the one that hasn't recovered is Sugar :( was in London over the weekend and heard the song a lot and also saw the video every 5 minutes in all music channels

It's pretty shame that it has dropped su many places since the 24th :(

It was in the top 20 and fell down to #51, now recovered a tiny little to #44 at least.

Great to see 99 Souls rebounding nicely. Hopefully their streaming and airplay will rise a bunch now with the xmas songs being taken out of rotation.
 67. Louisa Johnson - Forever Young

lol bye.

I still wish it was the Alphaville Forever Young, I'm sure it would have lasted longer (and may have brought the original back in the charts)

 67. Louisa Johnson - Forever Young

lol bye.

The thing I find most amusing about the awful run of this song is the fact that there was so much hype and positivity about Louisa before Forever Young was released, and yet it still flopped to the extent it has.

The fact it struggled to hold up number 1 on the iTunes chart for more than a couple of days really emphasizes the lack of interest in the song, especially seeing as past winners with less hype and likeability than herself have managed to keep the placing for numerous weeks (for example Sam Bailey, even she managed to get number one, and number one on iTunes for a while more, and she wasn't exactly chart friendly material).

No wonder she hasn't tweeted anything about the song since its release, obviously her and Simon and Syco were all anticipating an easy number one

In all fairness I don't think it's anything to do with Louisa herself. Everyone seems to find the song itself totally boring. Louisa's own material will change things I'm sure. Winning singles don't dictate future success.
I might have said this before but I wonder whether it's because Louisa was such an obvious winner that people don't feel as much ownership of her as they did with past winners.
Was Louisa an obvious winner? I thought there were a few with a shout particularly the first few weeks. The only winner who was the only contender from week 1 that I can remember is sam bailey, she seemed to be featured every week on gogglebox as well. Even Leona didn't appear as contender until a few weeks in iirc

I think Louisa is a bit of it. She is just decent, her voice is good but shouty, she is a bit wet personality wise and she never gave anyone that moment to really think yeah she is amazing.

The winners people have usually invested in so the winners song doesn't matter because people buy it any way but people obviously didn't invest in Louisa as a person at all.

It's the song, strategy and the fact that not as many people watch X factor. I don't think it has anything to do with Louisa. And I don't think it really matters either. It's not like Cannonball is known to be played on the radio ever is it? It's not remembered regardless of selling. Louisa is still a lot more likely to have success than Sam, Ben, Matt, Leon of a load of the other failed winners.

No doubts it is a poor song. But the fact it has done so horrifically I think must reflect on her personal popularity.

I for one have no idea what her musical style or future music is likely to be.

Forever Flop down to #70 now.
X Factor just seemed to not be much of an event this year? It was over as quickly as it begun and we never got a chance to really get invested in the contestants imo.

There's a difference between 'Cannonball' and 'Forever Young' though. 'Cannonball' did badly enough to be completely forgotten about weeks later, while 'Forever Young' has very possibly done badly enough to actually be remembered for being the X Factor song that did horrendously - I've seen numerous conversations regarding how badly Louisa has done and it's gotten pretty decent coverage in the press (which couldn't be said for Little Mix).

Louisa is pretty heavily associated with failure and the decline of X Factor in the public's mind right now, I would say. Winner singles are never indicators of success but the coverage surrounding 'Forever Young' looks like a pretty heavy indicator for me. I'd be very surprised if radio were confident in supporting her next year.

Yeah this is my stance on it all too! Although if Nick is staying with the show, then Radio 1 might be forced to support her regardless due to the connection?

Winner's single or not, it's awful and offensively bland and not falling quick enough for me.

Can 'All My Friends' hurry up and get back in the top 40 please?

I'm really worried Radio 1 will drop it from their playlist just when it is about to take off.

I do feel a bit sorry for Louisa tbh because she is a talented girl and with the right material and backing I could see her doing really well but that winners single really was so dull and was not catchy in the slighest I don't know what they were thinking picking it. I just hope it doesn't damage her career I heard rumors they are rushing to get her album out in Febuary which would be a TERRIBLE idea IMO.
