Well yes indeed they are, I think it'd be more of a joke if a song that irrelevant can still be a top 10 hit based on one day of big sales.

I think we just have to accept that because paid-for sales are so low now there will be more occurrences of songs making the sales top 10/20 yet flopping massively because of a lack of streaming.

The idea of a charity or campaign single will very soon be completely dead simply because people don't stream those sorts of songs (and I'm sure a lot only listen to them once (or not even that) after downloading off iTunes) and I say good riddance, most charity singles are awful.

I think charity singles will still have a fairly easy task in terms of getting to #1 given it rarely takes more than 100K to manage that & the bigger ones can easily surpass that on sales alone (like the NHS Choir last year). Of course the second week drops will get more & more substantial & it won't be long before a #1 drops straight out the top 40 the following week.
Taylor Swift needs to put her music on Spotify or the same thing that happened to Teddy Mac will in future happen to her
Next milestone to look out for - how long before a top 5 sales entry misses out on official top 40 status? I guess by next summer.

I seriously can't believe Cake By The Ocean is still top 40 on sales. Good thing we have streams to keep the chart fresh!
I would exchange Offaiah for Clean Bandit.

It really is like 2005 in terms of a lot of dance songs with lots of airplay (Trouble, Freak Like Me, Piece Of Me) are not doing as well in the charts.

Overall the sales chart is much fresher than the official chart, mpst of the losses are potential new entries.

A track like Cake By The Ocean would normally be benefiting through streams, wonder why sales are being more kind to it.
I'm more annoyed that Kideko keeps missing out
