as Meet The Vamps, which was my EOY #1 last year, but I didn't expect it to be.
December 12, 20159 yr Hi Joseph Quite liked James Bay's album and he's picked all the right singles so far as well. Can't go wrong with a bit of MOR every once in a while and I love the chillness to his songs  Still haven't had time to listen to Wake Up in full yet, the first two singles are really good though and keeping up their fantastic singles discography so far. Excited for it and they really deserve more attention than they've been getting so far. No top 10 singles is really sad :(

(2+ weeks) I'm sure most of you still have absolutely no idea who Ulrik is but he's definitely one of my all-time favourite singers. This is his third fantastic album out of three to date and also the first foreign language album I've listened to in full from start to finish. In all honesty I've been quite sceptical with foreign language songs before, not knowing the lyrics or being able to sing along, but that hasn't stopped me with this album  The singles are all flawless and the title track is also a highlight, and whilst I prefer the first two albums, this is still a solid effort and he hasn't disappointed me yet. http://i759.photobucket.com/albums/xx240/MarthaJonesFan/Cover%20Sleeves/Justin%20Bieber%20-%20Purpose.png 3 Justin Bieber - Purpose - 2-1-2-… (3+ weeks) Top 40 hits from the album 01 Sorry - 1-2-4-3-5-6-… (6+ weeks) 01 What Do You Mean? - 1-1-2-2-4-6-8-11-10-17-21-15-18-25-… (14+ weeks) 03 Home To Mama (Justin Bieber & Cody Simpson) - 3-8-15-21-37-X (5 weeks) 03 Love Yourself - 30-3-5-… (3+ weeks) 17 Where Are Ü Now (Skrillex & Diplo feat. Justin Bieber) - 30-24-22-17-23-30-32-X-25-33-36-X-37-X (11 non-consecutive weeks) 27 I'll Show You - 35-28-27-36-… (4+ weeks) Another new album now, this time from Justin Bieber, three years after he last appeared in my EOY chart (with my favourite album of 2012, Believe). Purpose would've been a #1 contender with more time I think but finishes at a respectable third now. After Journals, I was unsure of what Justin was going to put out and my hype was not as high as it should've been, but the three singles are perfect so far and Where Are Ü Now proved to be a huge grower. Also just booked tickets to see him live in October, incredibly excited. Well and truly back on Team Bieber, I'll just ignore that Journals existed beside about three songs and pretend he's got a flawless record of albums from My Worlds, Believe and Purpose :kink:
December 13, 20159 yr Purpose & Title are both very good albums and surprised me actually by their overall standard! Made In The A.M. had some good tracks on it too, more than usual for a 1D album whereby I've tended to only like the singles in the past...
December 13, 20159 yr Author Cheers Dobbo :D It seems many people have been pleasantly surprised by Purpose, which is great to see! Already coming close to being his best selling album  I can reveal my album top two is between TROYE SIVAN and YEARS & YEARS :o
December 13, 20159 yr :o :o :o :o Thought Ulrik would be a lot higher with such a good run. Never listened to anything by him apart from that really good track you sent to BJSC, Nan Gang was a damn tune  Nice to see Purpose up here, I do wish there were some more uptempos on here because he's proved this era he can do them very well but his RNB slow jams are nice too - I've definitely been converted into a fan. Y&Y for the win, Troye's album was way too long for my liking.

December 13, 20159 yr Not heard any other JB album apart from Purpose but I found it to be really good not just the singles :D definitely improved his style for my taste I think.
December 13, 20159 yr Author Either way, WHO?! Both have had top 5 UK albums this year my love x Not heard any other JB album apart from Purpose but I found it to be really good not just the singles :D definitely improved his style for my taste I think. Yasss Spadam *.* I prefer Believe still but I don't think that would be to your tastes quite as much!
