21 Little Mix Secret Love Song (feat. Jason Derulo) :D

27 Ellie Goulding Army

I didn't expect to see Ellie get another top 40 with Army after it had 0 effect when she performed it on CiN last year, so good for her. Hopefully both these songs are playlisted today.

Really don't get all these 'Stitches' doesn't sound like a number one posts. What's a number one meant to sound like? 'Stitches' is a pop song - 90% of UK Number 1's are pop songs.

I agree, the majority of number 1s are disliked by loads of people here anyway. Just because you don't like a song, it doesn't mean it sounds less like a number 1 than another. Stitches is a catchy song, maybe it wouldn't have gone to number 1 on busier chart time, but there's nothing to say it "sounds" less like a number 1 than say for example Turn the Music Louder (Rumble), Drag Me Down, Don't Be So Hard On Yourself, Fight Song, Marvin Gaye, What do you Mean, Easy Love, Not Letting Go etc.

Anyway, back to the important stuff;

19 Little Mix Secret Love Song (feat. Jason Derulo)

Now THAT sounds like a number 1 ;)

love Stitches much better than 90% of number ones in 2015!!!
35. Pia Mia - Touch.... Really wish this would go top 40 official :( can't see it now though

It's not a very good pop song though

That is all matter of opinion and personal taste though. The fact it is so high on iTunes clearly shows a lot of people do think it is a strong pop song, including myself.

Nobody likes all #1s though, as said in my above post. I think Stitches is good and there's no reason it shouldn't be number 1 in comparison to all the other number 1s, especially as the charts are so slow at the moment, but I'm repeating myself now.

Personal opinion; all I'm saying is that their is no distinctive sound a song must have to get to number one.

You talk like everyone has this view. It's been a huge worldwide hit and is nothing like anything else in the chart right now.

Secret Love Song already 19? with no promo, little radio, no radio 1... no video yet. WOW, going to be huge... like it should. Their best ever.

It's  to #17 now. It's silly to predict these things so early, but I could see it being their second biggest hit after Black Magic.

I'm hoping it's their best 2 for sure.

Really good to see Snakehips, Major Lazer and Craig David making steady progress.

Disagree with the claim that Stitches sounds like nothing else in the chart though! The vocals sound fairly similar to other male artists and the beat is decent, if not groundbreaking.

There's some songs that just sound like #1's when you first hear them and others that get there because they're the "sound" of the moment or the artist has momentum behind them.
