OH MY GOD. BRAIN WAVE

Rumours are that Rihanna is releasing her 8th album on Xmas Day. Could this be a genius way of cashing in on the gift card effect?? Stick an iTunes exclusive out the day that thousands (or millions?) of people wake up with iTunes credit that they won't want to use on anything else in particular??

What do you lot think?

If this week had been sales only it would have been down to the wire (and depressing, as the Xmas No.1 would have 45k sales).

Predictions on NHS Choir's position next week? I say No.70. Streams and sales will both be pretty high and nobody's going to be buying or streaming that...could fall out of the top 75 altogether as I suspect 15k could be required for that sort of position.

Craig David up to #15

Stitches #18, Guetta #21, both 59p

Louisa #24. I think they'll be keeping a very low profile this week and hope it just goes away unnoticed....

Why the surge this time?

Edit: I see, some huge promo all morning...

NHS Choir up to #1 AND #13 :(

combined they are outselling bieber by some margin now.

the people who bet on bieber must be hating chris evans

oh is it him who's responsible for NHS Choir back at #1 then?

I hated Chris Evans before anyway. Annoying presenter.

How much is a surge like this gonna sell it - maybe 1000 copies? It needs to stay there for a day or so id say!
Things just got interesting, on Kworb combined I'm pretty sure Bieber is down to around 0.5. So long as streams are all counted though I don't think anybody who's put money on Bieber needs to worry, I'd feel pretty sorry for everybody if they lost out because Chris Evans ended up getting involved.
Still large odds on Bieber, it's only a one off show. But if I had money on it I'd be squeaky bum...

I'd be so nervous all week long if I'd bet (especially a sum as large as £300), but I do think Bieber will still easily pull it off.

Imagine if Bieber gets the Xmas No.1 due to 'upweighted streams' in the absence of actual data *.*

Combined Bieber is at 57%, I'm sure his streaming advantage makes it almost impossible for NHS to beat him unless they have a 50-60% lead for now until Thursday!

I was nervous, which is why I cashed out. And put a small bet on NHS. I can't face the rest of the week checking kworb every hour!!

So guys help me out here... The nhs are selling more as of this morning but there are only 60 hours selling time until Thursday midnight.... With steaming added to his sales i think the only way the nhs can do it is if the keep beiber at 0.1 of their sales, it ain't happening is it.
Justin was leading by 3,000 on sales Fri to Sun with possibly missing streaming data. The lead should be extended by 5-7k on Monday alone. In this case to make up that gap I think the Choir should push Bieber to even around 0.3 for the rest of the week!
A reminder....Download sales accounted for just 24% of the singles market last week, so gone are the days when following i-Tunes gave you a pretty good idea of what the chart would look like. Without Streaming on your side it is almost impossible to have a No 1 unless you are shifting serious amounts on downloads or physicals (charity CD's, X Factor winners etc- ) so in short NHS would have needed to be way in front with Justin down in the 0.3's for the whole week for them to have actually stood a chance. They were only ahead in initial flashes thanks to streaming not being included, once you include them they were always trailing, and indeed falling further behind as the week progresses.