December 15, 20159 yr Author Albums http://i759.photobucket.com/albums/xx240/MarthaJonesFan/Cover%20Sleeves/Years%20amp%20Years%20-%20Communion.png 2 Years & Years - Communion - 5-1-1-1-2-1-2-2-2-2-3-6-7-9-10-13-3-5-10-12-14-... (16+ weeks) Top 40 hits from the album 01 Eyes Shut - 19-16-8-9-20-13-15-22-28-32-35-26-17-16-15-3-7-10-1-3-… (20+ weeks) 01 Shine - 7-23-23-28-37-X-1-4-6-10-15-16-20-26-30-35-39-X (16 non-consecutive weeks) 04 King - 8-10-8-4-7-9-11-18-16-21-27-27-32-33-37-X-35-X (16 non-consecutive weeks) 09 Desire - 9-11-25-34-X (4 weeks) I only just decided the order of this top 2, through a rating of each song on the albums (standard edition for Communion and deluxe for Blue Neighbourhood as these are the versions I listen to and prefer). Blue Neighbourhood got an average of 9.2 compared to Communion's 8.8, so the winner is clear. Communion took a couple of listens to click with me really. On first listen, I was disappointed. I wanted something better based on Desire, King and Shine, but after a relisten, I had a huge change of heart, and the album is now sat here as my 2nd favourite of the year. Eyes Shut was the huge highlight for me, a stunning track where Olly's dreamy voice can really shine (no pun intended), and I'm so delighted it's done fairly well as a single now. Other highlights include pre-fame single Take Shelter and Ties. The production and vocals really go hand in hand throughout the album and that's what makes it so good. Most songs have strong hooks yet manage to be growers. An album I'll be returning to for a while no doubt! http://i759.photobucket.com/albums/xx240/MarthaJonesFan/Cover%20Sleeves/Troye%20Sivan%20-%20Blue%20Neighbourhood.png 1 Troye Sivan - Blue Neighbourhood - 3-4-5-… (3+ weeks) Top 40 hits from the album 01 WILD - 35-1-1-3-2-4-6-7-14-19-24-23-28-… (13+ weeks) 02 TALK ME DOWN - 2-3-6-11-18-20-30-… (7+ weeks) 04 FOOLS - 33-4-5-8-14-23-34-38-35-X (9 weeks) 07 BITE - 16-7-12-19-30-38-X-37-X (7 non-oonsecutive weeks) 10 YOUTH - 10-13-… (2+ weeks) This chart run looks slightly strange considering it's my EOY #1 album but the two weeks after the cut-off point, it's been at #1, and it only actually made itself eligible for this year by the fact that I heard it three weeks early....somehow. Troye Sivan was a name I was interested in to some degree following the pretty good TRXYE EP, although I wasn't a massive stan then, so when the WILD EP came around, the title track took me by surprise, pleasantly. It clicked right away and the incredible video helped too. The rest of the EP grew on repeated listens, with each song hitting me at a different moment. Then the album got announced, after a video for FOOLS which was even better than that of WILD. I was very excited for the album and it didn't disappoint. YOUTH, for him., SUBURBIA and others are all pretty insane tracks. The entire album is so strong and cohesive though, and its UK chart peak of #43 is incredibly unjustified. Troye's music is honest, he makes no secret of the fact that it's about boys, and he knows exactly who he is as both a person and an artist, and it's incredibly refreshing for someone so young. The breakout story of the year for me for sure. My rate of each track: 11.0 WILD 10.0 BITE 10.0 FOOLS 08.5 EASE (feat. Broods) 08.0 THE QUIET 09.0 DKLA (feat. Tkay Maidza) 10.0 TALK ME DOWN 08.5 COOL 08.0 HEAVEN (feat. Betty Who) 10.0 YOUTH 09.0 LOST BOY 10.0 for him. (feat. Allday) 09.5 SUBURBIA 09.0 TOO GOOD 08.0 BLUE (feat. Alex Hope) For the Reginas amongst us who don't know Troye, the Blue Neighbourhood video trilogy is a MUST, incredibly touching and beautifully executed: fdXNNveYOfU uxg222-hWWc Lo3lxS-6joY
December 15, 20159 yr ;) :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:    !! BURN JOSEPH AT THE STAKE FOR HIS ATROTICITIES COMMITTED TO THE ART OF ALBUM RANKING !!   :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:
December 15, 20159 yr Hello there Joseph I do like the lyrics and artistry behind Troye's music and he has some nice tracks, namely Touch, Wild and Happy Little Pill but the album definitely got boring for me eventually. I agree with you that #43 is not fair but I wouldn't have it top 10 either! Such an odd chart run for a EOY #1 as well, aha! Excited for the singles now.
