December 29, 20159 yr Mariah #11 in America as well :( Yay for I Know What You Did Last Summer reaching a new peak  How high do you think it can go?
December 29, 20159 yr Author I'd consider #11 a success for Mariah! Everything kind of fell into place for it this year: the early boost thanks to her Thanksgiving Day Parade performance, streaming doing wonders, and the perfectly aligned pre-Xmas tracking week. I wish it had peaked in the top ten, and sadly I don't think it'll have that chance for a few more years due to the pre-Xmas tracking week being split for the next few years, but streaming really helped it out this year and I think it'll regularly hit the top 20 from now on. As for "IKWYDLS", not sure if it'll be as big as "Stitches", but I think it'll hit the top 20, maybe even the lower rungs of the top 10 if things go well for it.
December 29, 20159 yr IKWYDLS is a strange one because as their focusing on that... Stitches is still becoming a hit.
January 1, 20169 yr What's the longest running #1 that entered at the top? Feel like Adele must be coming for that record if she doesn't have it already. James Bay making the Hot 100 :o Did something in particular boost it this week or is it just slowly growing into a (minor) hit anyway? Haven't been following it!
January 1, 20169 yr What's the longest running #1 that entered at the top? Feel like Adele must be coming for that record if she doesn't have it already."One Sweet Day" entered the top and spent its record-breaking 16 weeks there.
January 1, 20169 yr "One Sweet Day" entered the top and spent its record-breaking 16 weeks there. Oh right :heehee: Wasn't aware that was one that debuted at the top. Adele could still potentially beat that anyway...
January 2, 20169 yr James Bay making the Hot 100 :o Did something in particular boost it this week or is it just slowly growing into a (minor) hit anyway? Haven't been following it!The latter! It's top 100 on iTunes now and has more momentum on airplay than Hold Back The River ever seemed to have. Not sure how high it can go just yet but he should easily stick around for a month or two at least.
January 2, 20169 yr Author It felt like James Bay had been bubbling under for most of last year, so it's weird to see him take off just now. And per Billboard, here's where "Hello" ranks for the longest consecutive run for a #1-debuting song: 16 weeks, "One Sweet Day," Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men, 1995-96 14 weeks, "Candle in the Wind" / "Something About the Way You Look Tonight," Elton John, 1997-98 11 weeks, "I'll Be Missing You," Puff Daddy & Faith Evans feat. 112, 1997 9 weeks, "Hello," Adele, 2015 Edited January 2, 20169 yr by dhwe
January 6, 20169 yr Is it fair to say that Twenty One Pilots song could be the 'Shut Up And Dance' of 2016? I just listened to it though and it's god-awful, it reminds me of Flobots - Handlebars (although I actually liked that...)
January 6, 20169 yr Oh I forgot to comment about James Blegh Like "Let It Go" is not as painstakingly horrible as HBTR but it if becomes the new "Riptide"... :drama: :drama: :drama:
