August 25, 20168 yr I'd still put money on Hamilton finishing ahead of Rosberg tbh! But please, can Ricciardo win a race this year.
August 27, 20168 yr 30 21 place grid penalty for Hamilton, though what happens with who actually takes the back of the grid between him, Alonso & Ericsson I'll have fun trying to work out. Reminds me of that 150-odd grid penalty for Button last year, what nonsense!
August 27, 20168 yr Author Up to 55 now as Merc take a third engine gaming the rules to avoid further penalties. I hope they all fail spectacularly mid race
August 28, 20168 yr Really pleased to see Magnussen get out of the car after this horrific crash. The race until the red flag was more exciting than the rest of the race. Annoyed that Hulkenberg just missed out on the podium. Verstappen really does need to change his driving tactics before a serious accident happens. Great driver with bags of potential.
August 28, 20168 yr Author KMag :( I'm really glad he's ok and it sounds like he'll be fine for racing next weekend. Looked like a nasty shunt. Actually reminds me of one Fisichella had in the wet in 2005 in a very similar place. So Eau Rouge isn't a great corner if you're driving a Renault
August 29, 20168 yr Great result in terms of damage limitation for Hammo, really though he was gonna sneak 2nd too but a podium is a superb result nonetheless, helped a lot by the Max-Seb-Kimi collision at turn 1 of course. Quite a frantic start really, so glad K-Mag walked away from that crash it's crazy how fast they're going up there to be met by pretty much a flat wall. Must say I'm loving Verstappen this season, he's pushing the boundaries but I'm always on the edge of my seat when he goes for overtake or defends an attack, sign of a champion. Also shame for Hulk finishing 4th again, I feel a podium finish is imminent for him & hope he can reel a few off before the end of the season as Perez managed earlier in the year.
August 30, 20168 yr I think it's about time Verstappen got some sort of penalty or warning, he's sailed very close to what's allowed on several occasions now and I think what happened with Raikkonen on the straight after Eau Rouge I think it was with his insanely late change of direction and then also bumping Perez off track at Les Combes is starting to become too much. I think it's good that there is some leniency from stewards for a change, but Verstappen seems to get away with everything because he's Verstappen. It doesn't help that Channel 4 and Sky are obsessed with him, which is exactly what turned me off Hamilton right from the word go (and his personality since has just added more substance to that).
September 1, 20168 yr A shame but it was inevitable, he was never going to win another GP. Wonder if JB will make the grand return next season now?
September 1, 20168 yr He was never the same driver from that crash in 2009. Should have won the 2010 German Grand Prix bar the "Fernando is faster than you".
September 3, 20168 yr Stunning lap from Lewis there half a second quicker than Nico. Ferrari at least salvaging the 2nd row in front of the Tifosi I thought a Williams may have pipped them with the Mercedes engine. Elsewhere great result for Gutierrez getting a Haas into the top 10 & Wehrlein again punching above his weight, surely only a matter of time before he's in a midtable car.
September 3, 20168 yr Big news from McLaren that Button will step down as a driver to become an ambassador so Stoffel Vandoorne will take his spot. Surely the end of his racing career in F1 now...
September 4, 20168 yr I can't see Button coming back in 2018 for me. I'll be amazed if Kvyat or Gutierrez are in F1 next year. What a decline it has been for Kvyat.
September 7, 20168 yr Liberty Media has bought Formula One for $8 billion. The dictator, Bernie remains in a role.
September 8, 20168 yr Author But only for a couple of years then it's ding dong the c**t is gone! I'm hopeful that this will be good for the sport in the long run. As an FYI as to who this lot are, this is the company that now own Virgin Media
September 18, 20168 yr Red Bull teasing us all there with that finish, just not going to happen for Danny Ric this year sadly...
September 19, 20168 yr Author It's a shame, that was probably their best shot of the year. Renault scored a point though!!!! Super happy to see us in the points again. It's been a long season
September 21, 20168 yr It's a shame, that was probably their best shot of the year. Renault scored a point though!!!! Super happy to see us in the points again. It's been a long season Who do you think will be driving for Renault next year, Silas?
