January 15, 20169 yr Author Cut me deep, sweet bleeding, we got bad love fRh_vgS2dFE SONGS 12. Elliphant - Love Me Badder The sensational single from Elliphant, and the one that should've really pushed her into the mainstream did enough to hold tight in my affections to make this worthy placing in my EOY countdown. 'Love Me Badder' is the tragic tale of love and lust and pain. Her signature vocals carry the song and while the EP that came before this song was full of (equally as large) moments but this song seems to stand above and beyond the rest as the battle cry for an artist demanding to be made mainstream. The alluring verses and the explosive chorus: the perfect pop concoction <3 11. Justin Bieber - Sorry Bieber's return to form was hugely welcomed by me. I've willed him to improve and make his mark on public perceptions for a while but it was rightfully the music that did the talking. With this record he aired out his dirty laundry and got people to listen to him. It's an incredible feat and one of the most glorious turn arounds of public affection i've witnessed and with songs as blatantly catchy and good as this there was no denying that it would happen and that it's not deserved. It's never too late Justin~ 9xVo92yWNHM
January 15, 20169 yr Sorry not top 10, flop stan xx Loving King here also, and Let's Get Lost is a surefire Emotion highlight. Love My Bladder too :heehee:
January 16, 20169 yr Author I've got so many secrets to show hXTAn4ELEwM SONGS 10. Years & Years - Shine Starting the top 10 is the lovely Y&Y with the undeniable 'Shine'. It took a few listens but I eventually got the song quite hugely. First hearing it in Sheffield, hungover, and not really feeling it, it soon made its way up my affections. The song is brilliantly sung and it is all carried by the brooding, moody production that separates it quite distinctly from the rest of the album. As it builds into that huge chorus, there is a sense of release or morning sunrise and it's wonderful how the song can create such a spur of emotions, so simply and effortlessly. The grandeur of the singer's love compared to the striking lighting, the shattering earth, the shaking sky.. it's a beautiful tribute and wonderfully nostalgic/up-lifting track that is both subtle and humongous at the same time.
January 16, 20169 yr Fabulous #1 album, of course! I agree entirely will all you said in your praise of it <3
January 16, 20169 yr Years & Years #10 in both our EOY charts! But with different songs of course. Shine is glorious
January 16, 20169 yr Who would have imagined him getting the UK Top3 with all three songs. Shine was a beautiful gem from them.
January 18, 20169 yr Author Let me show you how proud I am to be yours Wp0hWIO8DiU SONGS 09. Selena Gomez ft. A$AP Rocky- Good For You Selena's transformation from dainty (but very good) pop girl to all-out sexy beast was one very much welcomed by me. The incredible lead single from her latest era was posed perfectly to shoot her back into the limelight. It's sensual, alluring, daring and down-right sexy. The refrained vocals really work for her, you can imagine her whispering the words in your ears and it's perfect for the mood of the song. I am firmly on team A$AP as without him the song doesn't really climax or reach a point of absolution. But with him, her daintiness is met with the dark, prowess of A$AP and the contrast between the two is the defining moment and point of appreciation for the song. When she returns following his interjection, she is much more in control and it makes for a fabulous end to the song. A brilliantly constructed and delivered song and the definite highlight from her during this recovery~ And no idea what's saying throughout it either lol.
January 18, 20169 yr Good For You  what a beauty of a song! So slick and well thought out, a welcome change in direction for sure. More like this please
January 18, 20169 yr Author I break all the rules for you UlFMVzo9zuE SONGS 08. Carly Rae Jepsen - Your Type I loved this song when it was merely an album gem, but something happened soon into the single release that made it all make so much more sense. When Carly released the simple on the surface video, it took a whole new meaning. It's a meloncholic song of lost-love and desire, but deep down it's something so much more. As Carly struggled to be heard this era, she depicted her struggle perfectly in this video. Her desire to play to the biggest of crowds, with the most adoring of fans is but a dream for her, not the deserved reality. Now i'm sure she is delighted to be making this music, but her pain and anguish at not quite being the artist that every one wants hit me in unimaginable ways. I developed a serious soft spot for her this era, but seeing her struggle to be heard among the masses broke my heart. Still, the song is hopeful - she's not going to pretend, she's not going to change and any that DO listen to her music are enough to appreciate it. Away from this message that the video alludes too is obviously still a stellar pop song and it's worthy of a top 10 place even without the personal sentiments. She is the perfect pop star this era and whether she's mainstream or not, she's certainly my type <3
January 18, 20169 yr Sorry & Good For You both great tracks and among the best ever in each's discography ^_^
January 19, 20169 yr Lovely evaluation of 'Your Type'. I like the track but I kind of dismissed it just because this synth-poppy sound is used a lot and I felt other artists did it better, but watching the video after reading your summary has definitely put a different light on the song. It must be hard for an artist to finally make a breakthrough with a huge hit only to struggle with future releases, but for it to then happen for a second time... At least it seems Carly has found peace with that matter though, as I read an article where she said it didn't really matter how much her record sells because it was the fact it was well-received by the fans and critics alike that mattered. Thrilled by the appearances of double Y&Y, 'Love Me Badder' and 'Style' - the latter is definitely up there as one of my favourite Taylor singles.
January 19, 20169 yr Easy Love and King :funky: :music: :funky: Shine and Sorry  Good for you :P Your Type :yahoo: Carly's vocal at her best tbh. Feel a bit wierd giving it a higher peak than IRLY though
January 19, 20169 yr Author After the heartache, I'm gonna carry on u9h7Teiyvc8 SONGS 07. Madonna - Living For Love The lead single from Madonna's 13th album. The song from the BRITs. The dodgy release strategy. The incredible tour performance. The undeniable behemoth of that chorus. With zany throwbacks to the 80s and beyond, a humble message of love and prosperity, this was Madonna at her most free and enjoyable. On the album it stands out as a clear single choice, the defining moment is the choral chants throughout and the intensity of the production. She donned that now famous cape at the BRITs as she introduced the song as the start of a revolution for love - a message she has sung about countless times before, but now the message seems to be love yourself before anyone else and while the song directly related to the trials Madonna herself faced that year (often very literal meanings from the lyrics) it's a universal song of love and happiness and acceptance. Although not the most complex of Madonna songs, or intricate ones lyrically, it's still a beautiful message and an example of how important love is for the artist, as she occasionally struggles to find it around her. There were very few songs last year that made me feel more genuinely happy than this one and it's not quite the Madonna classic I wanted, but even mid-table Madonna is better than most ~
January 19, 20169 yr I agree with everything you just said about 'Living for Love'. Simple lyrics that convey a strong statement that epitomises what Madonna is all about right now: staying true to yourself, finding the positives in the bad and not giving up. The 90s house revival has kinda been exhausted now but it still sounds fresh and vitalising in this song. It helps that whenever I think of this song, I think about the BRITs and how she got up and carried on, proving she's still top of her game and remains a figure that other artists can be inspired by. Gotta practice what you preach and all that!
January 19, 20169 yr Madonna fell over at the BRITs 2015!!! Living For Love is a brilliant song, probably a Madge favourite of mine but I don't know all her songs as well as you do of course. Glad to see it make an appearance high up here!
