Body_on_Me_by_Rita_Ora.png

150.) Rita Ora f/Chris Brown - "Body On Me"
Chart Points: 1876
2nd Single, TBA
Chart Run: 49-49-43-39-36-32-27-23-26-42 (10 weeks)

Kickstarting our list here is Rita Ora with one of the many Chris Brown features on here, "Body On Me". Last year, "I Will Never Let You Down" was among one of my most played songs, and that was maybe due to the dancey nature of it. She release "Poison" which I liked, but it never made a lasting impression on me. This one was a bit different. It was slower like "Poison" was, but in a way that makes it seductive and almost animalistic (as proven by the tribal chants in the beginning of the song). Picture yourself with your significant other in a vacation house someplace tropical (like São Paulo or Bora-Bora) and you'll get how I feel about this song. They work well together, and I guess it worked in their favor.

149.) Cash Cash f/Busta Rhymes, B.o.B & Neon Hitch - "Devil"
Chart Points: 1955
Non-album single
Chart Run: 48-37-36-35-33-33-30-29-30-29-46 (11 weeks)

Don't let this peak fool you, Cash Cash have been doing amazingly. "Surrender" is still to come, and "Untouchable" was also good. I felt that this trap movement was a bit left-field for them, considering I was used to progressive house (and "Overtime" which is on another dimension), but it really surprised me. Really quenched my thirst for new Cash Cash, and surprisingly for new Neon Hitch music. I had been waiting for her to be featured on something since her past EP (which was AMAZING), and you can tell by the sudden spike in the chart run that it was a sure-fire hit for me. Luckily for me, both acts have released new music, so be sure to check out more from them over the coming weeks of 2016.

some of those bubblin' under songs really should be top 150 :( Heroes and The Girl Is Mine both made my top 40

individual commentary for the whole 150 though! :o hope you keep it up, looking good so far (Body on Me is the best thing Rita Ora's done this year musically :music:)

"Heroes (We Could Be)" was a leftover from 2014 (top 50 of the year!), and "The Girl Is Mine" is still charting so it has some potential to be big in 2016!

Yeah individual commentary like my chart shows will go on for the singles, the albums will be in bundles. We'll cross that bridge when we get there.

Charli_XCX_-_Doing_It_(feat._Rita_Ora).png

148.) Charli XCX f/Rita Ora - "Doing It"
Chart Points: 2003
3rd Single, Sucker
Chart Run: 48-45-40-30-29-25-22-26-47 (9 weeks)

More Rita Ora now. I think she's begun to chart here a lot more now with her incoming presence in both features and her new music. I charted both "Boom Clap" and "Break The Rules" before the Buzzjack days and both came top 10, so for this to only scrape a top 25 was a bit surprising. Then again, it was charting during really competitive weeks (from the Zedd/Conor/Carly onslaught to my first BJSC entry). I'm not really helping my case, am I? Anyway, this song also came with a pretty eccentric and triply video with Charli dressed up in one of those pink cowgirl outfits eight-year-olds would wear when they want to play sheriff. Ladies, take notes on potential Halloween costumes. Rita also does a good job on her verse, and for the most part, it's an enjoyable song perfect for spring break.

FallOutBoyIrresistable.jpg

147.) Fall Out Boy f/Demi Lovato - "Irresistible"
Chart Points: 2048
3rd Single, American Beauty / American Psycho
Chart Run: 48-44-35-34-32-29-27-22... (8 weeks)

The first of three Demi Lovato appearances, and the first of many potential hits for 2016. Fall Out Boy can just do no wrong for me (yeah, I don't see what's the big issue with "American Beauty / American Psycho", that is punk rock at its finest). This time, they've delved into many different types of rock, from the classic FOB epics in "Centuries" to the teen beach surf-rock flashback that is "Uma Thurman". "Irresistible" falls more into the former category, and while the lyrics are more serenade-ish, the instrumental is on a similar vibe to "Centuries", and I mean more of a "preparing the troops for an epic battle to the death 300-style" vibe. Demi's addition helped fuel this kerosene-embedded masterpiece into something with a bit more fire, especially with her interpolation of the middle 8 ("I still love the the way I hurt you"). I hear this more on Radio Disney, and we all know how they make such shitty radio edits of songs. That "Secondhand smoke, secondhand smoke..." line BELONGS in there.

Jason_Derulo_Cheyenne.jpg

146.) Jason DeRulo - "Cheyenne"
Chart Points: 2063
2nd Single, Everything Is 4
Chart Run: 44-30-26-27-25-27-34-47 (8 weeks)

One of JDR's best track lands in at #146 for 2015. Now, this is a side of him that we haven't seen in a while (or at least before "Want To Want Me"), so to see him go back to that more sentimental side of him was pretty nice. Not that I didn't like "Talk Dirty" or anything, it's just that everything that followed it was the same-old same old. Plus, the same type of production that was in "Hold On, We're Going Home" and "Do What U Want" worked so well for many other artists, so I was confused when this ended up flopping everywhere. Even in Australia and he usually gets hits there.

