Get in Lewis! Ferrari screwing up on strategy once again but the Merc had the pace anyway. Driver of the Day definitely Bottas for getting an uncompetitive Williams onto the podium.

Rosberg showing his ineptitude at the end there!

The move was good. The problem was his brakes going. Same problem that struck Merc at Canada in 2014.

Another crap Canadian GP. The lack of overtaking and Safety Cars is heartbreaking. Some of my favourite GP's have been the Canadian ones! Usually good for a couple of safety cars but past few have tended towards processional borefests like every other grand prix Merc have ruined.

That's true it certainly won't go down as a classic Canadian GP, shame the rain didn't come to spice things up.

We'll do well to get better races than Spain & Monaco this season but going into a new circuit next weekend should be interesting at least.

A number of years ago I ended up being able to sign up the the Renault Media site, as a result I get all their press emails. This has been great because for the last few years I get a full round up of the Grand Prix results, from the Renault POV and a load of team quotes.

Today's email about Canada has made me smile for this: "Kevin started from last position following yesterday’s liaison with the wall and ran to a one-stop strategy."

 I'm loving that the FP3 crash is now a 'liaison'. Hilarious.

Renault making up the last row of the grid for I think the first time in their history. World away from a decade ago

Wow what a shocker from Lewis!

And how unlucky that Perez has a grid penalty could have been on the front row :(

So f***ing happy right now. Now he just needs to do that again tomorrow and I'll be deliriously happy

Astonishing pace from Force India, this track is absolutely perfect for them. Makes it all the more gutting that Perez has to start 7th and Hulkenberg messed up his lap in Q2 that would've taken him top 3 in that session and then got caught in traffic. Perez really could have won this race as Mercedes are poor starters and Perez would've been very tough to pass with his straight-line speed and general pace. Hopefully a couple of safety cars or something will allow Perez to challenge for the podium, likewise Hulkenberg if he goes with a counter-strategy that Force India do so well.

Baku is seeming like a fantastic track, really punishes drivers who make a little mistake and there's lots of opportunities for drivers to do that and Hamilton paid the price for that thankfully. Can't wait for the race tomorrow even though the Force Indias aren't in their deserved slots of the second row lockout (or higher thanks to Hamilton).

I love Hulk, but the Q2 f*** up was his and his alone, he aborted that lap that would have got him safe because he didn't pay enough attention. Let's not blame traffic and other people for his f*** up, he's not Hamilton

Quite an impressive 17th place for Rio Haryanto in the Manor.

Gutting indeed for Perez having that penalty after qualifying 2nd.

Struggling to stay awake. We've somehow a suspension failure and a brake failure that were both duller than paint drying.

Great qualifying but this has turned into a dull f***er of a race and oh holy Jesus are SkySports so far up Hamiltons arse it's a miracle they haven't done a pre-race feature from his colon.

Yep didn't live up to its promise this track. Definitely more suited to qualifying where drivers take more risks hence more chance of accidents but everyone was very play it safe through the corners here. A lot of overtaking but only on that home straight...

On the plus I love this radio ban, much more like this & got some hilarious team radios today. All these muppets on Twitter lambasting the ban were no doubt the ones calling for it in the first place, fickle fans 'r us.

I loved Lauda dropping Hamilton in it at he end by saying that not only did nico have same problem but that he "fixed it quicker" *.* and he did it with less crying, strops and swearing.

And Channel 4 also up there.

Felt like another Valencia there. A circuit which promised so much but delivered so little in action or quality.

Yaaaaas. Sainz and Verstappen are staying put too. Gonna be a naff silly season this year tbh with a lot of big seats already secured.

Shunning quali in favour of the Ab Fab movie. But worried about Rosberg making it in time with that FP3 shunt

Was the best qualifying session of the season so far I think! Fantastic for Hulkenberg to be starting on the front row tomorrow and Button to be starting 3rd. Remarkable for Force India to be in serious contention for a 3rd podium in 4 races, let's hope Hamilton doesn't try anything dirty when he inevitably struggles to get off the line again tomorrow. With the fast starting Ferraris a bit further back we can't rule out Hulkenberg or even Button leading into the first corner which would be fabulous!

What a thrilling qualifying session that was. Best in a long time.

Fantastic grid positions for Hulkenberg and Button.

I think Kvyat could possibly lose this spot in F1 at the end of the season. Looks ragged when driving.