Maroon_5_Sugar_cover.png

145.) Maroon 5 - "Sugar"
Chart Points: 2068
3rd Single, V
Chart Run: 49-43-31-26-23-23-24-32 (8 weeks)

I actually... don't hate this as much now than I did a few weeks ago. Actually for a giant chunk of the year (except probably on release) I was like "CAN THIS GET THE F*CK AWAY ALREADY", but now that it's not being hammered into my ears like I'm a kid getting his first vaccination shot, it's kinda meh. I even DEBATED putting this into the hate chart because it was so annoying. The video, I will say, is GENIUS. There has been some controversy about how there were fake marriage scenes in the video because ANTM alum Raina Hein also appears in the video... as a bride. She got engaged SIX MONTHS AGO, literally five months after the video was released. Hmmm... pretty shady stuff... Anyway, this is a typical Maroon 5 track, Adam Levine falsetto and all, and there's not much to say about that because everything else will be just complaints.

Luckily, the occasionally amazing Maroon 5 song that you just can't help but like will appear further into the countdown.

Ooh...Renegades is way higher on my EOY than yours, even though you introduced me to it :o

I'm also very surprised and disappointed at Cheyenne flopping. I'm just now really reeeeally getting into Get Ugly (*.*) and it should easily turn things around for Jason so yay.

A lot of tunes in your bubbling under. (Around The World, Sax, The Girl Is Mine & Bills)

I really liked Doing It at the time but I haven't heard it in ages. I've gone off Charli a little bit.

Devil was a great song especially for a first time foray into trap sounds.

Body On Me was for sure a grower. Preferred Poison but both were good on radio.

I think it just burnt out on me after I went on vacation and plus It got bogged down by all the high debuts that came its way. I think when it became a hit out of the blue, I was kinda taken aback.

Clean-Bandit-Real-Love-Single-Cover.jpg

144.) Clean Bandit f/Jess Glynne - "Real Love"
Chart Points: 2310
7th Single, New Eyes
Chart Run: 50-33-33-33-35-29-25-19-17-16-15-16-22-22-28-38 (16 weeks (5 in 2015))

Our first carryover from 2014 comes from Clean Bandit and Jess Glynne's rehash of "Rather Be", a few months before Jess herself rehashed it into her biggest hit in the UK yet. For a single that only started moving down when the year started, its high peak was pretty advantageous when ranking it against the other 2014 carry overs. Back to the acts though - while Jess went on to shatter records left and right, Clean Bandit released "Stronger" and then... I don't know. I'm still really hoping for another single by Clean Bandit, and I'm hoping it's as euphoric as this one was.

Avicii's_Waiting_For_Love,_Cover_Artwork.png

143.) Avicii - "Waiting For Love"
Chart Points: 2319
Lead Single, Stories
Chart Run: 49-48-41-34-34-22-23-25-28-40 (10 weeks)

Avicii's long-awaited second album was slated to become as huge as True was, but it ended up disappointing in both its single performance and critical Buzzjack acclaim. In short: what the hell happened? I guess that's what he gets for recycling the same folk-dance style to get a quick buck. Back to this though - I really liked it in the coming weeks toward its release in the UK, then by the sixth week, something happened. I don't know what, but it became an absolute banger... until I forgot about it again. This was slated to be a #1 and it seemed like his team wanted to make sure of it, but competing against "Black Magic"? No wonder Dan hates that track so much.

Clean Bandit ft Jess Glynne Joseph's Fave is really amazingly produced

Iggy_Azalea_-_Beg_for_It_feat._MO_(single_cover).png

142.) Iggy Azalea f/MØ - "Beg For It"
Chart Points: 2331
Lead Single, Reclassified
Chart Run: 20-17-16-12-8-5-6-3-9-12-16-24-34 (13 weeks (4 in 2015))

Iggy Azalea had two of the five biggest songs of 2014 IMO, but she doesn't come any higher than this for 2015. Featuring Danish singer MØ (who ended up featuring in one of the biggest songs of the year), this was released as the lead to Iggy's re-release of The New Classic. This is a bit Fancy part deux and I guess that's what led to it crashing and burning during the end of the year. MØ kills her part as always though, and her commentary ends here for now; we will pick it up when "Lean On" appears.

I feel like in terms of productions, they're the most consistent, especially when it comes to mashing up baroque styles with deep house.
